  1. When I want Coffee I want Coffee not dish water. The problem with D & D is its not consistant. A lot of their stores water it down. At Starbucks you get a good stong consistant cup, with a lot of cafine. ALS, have you gone to the Peekskill Coffiee House or the Cow in Croton? Local and good too. They'll never close the one in Briarcliff, it's always got people in it and its on the way to the trainiong center.
  2. Go right ahead, I hae no copyright.
  3. I always remind everyone on my rig when I am driving to or from any alarm no matter what it is. Our new engine has a seat belt alarm. If you weigh 60 lbs. it goes off, who among us doesn't Put your PPE on in quarters. It should not take long. If it does, pracitce. On the scene, release the seatbelt, slip your arms in the airpac and get out. You can buckle the pack when your out. Then get your tool. While I consider myself a safe driver it's the other nut on the road. You don't know what they are going to do and how they will react to the siren and air horn so be safe, buckle it or get off my rig.
  4. How come they didn't add the trucks manufacturer, the mechanic who services the truck or the people involved in the alarm they were responding to. Does this mean if I get hurt on someones property while at an alarm or even while responding I can sue too?? The most famous and used words these days in the enlish language "I'll Sue." Way too many lawyers in this world.
  5. Would love to see changes happen. Hopefully last time I saw you you're wrong. It'll be great, each on duty FF will have thier own personal TIC when working. LOL
  6. Add to the list At the scene Garrison 15-1-2. 15-6-1, Cold Spring 13-1-1 and 13-6-1, both buses from Garrison Ambulance, one from Phillipstown Ambulance and Cortlandt VAC with Peekskill 35 1 assisting. At the LZ Garrison 15-2-2. Air units from as far as NJ.
  7. From what I've read about the big it's a TAX CREDIT. That means when you figure out your tax liability to the state reduce iit by $500. That's the simple way of putting it.
  8. Let's face it, if the state assembly and senate didn't show up for a year the state would run fine. It is the responsability of local government for any type of gas reimbursement. $500 back? I had to pay the full $59 for the Empire State Pass as well. No freebee there either. As for that huge list of bills in the assembly and state senate, LOL. Most bills sit up there for years before they even get looked at. Plus if you take the time to read them you'll see many are just duplications with some different wording, combonations of several etc. Maybe in the next 5 years you'll see a few make it through.
  9. Several of those are the same just renumbered and reworded.
  10. Where's the free vacations, free community pool memberships (mine cost me $500), free movies and other discounts. What I asked in my earlier post is if any fire district is buying or giving gas cards to members. I didn't ask about the state. I know both sides of the fence chief, here are still more volunteer departments and volunteers than career ff's in NYS. Let's not get into the career vs volly issue.
  11. I've heard of several departments that give its members gas cards for a percentage of runs each month. How many departments out there do that?
  12. I remember year ago getting hit with an AC unit that was mounted about the door to a store. It only dropped a few feet and dented the old leather. That hurt. I saw double for a while. (no comments that that explains a few things)
  13. You want to see gas come down? Drop 25% of the federal oil reserves into production. Watch the speculators who have been driving the price panic. Very few will go broke but they'll take some hit. 25% is just enough not to throw the economy into a tail spin.
  14. Driving at that speed they should not only revoke his license for the next 20 years but take his library card too and anything else as well. He'll probably get a slap on the wrist and a 1 year suspension otherwise he'll be right back doing it the next day.
  15. Metro North has a tanker car. It can put into service. There are also streams, pond, lakes and pools. Every good MPO knows how to draft. There is water pressure, its just low.
  16. George i have to agree with a lot of what you say but taken the senerio in the first post, Career or Vollunteer, you are the first to arrive and your training takes over. You go to work. You make your disisions. Forget the Monday morning quarterbacks. As an old chief told me when it comes to saving a life, the rules go out the window. There are no rules at that point just the objective.
  17. How about a can and other extinguishers? That's what we have on our Spartin/Marion
  18. The one thing I remember from my training back in the 70's from the Chiefs down to the Lt.'s anmd the departments instructors, LADDERS, lets get the building laddered on all sides.
  19. Good luck and most of all, STAY SAFE.
  20. Maybe now she'll go back to doing what we're paying her for and finish her term. Too bad we now have to pay her senate salery for the rest of her life.
  21. she's waiting for an assasination remember what she said about June and Kennedy?
  22. hee ships a lot from South America. Can't remember exactly which country.
  23. I'm traveling this week and have been in Detroit where i only saw a few stations but it was all over $4 and Milwaukee where its over $4 in most stations but a few are at $3.95.
  24. Congrat, welcome to the world of sleepless nights and those late night diaper runs. Stock up. Buy them in bulk. Most important, run to the fire house for peace and quiet.
  25. Only 14, way to young, RIP Ralph. My prayers to the family.
