Four guys on a 1-1/2" pre-connect...???

Disney and Cablevision have combined gross revenues of over 10 BILLION... per QUARTER....!!!! That's 40 BILLION a year! and they are quibbling over a measly 40 million. NYA NYA NYA..."it's my ball, and I'm going home."

I would be interested to see the total number of calls 60 handled during the storm. I bet it's in the high-hundreds. We were listening to an online scanner for a few hours and I was getting a headache! Unbelievable! Great job, 60!

I can't believe another stopped Trooper vehicle got rear ended on the side of the road. I'm beyond words....

Yes, they all have the capability. The trunked system for those agencies would likely only be used during a mutual aid scenario, where they were operating outside of their own jurisdictions.

The list of the agencies assigned to the different channels by Westchester DES are as follows: http://www.westchestergov.com/emergserv/jdocs/FireEMSBattTrunk.pdf

Huge mess! The road has only a slight bend to the left there, it appears something happened with the steering that caused the tractor to flip.

It's a legitimate question given the discussions we've seen regarding adequate trained manpower for responding to fires. Let's keep the discussion on topic!

Puffery. The Stop & Shop they were visiting is approximately 3 minutes from their station.

In this case, the good 'ol boy network swung into action, and stuck it to these nurses, BIG TIME. They eventually will get their day in court, and probably will prevail, but in the meantime their daily lives have been wrecked beyond comprehension. That they were arrested in the first place is a crime in and of itself.

Babbit Court has flooded a couple of times, since then. A few homeowners jacked up their houses to add a 1 story "basement" underneath!!!

That's what Tiger Woods said.

Congratulations, Chief Cullen. County Exec. Astorino made a wise decision.

I believe the whole point of these discussions is to shine a light on emergency response times as a whole, not to insinuate that a particular department or district has issues or systemic failures. These run data need to be scrutinized in order to determine and/or prove that it's working, something needs improvement, or, it's broken and is in need of fixing. It can become uncomfortable to have your own department or a neighboring department under the microscope. It's not personal.

Happy Groundhog Day!!! Six more weeks of Winter! Punxsutawney Phil (the most famous groundhog) DID SEE his shadow! Did you see yours?

Congrat's Irvington! Nice looking Engine.

Lesson learned: This can happen to anyone, Don't let it be you. Mattydale hose-lays make it easier to quickly pull a line, but unfortunately as we have seen these flat hose loads can come off too easily, on their own. How many departments have a cargo net or other restraining system in place on their apparatus to prevent unintentional hose deployment?

Another touching tribute video for Trooper Jill.

I was listening to an online scanner earlier today and it sounded like 60 Control was getting hammered!

If this individual who caused the "confusion" had chosen to conduct his morning prayer ritual in the privacy of his home or hotel room, rather than in the confines of an in-flight jet aircraft, there would not have been an episode. The excuse that it is commonly seen on flights to and from Israel has no bearing.

Yes, indeed, Get well soon Sgt. Working "solo" on the overnight tour is a fact of life for many agencies, and not just small PD's. When I was working at ConEd on "midnight" shift out of Eastview, I was the only gas supervisor on duty for all Westchester, along with four mechanics. There were those occasions when we had few (if any) calls and we would not be in touch unless necessary. One night one of my guys who was riding alone became ill in his truck. When he opened the door he collapsed, fell out on the ground and hit his head on the blacktop. We don't know how long he was passed out for, he could have been there for a while. Luckily he was standing-by in our yard and not out on the road somewhere. When he regained consciousness he called me, and I took him up the hill to WMC. Long story/short, he was Ok, but it could have been a lot worse.

Congratulations!

It seems many areas have little more than "blue sky" river rescue response. That is, a fair weather, seasonal-only capability. Throw in rough weather conditions and ice into the mix, and you get the picture. This is not a knock on those providers, they simply don't have the proper equipment. We have dozens of tower-ladders and double that number for engines, sitting warm and snug in their respective houses, and we have very few boats, if any, that can do a year-round river rescue. That has to change. From what I can tell, little or nothing has improved since Sully safely put his plane in the river.

A link to the Mt. Kisco Union Hook and ladder Company website has some images. Congratulations, New Fairfield, on your new rig! http://www.hooks14.c...View&News_ID=28

With the proliferation of new scanner technology and Trunked Radio Systems being widely deployed, it is important to find out how to program these new receivers in order to obtain the most benefit from them. Additionally unless you have a newer trunk-tracking capable scanner, monitoring a Trunked System talk-group's conversations becomes difficult if not impossible to follow. Fortunately there are many websites with much of the necessary information. Help is often only a few clicks away, and questions posted here at EMTBravo Network are always welcome. I have a few sites here, but please feel free to add any sites you have that can expand the list.
