A decorated EMS officer is under investigation for allegedly shooting several subordinates for fun with a BB gun in their Brooklyn battalion headquarters, The Post has learned http://www.nypost.com/seven/02172009/news/...b_b__155580.htm Not the brightest bulb in the pack

Scope out the whole picture 1. As jack10562 indicated can your hospital support electronic submissions, if so, find out what software and hardware they support. 2. What is your department plans for the data collected, archiving and submission to the state are all factors to consider. I started to look at ePCR systems for my department a few years back and found the area facilities were not ready to support them, and the expense to get them online for record keeping was steep. I am sure things have improved, but do your homework before making the jump. The toughbooks are great units, but I have seen others that have good durability without the hefty price tag.

Looks like this guy is going on a LONG vacation, after adding up all the various assult charges both on his family and police officers. As mentioned lucky no one was seriously injured.

My condolences to Barry and his Family on thier loss.. Warren will be greatly missed in the community RIP Stuart

As of 00:00 02/05/09, Putnam Valley VAC is using this system for responding to calls.. we are no longer calling Putnam 911 to find out "what is needed" or "Who is coming to where?" Time will tell if this new system, helps or hinders the response of the department. We currently cover over 90% of our calls (I don't have exact number, but it is rare that we need mutual aid for 1st call in district). Like anything new there will always be pushback: some members are technology challenged, some don't have cellphones, some don't own computers (or want them). So far from what I have seen, most of the department is onboard and has no issue. Note: Statments are my own and are not made on behalf of Putnam Valley VAC

I would give it a 9.5 for originality of vehicle placement.. Pics look good. Another example of a driver in a 4wd thinking they dont have to slow down.. 4WD = Further in the Woods .... (being a BMW just adds to it, they are thinking, "I am invincible on the road, I'm in a $50,000 SUV")

I was asking about the double door compartments on the side, not the back. Thanks for the quick reply.
-
Looks nice.. good luck with it. Question: Do the amber warning lights have a purpose on the inside of the double door cabinets?? It looks like they are obscured with both doors open.. Question: Can you walk around this rig when it is in the bay? If memory serves, CVAC's bays were real tight, the bumpers were against the back wall.

I believe the Fire District is the one contracting with TransCare, not the towns.

Remember 9/11, initial dispatch was a "'small plane into the building" At 80 stories up, it may have appeared that way.. In this case it was small, smaller than a 747... Glad to hear everyone got out with minimal injuries... This pilot should get some type of award for "coolness under pressure", not only to have a clear head to get away from populated space, but to put this plane down intact on an icy river. If it wasnt for the doors being open, and filling with water, they probably could have towed it back to Laguardia Airport.

Question for those on scene: Is it normal to have the ambulance that close to the vehicles involved, or was there something the pictures dont show correctly?? 3rd or 4th pic looks like the Alamo rig is about 5-10 feet from the car..
-
I am glad that they have some closure after 27 years. But I have to ask would this case have stayed active if John Walsh was not in the spotlight with AMW and other venues?? It would seem to me that a case of this age would be shelved, unless new evidence recently appeared. What is the normal procedure for these types of cases?

I used to work for Empire State (Now HVP), as an EMT. The dispatcher relies on the facility to give valid information about the patient's condition, so the proper assistance can be provided. I am sure this is the case in all dispatch locations, 911 or private. (Example - dispatch tells me "pt has dificulty moving" {ok, BLS job}, when I arrive at the facilty I find patient in bed with hip fracture/dislocation from fall onto tile floor 4+ hrs prior, and someone at the facility put them back in bed for the "day shift to handle", now it is ALS job, the patient is in shock and cant move anything below the waist. - yes, this a true story from a local nursing home) You can't fully blame the agency for poor information obtained, nor can I say the issues raised about "pulling" ALS don't occur. I have been sent to many jobs, that not only should have had ALS, but should have been a 911 job, not a transport. Facilities need to contact the best agency for the problem, not just the one that is under contract. - My 2 Cents-

AIR HORNS - For use when the 200 watt siren is not penetratating the "'new sound proof steel" of todays cars or getting the attention of the young adults driving with a 1000 watt sound system.. I would like to see this harness in use, to see if it impeds working on a patient. Our Corps is specing a new rig, it may be something to consider.

The Tribough Bridge is the one being renamed, but regardless, thousands being spent so more people can get lost...

Bloomberg fought to be allowed to run for another term, just in time to ensure they won't want him....

Sounds like more than the parents are at fault for handing an full-auto wepon to a child. While it may be 'allowed' per the article, common sense should dictate not handing it to a child. As far as gun safety, If you posses a gun in your home everyone should be aware of proper handling and gun safety. I feel if the child in the home is shown proper safety, it is less likely to be a 'show and tell' item to friends, in turn cutting down the chance of an accident. I was shown proper handling when I was young by my father, and it was never a toy. My 2 cents

The C2E looks like a good option, no matter what way you secure a vehicle, if someone is determined enough they will find a way to get the vehicle.. The best way(and cheapest) to prevent it is diligent observation on a scene.. If someone does not look like they belong they probably don't..

I would think the proximity to houses would be a reason to use the helicopter to minimize any potential fire damage, especially if they are on the 2nd or 3rd visit to this same area for rekindle. As mentioned the Rangers would be the experts on how best to approach, good job by all to contain the fire.

If the Patient is alert and oriented, explain the reason to expiditing transport via medevac. Still declines - advise medical control, and document. Dont further delay transport, get on the road.

Maybe he thought a Chevy would work better than a Dodge against Stationary objects... Just a guess his insurance carrier will be "hand delivering" the cancellation notice. I don't think they want to chance this guy driving through the office.. Next Vehicle: a bicycle with training wheels.. Great job by the FD..

Who to Blame ?? 1. Financial companies knowingly writing loans for people that could never afford the payments once the rates increased. 2. The people that took the loans knowing they could never afford it... Yes, I know some shady dealing went on in the industry, but you can't tell me 'everyone' didnt read the fine print on the loans... these people know what they signed and out right knew unless they hit the lottery they could not afford to buy the house.. And as stated above regardless of this bailout passing or not, the middle class is going to get screwed... The ones that couldn't afford it before, got a 2-3 yr 'vacation' in a house that they otherwise could never have lived in.. and now the rest of us will be paying for the foreseeable future..
