  1. they actually want you to pay 4.95 a month to look at the three words they put as a description
  2. How about the Selecto Fire in Ardsley in 1986. Guys were on scene for about 40 hours straight. Mutual aid from Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, White Plains and others jsut cant remember. Saw Mill Parkway closed due to Irvingtons Ladder in operation on the parkway. Smoke could been seen as far away as New Rochelle. Wasn't there (and barely remember this fire) but looking in the past log book members wound up being on scene for about a week at this fire.
  3. What requirements does your department require for its line officers. For example Ardsley's requirements are Captain: FFI Ladder Company Operations AVET Haz Mat Ops Motor Pump Operator Preparing For Command You also must be an MPO for 6 monthes(which requires you to have been a member for at least 2 and 1/2 years) Chief Or Asst Chief: FFI Ladder Company Operations AVET Haz Mat Ops Haz Mat Tech Motor Pump Operator Preparing for Command Incident Command Systems Cause and Origin Fire Behavior and Arson Awareness You also are required to be an ex-captain On a side note any of these requirements can be waiver by the present cheif.
  4. Who would want to run for such a position. Its being MPO of the month every month
  5. Wouldn't it make sense to have 60 Control assign FAST frequencies for each battalion. IE Battalion 14 FAST Frequency is Channel 4 and any time one of the Battalion 14 departments respond as the FAST they use Frequency 4. That way it is already determined before arrival at the fire scene. One less thing to worry about at a fire scene.
  6. i m sure if it was up to the trustees it would look like the dpw garage.
  7. i believe the rigs will be down at the abandoned westchester garage on 9A the village wants this property and i believe plan on taking it over as a parking lot once we are out.
  8. I thought the renumbering is supposed to happen. Ardsley and Elmsford renumbered therir ladders from quints. Ardsley used to be Quint 1 and is now ladder 50. I have the problem with thornwood? and fairview both are tower ladders and one is is Tower ladder 1 and the other is ladder 1. Theres is a good possiblity they could be operating at the same scene (Elmsford) and cause a great amount of confusion. We also just made it more dificult when we added the squads that according to Westchester county standards aren't squads.
  9. Just came back from circuit city and i saw the first complete season of 21 jump street was just released on DVD.
  10. Cause and orgin was a course that was offered i believe the last one was about 4 years ago, but at this point the only classes offered are survival (a very much needed course) FFI, and intermediate was just offered for the 2nd or 3rd time this year. I dont believe AVET was offered this summer, all the haz mats are offfered up county, preparing for command was offered once maybe. I personally would like to see different courses offered. There have been great classes offered recently like the flammable liquids class, and the air bags class that used to run out of general motors. Also a class I would like to see but not sure if it is offered through the state or the county is a fast team class. Dont get me wrong my department does train and trains often but i would also like to get some other classes to. In another note and should probably go on another thread but what the heck, the MPO course is to be offered in Jan for the first time in over a year and not to my suprise it is already filled. My department tried to sign people up the first day they were able to, how come when a course is that quick to fill up like FFI why can't the county have some kind of system to let more departments be involved in the class instead of being filled by only 6. For example allow 2 maximum from each department. I have taken a many classes where some county departments will have 8 to 10 people enrolled in a class. Hey Seth if you never left Ardsley you could still take those classes to. And dont foget the Christmas Party is coming soon.
  11. Speaking of the training center when are they going to offer upper level classes such as cause and origin and fire behavior. I am sure they are incorporated into firefighter I, but what about everyone that took essentials over 5 years ago that want to be an officer? I thought it was a law that the officers had to determine a cause of a fire. :-k
  12. I think we should also remember that I believe Ardsley has the most amount of members on the Westchester Hazmat team and also has about half of its 40 members as Haz Mat Techs. I also believe one of the reasons that the trailers are being deployed is in case of an attack in NYC that the county and the city have set up a plan to send all the wounded to area hospitals in Westchester and I believe Ardsley is right next door To Dobbs Ferry Hospital!
  13. congrats mikey and a job well done to timmy murray
  14. What are other people doing to prevent this?
  15. Does anyone have problems with the state law that over 45% of your department can not live outside of the district and if so what have you done to help the situation?
  16. no Ardsley was at Ogden sitting there all night until 6Am
  17. As Emtbravo said i will believe it when i see it. I have heard for 7 years now that we are getting a new firehouse. The new firehouse will have gear rooms seprate from teh apparatus as they are supposed to be, decontamination room, gym, SCBA fill room, and each bay will be able to fit 2 engines in each. The door way will have more than two inches of clearance for the apparatus to fit. That is about all I care to know but they are supposed to break ground sometime in the spring(or they say). Project has not gone out to bid yet so i doubt it.
  18. Why dont you start a juniors section so we can all go to it and review different ideas and topics all about juniors. This is great seth coem to the christmas party.
  19. I think most of us are the least paid we get nothing
