  1. There used to be a BFU at Engine 97. All it was was a surplus Army pickup truck with a small pump and tank(E161 had the same type rig as BFU5). Later it was called BFU8. currently there is no BFU8, as the rig was disposed of several years ago, and not replaced. BFU 4, 5 and the GIPU have nearly identical Fords, and 1,2,3,6 &7 have identical International/Saulsbury's Mike
  2. http://www.warwickfire.com/mediagallery/ph...cade/index.html check it out.
  3. They told me this when I shot thornwood's Mack last year. I have heard it quite a few times over the years from different departments that have CF's. Every time, it has not been true, and this is no exception. FDNY only ordered pumpers during that era(1968-1983) with the Thermodyne 260 HP motor(CF611 series). Thornwood's CF has a 285HP motor(CF686 series). FDNY pumpers from 1971 on had closed cabs, this one doesnt. The body and pump setup on Thornwood's is completely different to an FDNY pump and body. I usually attribute these stories to salesmen 30+ years ago, and also stories that have been passed down over the years. Mike
  4. that rig is ex-West Harrison. I have the original owners listed above. thanks. Mike
  5. Here they are. If anyone from Pleasantville can get me the Baker serial Number off their rig, I would appreciate it. it is missing from my list. thanks. 7. I'll shoot ya a PM. I dont want to list where they're going on a public forum. Mike
  8. MMU 4 is no longer at L20/D1. When R6 went in, MMU 4 came out. There is also RE523 and RL510 along with highway response 170 at that house. Incorrect. MMU 4 has not been around for a long time-Their duties are now done by the FFT's, and has been for at least the past 5 years. Reserve Ladder 705 is kept in the far bay. there is no RL510. Highway response unit 170 is also no longer in service, the rig was never relabeled, and is kept at L20. Mike books are not the gospel.
  9. Satellite 2 has been in service since the 10th or 11th. we shot it on the 13th, along with Sat. 4. its first run was to the 4th(I think it was a 4th), on Saturday the 12th. Mike
  10. There is one officer and 2 firemen assigned to Governors Island at all times.
  11. Hey all, 3 questions. 1. is Harrison E10 in service yet? 2. where is the White Plains ALF aerial stationed? 3. is anyone on the board a driver in Tarrytown on the new ALF tower? I would like to get up there on Tuesday if its nice out to shoot all three rigs I mentioned. thanks. Mike fdnytrucks.com
  12. Well, that explains it! Engine 2 was long disbanded before I started venturing up your way! thanks for the answer guys! Mike
  13. where was the pic of E318 taken? it doesn't look like any Yonkers FH I have been to. thanks, Mike
  14. Hey All, tomorrow(Wednesday) we're going to be up in the WC and we'd like to get some shots of Montrose's rigs. if anyone can hook us up there please email me at E290L103@aol.com or you can call me 201-394-8112. we should be able to get there around 1pm. just need a driver and a couple of minutes of their time. thanks! Mike we're also going to try Mount Vernon to get the Ex-West Harrison Tower and also the CF Pumper. anyone know what houses they are in today? thanks.
  15. Hey Joe, thanks for the info. I did not know they had an ex-FDNY engine. I was looking for the one I saw here on the boards. its a 2 door canopy cab CF, I think it was a ex-West Harrision rig as well. Mike
  16. very cool. thanks.
  17. Clarendon County had the TL before it was refurbished. Also, correction, there are only 2 tillers on the order. they're for L175 and L147.
  18. 85 Truck's old tower is assigned to the rock. L34, L147 and L175 are getting the new tillers.
  19. nothing's been signed yet... might happen, might not happen, but nothing's signed yet. I have lots of blueprints for rigs that were ultimately never built, but were engineered and seriously talked about. The E-1's are for sh*t, always out of service, so they need to do something. this might be it, if it happens.
  20. they were in the area. they were showed at the West Paterson Flea Market on Sunday. They are Crimson rigs, using a Spartan chassis(same company now...) was one a 75' quint and the other a pumper?
  21. I saw the proposed drawing of the FAST truck. on the plans, the exterior looks similar to Yonkers new MSU.
  22. Your friend in Passaic County is wrong. Besides for what the dentist himself told us when we shot the rig, there was a big article in the Bergen Record about what he is trying to do, and there also will be a writeup of the truck in First Responder. The rig has not been to any parades as of yet, he just got it a couple of months ago. He does his thing at the schools, and the rest of the time the rig is parked outside of his regular office in Paterson. Mike <<<<<<<<<<Well me being me i called a friend that is a fellow firefighter down in Passic County and i asked him about the truck i am engine and he told me that it only goes to parades and stuff.>>>>>>>>>>>
  23. it is a mobile dentist office. the guy is a huge buff, and wanted a truck to take around and do dental exams on kids in poor areas a couple of days a week. He had Valtek in Paterson build the module on the body. it is a fully functional "office", except most of the time it is empty, except for a chair and a cabinet of dental instruments. He does have all the equipment to do anything he can do in the office, root canals, etc... His goal now is to give a free dental exam to every kid in the Paterson public schools. they dont have much money, and a lot of the kids that he sees have serious health issues relating to the poor dental hygiene they practice. mike
  24.
