Congrats to our Connecticut Brothers! We're still awaiting a similar outcome for a Lower-Westchester case.

RIP, Officers Owens,Griswold, Richards, and Sgt. Renninger. This was such a senseless act.

I *finally* got the Speed Channel when I upgraded my expiring triple play package last week. Looking forward to watching some Wrecked episodes!

John, Did anyone record it to upload on youtube?

The bus ID's must have been programmed in by someone at some point, and apparently they have been re-enabled. They have to be locked out or deleted if you don't want to hear that traffic. ID scan will pick up any traffic programmed in and not locked out, ID search will pick up all group traffic, ID programmed or not.
-
ID scan is the mode you want. Someone must have accidentally (or intentionally) enabled the Bee-Line Bus talkgroup ID's, but they can be locked out again. If you have access to the ARC software from BuTel, and a suitable cable you can attach to the scanner, it is pretty straightforward.... (yeah, right!) You can download the ARC software and it has a free trial period. Otherwise they can manually be locked out, follow the steps in the manual. For a condensed, easy-to-read version check out Mark's Scanners: http://marksscanners...T15/bct15.shtml

Today is Veterans Day and a United States holiday. Today marks the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day, first proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson, November 11 1919, to honor those who served in WW-I, and thereafter changed to Veterans Day, to honor all veterans, "a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace" Thank you, to those who gave some, and for those who gave all, may you rest in peace.

Not having E-911 capability that a wired land-line provides is a major trade-off for a reduced monthly cost VOIP services generally offer. VOIP providers are required make you aware, and that you understand the 911 service differences and accept the service as offered despite the shortcomings. The above is not altogether true for fixed cable provider digital-voice plans, like Optimum Voice for example, where the service is tied directly to a physical address. These are not true VOIP systems, however the same applies that you might not be able to dial 911 if your cable service goes out, or during a power outage. Saving money could end up costing a lot more than you think.

Very odd selling a two-year-old apparatus. If this topic was posted around, say, the very beginning of April, I might think it was more behind it....

Glad you got past the first hurdle! It's good to have you back!
-
Trey, I'm looking into why your pictures won't post. Please bear with us. Thanks for your patience.

Time sure flies! I remember when you started it up back in the day. In fact Joyce was the one who told ME about it! She even joined before me, LOL!!! The site has grown considerably, in many more ways than one could have imagined, back then. Congratulations!!!

Clicking on a topic title on the home page in the Recent Topics section, takes you to the first entry in a post. I believe this should be changed to take you to the most recent post. I find it can be a nuisance especially if there are multiple pages in a thread. What does everyone else think? Comments? Suggestions?
-
UPDATE: For the meantime, Seth has modified the Recent Topics forum set up to take the reader to the most recent post. If you wish to navigate to the page first topic post, click on the ^Top button in the lower left corner of the post, or drag the scroll bar. Further forum enhancements are underway. Stay tuned!

HOLY Smoke! +1 Fixed it for ya, John!

That's the point the common council is seemingly hanging their hat on: why not use the shift schedule as a "carrot", and follow it up with other demands, for keeping it...(stick)

I got my BCD996T couple of years ago, and I love it. I also got a BC246T portable. I would have been literally lost without the ARC software from BuTel, and a subscription to Radio Reference to use their Web Service for the ARC software to access system frequencies and trunk ID database, that really helped. After getting through all that, the manual programming instructions made a little more sense, but it is definitely not for those with a short attention span! I saw that the scanner has a tone-out mode but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a scanner in my opinion: It can't scan while in FTO. Enjoy your new scanner!

Frenchie477 writes: frenchie, you can change your View/Posting/Email preferences in "your options" under My Settings / Forums. It sounds from what you describe that you have yours set for OUTLINE, and you probably want it set to STANDARD.

We're looking into that posting issue for you, please advise what browser and OS you are using. Thank you for your patience.

That statement can apply to virtually ANY fire department, *insert name*, anywhere, paid or otherwise. True, the majority of Mobile Home fires result in a smoldering pile of ashes, with very little if any content worthwhile left to salvage. It gets so hot so fast inside one of these that there is usually nothing left, pretty quickly. One more reason to mention: working smoke detectors save lives!
