  1. Where is 102 being kept, Mutual house? That old E-104 ALF is the truck I learned how to double-clutch on. I ground-a-pound or two...until I got it figured out. Open cab, middle of winter.... siren dimmed the lights! what a ride! Old E-103 Mack CF, before it went to PC, now that one was a blast to drive! Rummies!
  2. Here's some more background, http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=22536 Let's show our support for our Brother!
  3. CONGRATULATIONS! Special Thanks to Seth, for his vision and persistence, providing a truly valuable information resource for the Emergency Services and related sectors, and for enthusiasts around the world! This viable internet community would not be possible without the participation of all the Members, visitors, and behind-the-scenes activities of a committed, all-volunteer Staff. Spread the word!
  4. http://www.rescuestuff.net/ Right here, in Peekskill! RESCUESTUFF Is one of EMTBravo.com's Site Advertisers. Tell them you saw their ad here!
  5. Looks like Wolverine Fire apparatus has bought the assets to Elite Fire Apparatus. Here I found this: http://www.shawanoleader.com/articles/2008.../news/news1.txt oops I might have incorrectly assumed it was ALF building the Irvington unit....
  6. The Mayor from Irvington, NY was just on News 12, she spoke of their $300,000+ engine delivery, which has been put in jeopardy as a result. I hope the involved parties can come to an agreement and work out their finances, so that ALF might be able to resume production. Anyone heard other news on local deliveries affected?
  7. One thing to remember is you don't need to insure your house for the full market value. The foundation and land don't burn, so no need to insure that portion of value for loss. The main three things to look at are: 1. Do I have enough insurance to rebuild my home? 2. Do I have enough insurance to replace all of my possessions? 3. Do I have enough insurance to protect my assets? I'm awaiting permission to link to an article on the Insurance Information Institute website
  8. That's the drill. There will probably never be a need for a climb like that under actual fire conditions, but without a shadow of a doubt, it is a huge confidence-builder! and takes teamwork to accomplish. [pay no attention to one of the other videos on that page]
  9. ... I really don't know what anyone has these days. I'll take a guess those still are carried. All I've ever done is engine company, even when taking that ladder training, back in the day.
  10. A Lamborghini Gallardo, for those foreign car enthusiasts... The Gallardo can reach speeds of 196 mph thanks to its 10-cylinder, 520hp @ 8000 rpm- engine. Acceleration 0-62 mph s: 4.0 Base Price: 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo - $175,000
  11. Jody's situation background: Here
  12. This road should have a center guardrail the whole length. If nothing else, they need to lose the entrance from Highland avenue heading westbound. I have had more than one "panic stop" with people pulling out to go west, right in front of me. There is only about 150 feet of sight distance, coming around a slight bend plus the overpass abutments block the view of oncoming traffic.
  13. Hi Bill. I'm going to give it another shot, but I seem to still be having a problem with recording audio. I posted "over there" and am waiting for any help that might be available. Update: 2/5- I got it to record! It's like having a TiVo for your scanner! Except I'm having a problem with it freezing all the time...
  14. Bummer....That link has been disabled. I bet it was cool.
  15. Incredible, how quickly the fire intensified! Who the heck would torch a firehouse?
  16. So, who do you think is going to win the Big Game?
  17. I threw in "10-20" before, to see if I'd get any nibbles... who knew I'd get so many bites!
  18. I didn't know we had "quick-Picks" !
  19. Our very own SteveOFD has endorsed that antenna, and I sent away for one, and so did TR54 and DOC22, based on his recommendation.
  20. two more, 25 and 62 por favor.
  21. 6 and 21, please. 100pts transferred
  22. As of right now, with 88 votes cast, 69 percent of the respondents feel confident the Giants are gonna win. I like the tally numbers.... as a final score! NY-61 NE-27! Go Blue! I wonder if EMTBravoNew England has a poll, and what THOSE results are? Hmmmm....
  23. 1- I feel the police officer on the scene is qualified to assess "his scene" and can make a decision to cancel either fire or ems, or both, if not needed. 2- Dispatch only relies on "hearsay" and that is not sufficient cause to change response. I don't recall having ever heard a responding Chief or officer issue orders to slow down or return, based on a radio report, unless it was from someone qualified, already on the scene. Once the situation is confirmed, then he/she can safely order a non-emergency response, or cancellation. 3- An EMT should be able to downgrade the call to BLS, once PT condition is known. ALS can then decide whether to continue in, 10-20. ymmv go big blue!
  24. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! A dietitian was once addressing a large audience in Chicago: "The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks erode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. "But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?" ________________________________ A 75-year-old man in the front row stood up and said, "Wedding cake."
