I don't know about the fire service, but my ConEd guys who will be in a Hot-Zone involving potential for exposure to flame from natural gas MUST wear fire-retardant (nomex) coveralls, including PBI hoods, over fire-resistant (100% cotton) clothing. And depending on the individual scene circumstances, an Air-Line Respirator or SCBA might also be a requirement. Polyester or similar textiles is NOT an acceptable work clothing option where exposure to heat or flame is expected. Say this three times fast: Putting PPE over a non-acceptable article of clothing does not make the unacceptable article acceptable.

Much of the Cross County Parkway will be closed in both directions on Saturday, April 19 when Pope Benedict XVI visits St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. There likely will be some traffic delays elsewhere in the county due to the spillover of traffic onto other roads. The following closures will be in effect: · At 8 a.m., one lane of the eastbound Cross County Parkway will be closed from Yonkers Avenue to Seminary Avenue. · At 2 p.m., all eastbound lanes of the Cross County Parkway will be closed between the Saw Mill River Parkway and Interstate 87/Central Park Avenue. · At 3 p.m., all westbound lanes of the Cross County Parkway will be closed from Interstate 87/Central Park Avenue to the Saw Mill River Parkway. The closures will be in effect until 8 p.m. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes. From Westchestergovnews

"Entergy will conduct full volume tests of the new Indian Point sirens on Tuesday, April 15, Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17. All the sirens in the new system will be sounded for four minutes, one time each day, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. No response on the part of the public is necessary. Residents should be aware that these new sirens do NOT sound like the current sirens. Westchester County officials will use the current siren system to alert the public during an emergency at Indian Point until the new siren system is completed and tested. In an actual emergency, all the current sirens would sound at full volume for four minutes. Sirens are not a signal to evacuate; but rather to tune to their local Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or TV station for important information. " In an emergency, official information will be broadcast on the Emergency Alert System (EAS). Primary EAS stations for Westchester are: WFAS-AM 1230 White Plains WFAS-FM 103.9 White Plains WLNA-AM 1420 Peekskill WHUD-FM 100.7 Peekskill WZZN-FM 106.3 Mount Kisco WXPS-FM 107.1 Hawthorne NEWS 12 Ch12 CABLE Westchester

Try replacing your malfunctioning bookmarks, (short story) the IP address likely changed, and the old link "got lost"

I was going to comment on apparatus placement, I bet the paint job on that rig took a hit. Also, we can't determine what the total fuel load is based on occupancy. I did see one auto supply store, probably lots of aerosol and flammable sprays and other chemicals. Once it goes through the roof, you can hear multiple POPS or muffled explosions, right until the end of the clip.

Most newer pumps today are single-stage, but I bet there are still a bunch of two-stage pump equipped engines in service out there. In the case of a two-stage pump, it's recommended to engage the pump in Volume (parallel), that way both pump impellers are directed to the suction inlet. Close all inlet and outlet gates, (and drains) put it "in pump", and Rev the engine to around a grand, hit the primer and you should see pressure within around 30 seconds. If not, check all your suction connections, take a look-see that you have oil in the primer reservoir. I did see NRFD drafting in a parking lot at a water main break, not too long ago... good drill!

I've heard it. Whatever is going on it's happening somewhere on 46.26 and the cross band repeater/s just retransmit whatever signal is present.

For a permanent outdoor antenna, you will not go wrong with this Discone Antenna from RadioShack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...oductId=2103160 For an indoor/handheld portable scanner there is this one Diamond RH77CA: http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/scanants/2368.html For a base radio you might need a right-angle adapter if it's a back connection. I have both of these antennas, and am very pleased.

I missed it, but according to the TV schedule, it's on again Mar 30, 10:00 am.

Link should work.... A staff photographer captured the image and a former Charleston firefighter decided to take the FD to task over seeing the crew not wearing their PPE, AFTER all, they just spent nearly a million bucks on equipment, AND, there is a dept policy....

Fixed. Thank You! That was a test...

The correct question would read " where in Westchester is there a career dept without a dive team near a volley dept with a dive team? In the recent past, say, 6 or 7 years ago, this may have been the case, hypothetically, of course.

Chief, with all due respect, and to tell the truth, your claim is patently bogus. The 3 posts which are no longer publicly visible, absolutely contain nothing to support your claims. The posts which were deleted were hollow, and presented no "factual Information" regarding "paid" vs "vollie", as claimed. You are way off base.

You can take simple steps to reduce YOUR chances of becoming a victim of Identity Theft. Such documents should be shredded before they are thrown out in the garbage."
