My first car was my Grandfathers blue 1970 Olds Cutlass.......very fast, that car started my love affair for Oldsmobile...I have owned a 1972 Hurst Olds since 1988.....all original, 49,000 miles, 455......super sweet.......and yes the HURST is the same HURST name as in HURST tool.........

Are there any plans for a replacement to this rig...???? Also how do the guys over at truck company like that Sutphen tiller....that is one huge rig.....it looks very hard to see over the ladder, I had heard that there is a video monitor in the tiller cab to help with blind spots?? I had also heard that they wanted to replace that truck as well???? They had a beautiful old Seagrave, I'm surprised they ended up with the Sutphen...I think it's one of only 3 tillers that were made...any info?? thanks again.

Steamer is getting a brand new building? Am I correct that the old ladder 41 is actually the same building but at a higher elevation.......was this always the case or is there some odd history to why this building is like this? My first trip through Ossining I was amazed at the 3 companies all within a stones throw from each other, although my Dept. is like this as well (not sharing a same building) but houses close to each other...common with many older north east departments.

Some history on this Dept. Have they always run with Greenwich? How does the NY/CT funding work out....who does the dispatch, do they switch over to Greenwich once over the county line.....thanks again.

Just curious about the history of this Dept./company....were they an off spring of a surrounding Dept. that separated years back...they must have automatic mutual aide on structure fires....I don't know if I have ever heard them dispatched who do they run with....thanks again.

Problems with Utilities is common all over....they are simply undermanned when a storm hits and if there is no life threat, like a live wire on a car with occupants trapped or a working fire with wires making attack a problem they don't care...the largest number of outages is what comes first, a live wire down affecting 1 or 2 homes or even a block is not considered an emergency. The best we can do is have a police car sit on the call or activate a fire police squad unit to sit and wait till the utility arrives if your fd is that busy with other alarms.....on LI we have been trying to get the power companies to create true emergency response teams...there are enough firemen that work for the utilities around the counties to really make a good reponse team and an effective one...but again a simple secondary wire down or some primary wires down that are not a life hazzard or represent a large # of homes without power will not get a priority response.

I think it is one of only 3 built by Sutphen.

There is a great book on the NY City Fire Patrol....I think you can get it at FSP books......or on Amazon....and yes I have heard that they are looking to do away with them.....if I am not mistaken they were a paid service in NY City eevn before the FDNY went paid.....their members were involved with grabs from time to time and have many Line Of Duty Deaths.....also you may hear the #344 for Firefighters killed on 9-11 as there was 1 member of the Fire Patrol killed on that horrible day.....I'm sorry I cant recall his name at this moment...but I always say 344 when I hear 343........they wear red helmets at fire scenes and turnout gear and scba the same as FDNY....the Brothers refer to them as "cousins" really.......be safe all.......

Do the dispatchers wear westchester ems uniforms, or somers...or is there some somers designation on the uniforms. Also what type of shifts do they work, are these steady people assigned to dispatch or does everyone rotate through, maybe folks on light duty? Thanks.
