  1. I would think the best way is have your agency leadership contact 60 Control, and find out about getting onto a EMS talkgroup (EMS-10) already established on the county-wide trunked radio system. If you need to buy new radios for the trunked system, the County may have grants available to help offset the cost of your radio purchases.
  2. Way to go, Mark. And thanks for your continued support of the site.
  3. Even if Yorktown had an unmanned station on 134 it probably would not have made any difference, since the majority of manpower probably has to come from the north part of town anyway. An automatic dual-response for any reported structure fire may have had some impact if first arriving units had a manageable "room-and-contents" job. Perhaps the only thing putting a station down there could improve is those resident's fire insurance ratings, by having apparatus located under 5 miles, which is the same thing a fire protection contract with Millwood Fire District would accomplish.
  4. Thanks, guys! The movers will be here in a few hours... still lot's to do!
  5. Thanks, Lisa. Barb & Joe are a couple of wonderful people. We go way back.
  6. Interesting topic. It can be taken in another direction: how about where you have a pet in the house, and you have the sole occupant who for whatever reason gets emergency transport to the hospital, now what happens to the pet? Who is going to care for it?
  7. It's in a naturist community, AKA clothing optional.
  8. YO, there were four flats, he had the car up on blocks, he was only taking the tires to get fixed..... yeah, that's it.....
  9. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

  11. Thanks very much, Chief.
  12. It looks strikingly similar to a typical 9000 gallon fuel delivery tanker.
  13. Judging from a few recent discussions we've seen concerning specialty apparatus coming into Yonkers, it appears to me that the powers-that-be down there have a very good handle on ensuring the in-house resources they might need to cover virtually any kind of event are at their disposal, and are readily available. We need to remember: in addition to being the fourth largest city in New York State, they are also the next-door-neighbors of the number-one-terrorist-target-city in the entire world.
  14. Thanks, Lisa. I was going to mention Barb's beautiful wreaths. We've enjoyed their trees and wreaths for years! Anyone interested can just drop by, and pick out and cut their own tree. Patrick will load it onto your roof for you while you enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or cider! Happy Thanksgiving to all, as well.
  15. They are all volunteers. He was receiving a stipend, getting paid for acting as a part-time station steward. One of his jobs was he would periodically take the trucks out for "test runs" and maybe clean the bathrooms, and what not. A lot of companies have members that are paid do this kind of a job.
  16. Healthy, too! Those items are in the FOUNDATION of the USDA Food Group Pyramid. Everyone knows, you need balanced nutrition!

  18. Some good shots. This was a friend of mine's house, it had to have been going pretty good for a while, before anyone realized. PoJo story: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article...ONTPAGECAROUSEL
  19. There was a working house fire today in LaGrange, as it turns out this was an old friend of mine's house! I've known Joe and Barbara for over 35 years. What a shame for them to lose everything like this. Thanks to all the responders for a valiant effort, and I'm glad no one was hurt. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=...mp;t=h&z=16 http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article...ONTPAGECAROUSEL Some PJ photos: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pb...0802&Ref=PH IA: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=28698

  23. I heard the lamp post prevented the Squad from crashing into the store on the corner, there were dozens of people shopping who could have been killed.
