Great News! Glad to have Steve on-board!

MoFire390, from what I understand, the Minitor V pager is capable of receiving trunked radio traffic. The ToneAlert / Voice page goes out normally over 46.26, (or 33.96, or whatever) and the user could switch to channel "D" which would be programmed to your trunked talkgroup channel.

So sorry, Duane. My thoughts and prayers to you and family.

Once again, the little head doing the thinking for the big head....

It's Daylight Saving Time again! Don't forget to adjust your clocks ahead one hour when you go to bed tonight (or first thing in the morning) Official time will shift forward one hour effective 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, to begin Daylight Saving Time. Not observing Daylight Saving Time are Arizona and Hawaii. It's also a good time to change Smoke and CO detector batteries. You do test them monthly, no?
-
From what I see, these two trunk tracking radios can scan conventional and trunked systems, but the two system types can't be mixed, they must occupy different banks.
-
No problem. I hope it helps you and anyone else who might need that.

They all do different segments of both UHF low (400mhz) and UHF hi (800mhz) Westchester system uses UHF low Here: http://support.radioshack.com/support_electronics/2849.htm

The 2026 will pick up the UHF frequencies used, but will not track a trunked talkgroup. The 2050 and 2066 WILL track trunked talkgroups.

Thanks for the post! Brings back many great memories of growing up in Valhalla in the '50s-70's. Great Pics, Joe!

And of course, no one puts old gasoline down a sewer, sink or storm drain, stream or waterway, or in the trash, where it can cause a fire or explosive condition, pollute the soil or surface or groundwater....

Here's is the bottom line...and I don't see what anyone needs to worry about after all is said and done. If we decide to go forward with this, it is simply something to recognize the members who continually add a positive presence to our community, a "Thanks for what you do" for going above and beyond. It doesn't mean the member is extra smart or even 100% right all of the time. Basically, it's like the points system, an attempt at systematically identifying those who are considered extra helpful and continue to contribute. Look at it this way, everyone who contributes to the site gets noticed one way or another. Either it's for their demeanor and knowledge and positive presence, or there is the OTHER way of getting noticed, and I don't think it's necessary to describe that behavior. We want to have everyone that visits EMTBravo to experience what a vibrant community we have, and maybe learn something new, and even make a few new friends.

The entire topic idea itself and criteria for selection is being discussed, there still are a lot of things we need to look at. Nothing is cast in stone, but you can bet the ranch there will be a lot of weight given to a member's contributions to the site, like I said earlier: Quality.... I like the Iron Chef reference, that kind of sums it up nicely, and It's not going to be easy.

Correct. The first wall began coming down around 12:20PM, and the whole episode ended around 3 hours later. Utility crews were on either end of the block cutting the gas mains while that came down.

My condolences to the entire Salisbury Fire Department Family.

I would continue with allowing anonymous "screen names" to be used, provided the member has been verified, and their account status is in good standing. A few people have already commented elsewhere, that they would walk away if required to divulge their true identities, so let's not drive those good members out by making that a requirement, that way we can recognize those members as well.
-
Quality, not quantity.... Let's make it a system for recognizing those who are considered extra helpful and continue to contribute to the site positively. The moderators and staff can identify and nominate those people as deserving of the tag, our way of saying "Thanks for what you do." We know who most of those qualifying individuals are, already!

You could use the URL from above and create your own browser shortcut in your Bookmarks, Favorites, or Links, depending on what browser you use. What I've done for myself is I made a Google maps shortcut in my quick launch toolbar, so when I want to look up something locally I click it and a new window pops up with an area map that I selected previously.

I'm not sure I understand what it is you want to try and do, particularly why it would have to be a "pinned" post. If someone wanted to put up a Google Map / satellite view to pinpoint a location for an IA or other job, that can be done anytime, in the IA workshop section. If I made a sticky post with a Google map URL, only myself or another Mod would be able to edit that particular post for any changes. Okay, for an example, here is a White Plains Google Map link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...mp;t=h&z=14 I guess what I am trying to figure out is what would making that URL sticky accomplish?

C'mon...anyone else?

Tragic indeed. And Politicians.......creating a photo-op... Why point fingers at anybody? Nobody could have done much, except of course, unless they happened to be ON the scene at the moment the car went into the water, AND had the equipment, AND the training.... The hard truth is this: anyone trapped in a submerged vehicle has mere MINUTES.... ...for any hope to be rescued.... Why are they waiting MONTHS to install the barriers....????
