  1. Happy Father's Day to all the DAD''s out there!!!
  2. Very sorry to hear of your loss. May he rest in peace.
  3. You guys MUST be Blondes....
  4. It looks like this was a third-party damage. Someone regrading the ground behind the store with a machine ripped out the buried tank's fill valve.
  5. In my opinion, V+T law should be re-written to require anyone that operates a motor vehicle involved in an accident that causes serious injury to anyone else, be automatically tested for alcohol AND drugs. No such thing as a refusal, no warrant needed. No nothing. Make the law state: you hurt someone, you give a blood/ urine / hair sample. Period. No "youthful offender", for this, either.
  6. Maybe OJ thought they were his, and he was simply taking them back....yeah, that's the ticket....
  7. Except, we really don't want the routine calls being posted, that everyone gets, that would only clutter things up. We absolutely encourage our members to post qualifying incidents, but please, be sure to follow the IA posting guidelines, and follow the template for doing so.
  8. These "reality" shows are for the birds....along with pretty much all the other "network" entertainment programming.... What some people will do for money..... I mean, really.... 'nuff said.
  9. Con Edison had a peak of 34,720 customers out of power due to effects from the storm, and have restored almost 28, 000 to service. Close to 7, 000 customers are still out, system-wide, as of right now.
  10. Jill is a new member on the site, and I would like to publicly thank her for sharing her thoughts, and granting us permission to post her work!
  11. Okay....here goes..... Bravo!!! Way to go, Boss!
  12. Get ready for the heat!!! The National Weather Service says a heat wave will develop Saturday and last through at least Monday. Forecasters say temperatures could reach near 100 degrees, fueled by a Bermuda high. The humidity will also increase. The weather service says heat index values will easily make it into the upper 90s and possibly even reach 100 degrees or higher. The first heat wave of the season is expected to last into the early part of next week. What are the types of dehydration? Dehydration is classified as mild, moderate or severe based on how much of the body fluid is lost, estimated by loss in bodyweight. Mild dehydration is the loss of no more than 5 to 6 percent loss of body weight. Loss of 7 to 10 percent is considered moderate. Loss of over 10 percent in bodyweight is considered severe and requires immediate medical attention. Know the signs and symptoms of heat stress. You should know what to do in response to heat stress and be aware of major heat disorders including: Heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and heat cramps. Watch out for symptoms of heat stress in co-workers. Look for co-workers who: appear to have stopped sweating, are sweating very heavily, are disoriented or confused, appear unusually tired, or are expressing signs of feeling faint. When you are working in a hot environment, listen to what your body is telling you. If you don’t feel well (nausea, dizzy, disoriented, dim or gray vision), STOP! Let someone know you may be having a problem. Heat stroke is a life threatening condition that can occur when the body is unable to regulate its temperature or cool itself. An individual suffering from heat stroke may have skin that is hot and dry to the touch. Warning signs of heat stroke include: extremely high body temperature; red, hot and dry skin; rapid strong pulse; dizziness; nausea; confusion and unconsciousness. Immediate medical attention is required Be safe out there. Remember Drink Plenty of Fluids! • Avoid drinks containing alcohol, sugar and caffeine. These drinks can increase dehydration. http://www.sqwincher.com/

  22. Are the bicycles a part of the regular equipment carried on some of those vehicles? Reminds me of a few years back, a train heading north out of GCT on the Hudson line, started track fires all the way up the line from Yonkers to Croton! Every department along this side of the river had a call on the tracks from this one "rogue train"! ( I don't remember the exact cause, I think it was maybe one wheel seized-up, and was spewing sparks )

  24. I can't see too many advantages, but can think of several DIS-advantages... Let's look for example, how many Gallons of water do you have to start out with? How about if you park the engine close enough to the vehicle on fire to use this deck gun, then you're too close. What about the direction of the runoff containing sooty water, gasoline, oil, whatever,.. this slime comes back at you and your guys track it all over the place... You get the idea...
