This topic is being closed since this story is about a guy who got into a situation off duty, and not as a result of his employment as an EMT.

Cause and origin? Biblical?

Any Pictures? You guys "up there" are usually right on-it! LOL

Has anyone tried a water immersion experiment with full structural PPE on? Suppose someone fell off the dock, How long do you think that someone can keep their head above water in wet bunkers, boots, gloves, a pack, and all that"other gear"??? ( in deep water) If they DO get "in trouble" who's going to go in and get him/her? Another similarly dressed member?

I can't imagine why the company would be reluctant to participate in a photo op / press event for a major circus?

Last I heard, Bill uses a 21.4 MP Canon 5D MK II. Professional level equipment, to say the least. I don't know what lenses he is working with, but the glass is just as important as the body for capturing good quality images. Then there is the post production image editing software and the time invested in pulling it all together for publication. Bill has a unique knack (say that three times fast) for capturing and delivering the intensity of his subjects, and we're very fortunate that he is so generous about sharing his photos with us.

An illustration of the Detroit Door Opener in use: Great stuff!

I'm curious, from an environmental standpoint, just how much waste oil was on the property and how it was stored, that it managed to escape containment and flow freely on the ground...?

This is something not only young drivers should see, but ALL drivers. Although this is a movie with actors playing the parts, it is VERY realistic. Please make sure your teens see this....it will have an impact I promise. The film shows how a brief lapse in concentration can have devastating consequences. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/8203120.stm

It appears going by the decal and markings that the PD took over as the lead agency operating the craft.

Thanks for sharing. She's pretty lucky if all she had was a broken leg. Rte 22 is very twisty that whole stretch around there, I've always been surprised there aren't more accidents.

So far, it appears no site data was lost, just server/ hosting issues which caused visitors and members access problems. There have been several DOS (denial of service) incidents on the NET recently, however none appear to have been directed at us. We're looking into the cause of the outage, and it seems to be resolved for now. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

You're officially OLD. (it's not as bad as it sounds!) Welcome to the club! Happy Birthday!!!

Hmmm..... apparatus placement.....

Very well designed rig. I really like the on-board compound sliding miter saw...custom-made specialty cribbing, on the spot. Nice.

I did a little re-lettering on the boom for ya:

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing - Hawthorne FD 19:00 Tonight This had to be a very rough scene for all first responders. If you were there, Even if you think you feel okay now, it helps to talk about it.
-
If this is the type of response trend we're likely to see continuing in what is mostly considered an affluent area, can you imagine what it must be like in a poor, or rural "upstate" area?

Looking at aerial shots and videos which are now available, the impact was just north of the 117 exit ramp, so she must have gotten on the parkway south bound from Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff.
-
The northbound exit ramp where they apparently got on heading south has a keep right graphic sign ( to get on Northbound ), a ONE WAY arrow and DO NOT ENTER signs at Bedford Rd: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=88...,129.64,,0,2.25 and then a few hundred yards down there are two WRONG WAY signs: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=88...,191.02,,1,4.83 (Give street-view a few seconds to load and grab the North indicator and rotate the images 180° looking south to see the ramp)

This topic took an interesting turn, It seems the "requirement" for clear text or plain English has increased the amount of radio transmissions, and the time it takes to confirm receipt of a message. Where is the need for a dispatcher to repeat word-for-word, a message they just received from a unit in the field, especially when it's not something urgent, such as a critical patient report. New way: Unit: "This is engine 9000 returning to station 4885 from the incident scene at 12345 whodunit street...K" Dispatch: "Engine 9000 in service, returning to station 4885 from 12345 whodunit street at 23:34. Old way: Unit: engine 9000 10-8, 10-2 Dispatch: 10-4
