  1. There is no button, at least not yet, anyway. That post was from last year when it was originally launched. The EMTBravo live-chat feature was "retired" essentially for lack of use, and we're contemplating the feasibility of resurrecting it.
  2. Barry, that is some substantial progression in the department's rolling stock rescue capabilities over time. I'm going to guess it was in the neighborhood of roughly a 20+ year evolution? Kudos to all those responsible for that.
  3. Is the image you were thinking about, it kind of looks like electrical sparks, I'm pretty sure it's just time-lapse exposure of burning debris falling. Pretty cool, nonetheless.
  4. Lo Hud update news story: http://www.lohud.com...ley-woman-found Amazing Technology!
  5. There are just a handful of these large turbines located on The Cape, however they no longer seem to have the widespread appeal they once initially enjoyed. It appears that very few if any land based installations will receive local approval anytime in the near future. One controversial offshore project well into the permitting stages is Cape Wind, a proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound consisting of 130 turbines capable of 420 MegaWatts of power generation. I guess we'll need one of these:
  6. What should you do when confronted with a situation such as this? Attack the seat of the fire, or wait until it is more manageable, like after it comes down to you? (Photographer(s): unknown) Think "collapse zone"....
  7. Unfortunate, but true. We've had numerous (former) contributing photographers who got fed up and no longer post their work due to all the negativity and nit picking. At one point we even tried eliminating public comment on incident photo threads in an effort to lure them back. It was precisely those types of photos being published that EMTBravo flourished on, back in the day. Back on topic, Great Job, even with the calculated risks taken!
  8. Not to worry, they'll be waiting there for you.... ( not bashing Croton or anyone, just the issue. On occasion it happens to many agencies, and it's never good news. ) Good news is at least Croton recognizes there is sometimes a problem and is attempting to rectify it.
  9. According to the news article, Chief Kielb held the officers' union top post in the past, and it appears he is not the current president. It goes on to mention Commissioner Pagano will be retiring effective Jan 1. and Chief Kielb will step up then. Congratulations to Chief Kielb on his appointment and also to Commissioner Pagano on his retirement!
  10. Congratulations, Chief! Enjoy your retirement!
  11. as a follow-up, It appears Chief Fitz has decided to retire!
  12. What kind of kool-aid is he on? With all due respect, Mr Mayor, ILLEGALS DO NOT PAY TAXES!!!! They live here ILLEGALLY and send their kids to OUR schools, but DO NOT PAY TAXES!!!! Not on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday! Apologies to the real kool-aid
  13. I believe that 6000 number is fairly accurate for management employees, and the balance is union, for a total of around 14000. More and more utility "jobs" are "lost" due to the work functions getting contracted out. For example who would have thought that nobody but a huge utility a could operate a nuclear power plant? and then along comes Entergy. Routine gas and electric construction and maintenance work is getting farmed out to different companies on a bid process, and all ConEd needs is a few contract administrators to ensure that the work was done. The union is essentially (excuse the pun) powerless to stop them from doing it.
  14. He might be better off spending his energy requiring judges to lock up criminals standing in front of them, particularly those with outstanding arrest warrants.
  15. Ken, I think you're jumping the gun, the issue is not about your dedication or vollies in general not doing the best that they can. You have to admit, and I 'm sure everyone who cares enough about what goes on knows there are many times when some calls don't get answered in a timely fashion, and it is THAT which is not acceptable. A sprained wrist can wait, but a stroke patient cant. Or is it the 2:30am call with the elderly nursing home patient vomiting and diarrhea. And who knows which of these calls is going to get pushed back due to slow or no response? The outcomes for these patients will be very different.
  16. Rest in Peace. So sad. This was so totally preventable. The perp was in custody for other crimes more than once and he walked each time.
  17. I have no sympathy for those who choose to confront the police and suffer the consequences. What is it with the mob-mentality of people anymore, here once again individuals in a group are given lawful orders by police and they ignore, or worse? They deserved a good whoop-ass.

  19. What do the French know, anyway?...If it weren't for us, they'd be speaking German right now.
  20. Who gives a flying s*** what "celebrities" think? Screw them. Let the bastard rot in jail 23-1/2 hours a day in solitary.
  21. Rest in peace, firefighter Kevin Townes.
  22. My condolences to the family and friends of FIREFIGHTER JON DAVIES, and the Worcester FD. And a prayers for a speedy recovery to firefighter Brian Carroll.
  23. I can see complaints coming in from some of those who were running late for work and wouldn't stop, because of that...
  24. ...for what one might consider is a relatively benign topic, this particular one gets more than it's fair share of coverage.
