On your Forum's Home Page there is a Recent Topics option which you can expand or collapse by clicking the + or - icon in the header bar. Clicking on the topic title here takes you to to the bottom (newest) post. You can scroll up to see older posts, or if you want to view the whole topic from the start, just go the the forum the topic is located in and open it from there.

This time window was established to prevent confusion and a loss of continuity when posts were edited long after they were posted. Editing in many cases caused subsequent messages to lose their meaning or relevance.

Very nice looking! Great job on the restoration! Patrol 16 has some serious competition on the street.

Absolutely, you can program the 5 north zone and 3 south zone trunk system frequencies into a conventional scanner and you will hear stuff (as long as you are within range), the only potential problem is since the system frequency used during a conversation can change every time someone keys up, you could end up not hearing parts. Plus there can be radio traffic you might not necessarily want to hear, ie: the Bee Line Bus, that interrupts a conversation you were following. Just make sure you leave out the primary control channels (listed in red) or all you will hear is something that sounds like a diesel engine running all the time!

Thanks for that bit of info, nh, I edited my rant accordingly.

Congratulations, YANKEES!!! It's too bad Fox Sports couldn't show the same "class" seeing as how they "neglected" to air the opening ceremonies OR the seventh-inning stretch! SHAME ON FOX

Not only did FOX not show the Seventh-Inning-Stretch, they left out the pre-game ceremony, including the National Anthem and moment of silence!!! SHAME ON FOX <click

Is the capitol budget funding for the EMS Chief's new vehicle back on the table as well, in addition to a new bus? I hope so, I mean especially since it has already been previously appropriated, so long as it is still needed.

1 million fps Super Slow Motion showing various bullet impacts, striking different surfaces. The videos are amazing, (IMO, the audio is best left muted) I know for sure I never want to get hit by a bullet!

Continuing along the lines of the (mis)use of respirators, there has been plenty of photographic evidence right here, of individuals operating at scenes with a mask, and with what appears to be facial hair in excess of what is permitted. This particular infraction would fall under two categories: A) the respirator operator is supposed be accountable for knowledge of the facial hair allowance, (supposedly) covered during mandatory annual OSHA respirator refresher training; and: B ) the officer in charge of his personnel at a scene should know if a member is in violation of the facial hair requirements, and prohibit said member from operating with a respirator while in violation of aforementioned requirements, or possibly be held liable for any injury which may occur to any members operating under his command in violation of OSHA requirements. "But, hey, I get a good seal...." And, of course, the State Labor Department just happened to come along and check Mohegan's records...

It's great news that the suspect has been quickly apprehended. On behalf of the staff of EMTBravo I'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone for understanding our initial closure of posts. The reason discussions were suspended here on the forums is that the incident itself was a crime scene under active investigation, and that piece of information was NOT public. Additionally, the families of those involved may not have been notified, and we didn't want to be the ones to publish possibly undisclosed or misleading information.

God bless FF Joyce, May he rest in peace. Prayers and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Get well soon, Lt. Murray and FF Kanych.

SOP...(SOG?) City Hall back-room and/or under-the-table deals don't get announced or press coverage until they see the light of day, after it becomes a scandal and subsequent damage control comes complete with finger pointing.

County transit has their own talkgroups (channels) but I can't imagine that there would be that much bus chatter so that it would cause a system-busy delay for any others trying to use the radio. There are three frequencies available in the Southern zone and five in the North zone, so there should be no problem for multiple users communicating amongst themselves on different talkgroups simultaneously. Prior to my moving out of the local listening area, with the implementation of the Trunked sytem I noticed a significant improvement in the ability of different units operating on multiple incidents being able to communicate without interference. Plus, it freed up 46.26 for dispatch traffic.

Back in the 70's when I first became involved in the volunteer fire service, very few agencies had a "tool" and those departments that did were considered "wealthy". Over the years it seems more departments now have multiple extrication capabilities, insofar as "old" tools are kept in service when upgraded equipment is purchased. Thank you to our very own Chief Flynn for pointing out (once again) the obvious need for consolidation of Westchester Departments, and to Captain Nechis for quantifying the baseline cost factors. Don't get me wrong, you guys are "preaching to the choir" here. I don't think anyone reading doubts the need. The concept has to be embraced at a much higher level of County or even State government, to be implemented. But Please, do, keep beating that drum. Eventually it'll be heard. I don't believe it was Ed's intent for this topic to take this turn, but it remains something that needs ongoing discussion.

Just when you thought there could be no more surprises coming out of City Hall... Personal note to Chief Everett: Retirement is bliss.
