This weather system appears to be going to affect a whole lot more than just Dutchess!

Yeah! Fortunately the clouds vanished and it's clear now!

It looks like the weather is going to cooperate! Partial eclipse begins at 20:43, and the moon will be totally in the Earth's shadow 22:01-22:51! http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space...r-eclipse_N.htm

I would interpret the word "Display" as language meaning illuminated. All LED's look white or clear, while off. Even with no lights on, that ride would be an attention-getter... ...(especially in MY driveway)

Displaying of any White, red, blue, amber, colored lights on vehicles are covered under Laws of New York, VAT (vehicle and traffic). Article 9 Equipment of motor vehicles and motorcycles § 375 (41). Colored and flashing lights. Spells out exactly what's allowed, and when.

Care to share...Got a link?

I heard that Tony Bosco, Car 12, is retiring/retired. Why Batt 19 is not shown on the Apparatus list is beyond me. The DES/Fire Services website Battalion list shows Deputy Coordinator Car 19 as Robert Magnotta. Oh, and thanks Steve, for the updated Apparatus list!

My new antenna just Arrived! I had a feeling it would be soon, they just billed my CC the other day. Tim, the UPS guy is headed in your direction!

Both of these that I use are the free version players. I haven't yet found any good reason for me to pay for either one.

From what I have read, the primary aircraft de-icing chemical used is a heated monopropylene glycol. Ethylene glycol and other glycol-based mixtures are used but not so much in the US. While classified non-toxic, excess monopropylene glycol is contained when applied, to keep it and it's negative effects from the environment. There are two aircraft ice control techniques: de-icing (above) for removal of already-formed ice, and anti-icing, which aims to prevent ice formation in the first place. I don't feel either of these could be effectively used on a fire apparatus operating at a scene. Whoever develops a system designed to keep an aerial ladder from freezing or for quickly defrosting a frozen one, will become wealthy!

I can't answer your question but I just tried using ScanCT feed F-5 and both players connected and played fine, on my end, using Firefox browser. RealPlayer- version 11 WMP- version10.0 Maybe check your browser security or firewall settings?

Sure did look like he hit the car. If so, at least they didn't have to go very far to get a Police Report....

Good article, CAM502 And Thanks to Ed for starting the topic!

Relax, I was joking. See the smiley? You guys want to talk about Seth, go ahead. Have at it. (within reason) Bottom line is Seth wrote some stuff and blew off some steam, and then took his post down. Nothing more.

Seth did post an update earlier today, and subsequently removed his post, for his own reasons.

Lets keep the comments on topic. Any "side" attacking the other, will get this thread into the trash bin, pronto. Thanks.

I never saw so much smoke from any fire, in my entire life! When we went back the following day to restore what gas we could (for heat) to the stores that didn't burn, we were lucky to find the gas cutoff valves, they were buried under 4 inches of solid ice! I also wondered, what happened to the firefighter who rode a ground ladder all the way down from the parapet in front, when it slipped out on the ice? I do remember he was hurt.
