Sounds like the new engine will be parked under a tarp outside for the forseeable future, under this matter gets resolved.. IMO, I agree with Bnechis, if your name is showing up on the report recommending this engine, then your own measurements better be in it. (If they were, then the consultant missed the boat, and owes more than just fees)

Monte North usually runs 2 classes a year, one started January. Putnam County just started an original/refresh class about 3 weeks ago. You may need to wait until the summer/fall to get a class.

Great Pics!!! I saw you taking them while manning the field hospital on fair street.

I saw these lights at the Baltimore show last year, they wobble for constant lighting. But they are not the ones used on the final unit pictured.

How much more effective is the 'cool bar' for warning, over some of the units that i have seen with these lights flush mounted on box? Just wondering if this design may make sense on units without the a/c issue as well.

My VAC has been requested to do a standby during the Funeral. We have been advised that the roads in the area of the Church will have limited access after 7am, those attending please keep this in mind. RIP Officer - Your dedication to service will be remembered

Water on the fire is still water on the fire, no where does it say it cant be in a frozen state when used. Besides he was doing double duty, he cleared a path for the firemen to enter the home safely. I'd give him points for thinking outside the box..

Anyone know if NYSEG or Con-Ed are offering a similar program ??

These numbers should be accessible to the public. The numbers can be made to sound as good or bad as someone wants, but without the full picture of how these were generated they dont mean much. A good example in EMS: Does the response time stop at 1st medically trained person arriving (ALS flycar, CFR, EMT in POV with gear), or does it stop when an ambulance arrives? Depending on the answer, the response time can be skewed by a significant amount yet the patient is getting treated (Which is our goal) and the need to expidite transport is mitigated. In many cases ambulances can be told to 'slow down' once the patient has been evaluated, reducing the risk to the responding crew and the public at large. A number that does not get mentioned much in stats is 'on scene' time. If the patient is prepped for transport prior to ambulance arrival, this time is dimished greatly, in turn getting the patient to a facility quicker (Again, how the numbers are generated).

I think the Refs association needs to step up and make a major donation to Breast Cancer.. for their lack of thought before imposing this penalty.

They Look nice!! Hope to not see them in my rearview mirror... Anyone know if these cars will make an appearance at the Road Knights car show at Peekskill RiverFront Green on Sunday?

Yes 108.5 he is lucky, and I wish him and his the family the best for a smooth recovery. I don't know any details of how these tryouts are conducted, but where is the supervision? I am sure someone saw the signs of heat stroke or had the responsibility of overseeing the participants to catch this before this officer collapsed.

As a member of one of the agencies that "backs up" Mohegan on a frequent basis, I am glad that they have made the decision to augment coverage. But, coverage is not a 9-5 problem, for them or many other departments. Unfortunately for Mohegan, the area has an abundance of senior, low income and mildly insured residents, that drive up call volumes for minor issues. As for where the money goes, one of their members mentioned to me a few years back, that Yorktown gets reimbursed some amount for the Empress Medic from the billing. I don't have anything to prove it, but it would make sense.

Speedy recovery for the trooper involved. I can only guess the SUV driver assumed that they could do highway speed since they had a 4 wheel drive. I have seen it first hand at accidents on the TSP in Putnam County. The closest many SUV drivers have seen to off-road is when they miss there driveway coming home from work.. "4 Wheel Drive = Further in the woods you will need to go to help them"

Congrats to the Crew!!! While MOM did the hard work, the crew deserves a stork pin for their assistance.

Question, how many departments track 'missed' calls (2nd/3rd call in district, lack of equipment, M/A coverage, etc.) and what kind of numbers are being seen?
-
