If you are on the east side of town with a handy camera, check out the two prop Boston PD RMP's parked opposite Shop Rite on Tuckahoe Road at the Yonkers Stages parking lot. Bunch of other vehicles too, including a NYC OCME van and the Bayonne Cleaners truck from "American Gangster". The two Boston cars are likely the same ones from "The Departed" Not sure which film or TV show all these will be used for, heard a Jack Nicholson film will soon shoot at this location. The trucks and campers nearby are for Bronx filming of feature film "Doubt" which partially shot in Yonkers on Kimball Ave @ McLean in a church weeks back. They were supposed to shoot in the city hall courtroom. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Those buildings on Riverdale may end up converted to market rate( or even higher) priced housing when their state financed mortgages are paid off very, very soon. This has already occured in NYC with several structures under the Mitchell Lama program. The ones are Riverdale were built under the state Section 278 program with the same state financed mortgages. Any old timers remember the Ed Agramonte gun store that was formerly located on Riverdale at the site of those projects?? Seems like yesterday!!! Congratulations to Truck 4 on his promotion, remember to swing through 101 sector please. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Well here is a good question and a timely one for the immigration debate: Why can't local law enfocement get access to the Fed's database of illegal immigrants for use during routine traffic stops and during other situations involving routine warrant checks??? Sounds simple to me, but I guess the answer is complicated!!! Couldn't the federal DCJS or statewide NYSPIN systems somehow get linked into the Fed's database??? Many thanks. Great photos Truck 4!!! Where did the years go ??? Where exactly on Riverdale Avenue was that old firehouse torn down during 1970's urban renewal??? Since a smoke stack shows in the right side backround, I am guessing it was located on Riverdale Avenue where Shop Rite now stands??? Or just below Prospect Street where the Riverview monstrosity buildings stand??? Thanks again for the nostalgia and I would like to see some old YPD radio cars if possible. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

How often was their SWAT team actually activated??? I spend time in Hoboken on weekends and overall in the last 20 years or so it has become basically an overpriced Yuppie community with some west side mid rise low income projects left over in the Jackson Street area. So is a SWAT team really needed in a community like this considering Jersey City can always send their own if needed??? And does any municipality have a harbor unit for this end of the Hudson River??? Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

I had a simple, flat Thanksgiving cut out posted outside my front door and it fell about during last week's rain. So I look in the dollar stores for another one and only see Christmas stuff for sale--and Thanksgiving isn't quite here yet.. Next week they will have Valentine's day stuff on display.

What, if anything, can be done to prevent potential house fire from Con Edison's defective, new digital outside electric meters? CBS TV News did a piece the other night about a meter fire that totaled a North Castle home. Their web site prpbably still has the story posted. Thank You. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Many thanks to County PD Aviation last night for their deligent and valued help in searching for the lost elderly Alzheimer's patient on the east side of town. Hopefully, he will soon be located and found unharmed. This one really, really hits home as this member's dad passed away from that dreadful disease this week in 1992. Prayers to the family of this lost gentlemen. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Saw a brand new YPD traffic car parked yesterday with a roof mounted license plate reader and was wondering how many more YPD cars have them mounted like this one? These license plate readers are fascinating to me and are an incredible technical breakthrough for law enforcement. Question: Will these readers work if used through glass? Asking as i wonder if they can somehow be mounted inside of undercover vehicles such as surveillance vans, etc. Thanks and happy weekend to all.

Saw a brief news clip showing so called fire resistant foam being applied to the exterior of producer David Geffen's home. Supposedly it is fire resistant. Is this at all true and who is this so called fire prevention company that was installing it? How would it be safely removed? I would guess it is very toxic. How expensive a process is this? Thanks and stay dry. Too bad LA isn't getting our rain !!!

Anybody from local law enforcement every dealt with the investigators from the Motion Picture Association of America? They are called in to assist on counterfeit DVD arrests and investigations and work out of Executive Blvd, Yonkers. Are their DVD sniffing dogs working up here yet? Asking as a big film buff. Thanks Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Late yesterday afternoon, a handicapped perp was arrested on Elm Street and required transport to the city jail via an ambulance. Who pays the ambulance bill? The perp or the city??? Thanks and Happy Columbus Day Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

My owner's book is buried someplace. How can I change the display color from amber to blue please?? Thanks Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Thanks for the replies. Disgraceful that the city pays the ambulance bill for transport to central booking. It should be no different then when a perp has their auto towed and imponed after committing a crime.

Saw three Greenwich cops performing crossing guard duty on Greenwich Avenue the other day and thought months back this function was to be civilianized.... So what happened? Since the America's best professional burglars ( like the one caught in Belgium recently and featured several times on America's Most Wanted) actively work in Greenwich, why continue to waster precious police resources on cross guard duty? It can be effectively civilianized as done in NYC and many other communities. Thanks Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital
-
But during their public relations stints on Greenwich Avenue, professional burglars are having a field day in other parts of town and don't think they they are unaware of police resources during any given shift, including three cops assigned to crossing duty. NYC and others are successfully civilianized crossing guard duty. Not doing so is a silly waste of police resources needed elsewhere. Remember when I worked in Stamford during the 1980's there was a newspaper piece about a burglary team that used small boats ( not kidding) to commit Greenwich burglaries of homes with docks on the Long Island Sound. One guy was from southwest Yonkers. The professional NYC shoplifting teams have probably made their rounds here too. No disrespect is intended to both the Greenwich PD and local government. Just offering this as a constructive comment. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Is County PD Aviation now continually monitoring local police calls for possible assistance ??? Will they respond without being called first by the local cops? Curious about this after hearing Aviation aiding in a Yonkers perp search last Friday night near 11PM in the area of the closed Mulford Gardens projects. Aviation had apparently spotted three possible suspects from an earlier mugging in nearby Grant Park. They were using some hight tech night vision gizmo. How high up and how close to the street level can they see with this technology? Weeks back there was a simliar search conducted late one afternoon in the vicinity of Bennigans on Executive Blvd, but I caught the tail end of it and don't know the nature of the call. Regardless, it's great knowing County PD Aviation is taking the initiative and responding on it's own to local police calls. Thanks and we welcome your ongoing presence !! Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital P.S.--As part of the ride along program, can a helicopter ride be arranged ????
-
Chris, Thanks for the detailed reply and for always assisting Yonkers PD. Always feels good to be walking around at night and seeing County aviation up there with that flashing green light. Will look up and wave to you next time....look down at the Roosevelt HS track for the only brunette guy in town wearing a purple members only jacket...LOL. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Saw the published bid in the paper the other day for a new Yonkers FD Urban Search and Rescue trailer. Can anybody elaborate please. Thanks Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Great write up in yesterday's NY Times Leisure section about the producer of "Cops" and can you believe it's on 20 years ?????? Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

P.S.--Does the helicopter have the Lojack monitoring device? LAPD does. Thanks

Can't complain since I got in for free, but this movie was quite lousy and overly vulgar like every other Adam Sandler film. Were those real rigs used? Did not appear to be the usual ones from pixxcars.com or movietimecars.com. I believe the firehouse used was someplace in Brooklyn, but some of the early scenes of rigs enroute to jobs may have been done in Los Angeles. Usually when training rigs are rented, the filmmakers stick on non existent firehouse numbers. But that wasn't the case this time...never saw a movie rig with a tiller either until now. FYI: The first fire of the turreted building was actually done on St. Nicholas Avenue uptown. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

Do any or all movie theater chains in Westchester still admit local police and firemen for free upon presentation of their shields?? Curious, as going way, way back, the former General Cinema chain which I worked for, did so. Dr. Zuki Lawrence Hospital

I believe they just wrapped last week. Don't know when they resume filming.
