I kind of liked the old site better. I noticed the Apparatus Plate Assignment links under Fire Services and 60 Control display two different expiration dated lists.

It's still a hole in the ground, filled with water, off Fisher Ave, and of course, Marbledale Rd. If you click on street view on Fischer, there are a couple of monuments and plaques with a bit of the quarry history. But you have to go there to read them. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=...mp;t=h&z=15 [edit] pin A is the fisher Ave quarry, pin B is the Leewood Rd quarry

Nice piece of specialty equipment. It has a pretty substantial oil burner mounted inside, it fires at (nine million) 9,000,000 BTU @ maximum power, that's roughly 64 gallons of fuel oil an hour.

He has not yet been formally charged with arson, but sources say he deliberately set the fire to cover the murders. If the investigation concludes he was responsible for the fire, he would likely be hit with first or second degree felony charges for the fire, in addition to any other charges.

The 2007 NFPA Report on FireFighter Fatalities gives some insight to the sudden cardiac cases. The entire report is an eye-opener. http://www.iaff.org/08News/PDF/NFPAReport.pdf It would be very interesting to see a comparison with other occupations. [edit] Okay, here's some data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics / scroll to Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries http://www.bls.gov/iif/

Very tragic, indeed. I always wonder, in cases like these... if working smoke detectors would have made for a different outcome.... With the new evidence, it would not have mattered

There's much more than Insurance portability. Release of patient information (PHI) by medical entities would violate patient privacy rule which falls under the accountability segment of Title II

For those who post photos: Please take a minute and review the site requirements for posting photos on EMTBravo. http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=24767 I'm confident that practically everyone who visits enjoys viewing member submitted pictures of apparatus and action shots from incidents and other events, but unfortunately many of us have gotten away from following the site photo ownership statement policy. Concerns have been raised about the origin of certain photographs posted on EMTBravo, and therefore it is incumbent on the poster to state ownership or identify the photographer and/or that you have obtained permission for it's use. As stated in the guidelines we reserve the right to remove posts that do not follow the above requirements. Thanks for reading. Jack

The cop came to her house and issued her another ticket? WOW, who did she piss off, big-time ????

Great pictures! I see your operating personnel wear fluorescent / reflective high-visibility vests in addition to their turnout gear whilst working the accident scene. Smart move. As a reminder, that's something which will becoming a requirement, here, very soon: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=27656

Hi John, Thanks for sharing your vintage photos. I think I can safely say for most everyone here that we all love to see these old shots! Keep 'Em Coming! Joyce (x621) says HI! Good to see you around on the boards! take care Jack

Nicely done site! Good Job!

For one thing, so units involved in the drill can become familiar with what is expected of them in establishing a flight landing zone, and doing so under controlled conditions.

[edit]Not many have[/edit] brought their department guidelines to the table for discussion, but it's early yet. The NFPA 1582 Standard's medical exam timeframe requirement is clear. If it was myself in your shoes, the next step would be to ask your Chief to reconsider his decision, based on the language in the standard above, and failing that, request a copy of the department's adopted written policy regarding the department requirements under the (above) NFPA Standard. Your local policy may well state you have 14 or x# days to get certified, or else.... If you still don't receive satisfaction, you could always appeal your case to your board of Chief's or fire commissioners or fire council or what have you, in order to modify the policy if needed.

According to NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments, 7.3- Timing of the Annual Occupational Medical Evaluation of Members. bold/italic emphasis mine So, by looking at that, it appears your exam was completed within the give-or-take +/- 3 month timeframe allowed. If you went beyond 15 months without a medical, then that's another story. In my opinion, unless you failed any segments of the medical evaluation that precludes active status, you should not be on probationary status for the timing issue alone. We have no clue how fast the rig was traveling, but even at under 30MPH, a T-Bone crash is going to be pretty serious for the recipient. Look closely at the photo (enlarged) and you can see there was a pretty good amount of intrusion on the driver's door, add in the possibility of no seat belt use, and there you have it. The deceased's age may well have been a factor in the root cause and eventual outcome. Octogenarian vehicle operators is a whole 'nother topic.

The Westchester Trunked Radio System is fully operational (has been for a full year now) and is currently only used by various Fire /EMS providers, Westchester County Transit, ( Bee Line Bus ) and 12 area hospitals, including Greenwich. Per RR, "All talkgroups are recorded. Tactical talkgroups are not monitored by 60 Control." Police are not using it for operations, but I would imagine most if not all PD agencies have the capability to use it, when and if needed.

I don't think there are very many motorists out there who would pull over for vehicles displaying a blue light or even know what it's for, anyway.
