  1. Here is a pic it is not a great one but here you go.
  2. Here is a pic of Lake Carmel's T/S before they got it from FDNY This is it from Engine 70 out of City Island in the Bronx.
  3. I do beleave that the city of NY has passed it's own law about this subject with a bit of a higher standard with the local unions. So this is why it bypassed the city in the state bill. This is for the replacement end and that all members of FDNY have the system. You will see some dept's only buy for the amount of scba seat they have on a rig. Just my 2 cent's
  4. I think you guys had a telesqurt that was the old fdny eng 70 it was up on farmersmill road house back in the late 80's 90's. I may be wrong I will look for a pic of it I must have some place.
  5. Here in Bergen Co. NJ the county fire training center has rigs they use for training and if a dept. needs to use 1 as a spare for any amount of time while the dept. rig is out. That dept. will be trained on that rig and all of the dept. equipment will be placed on the spare also the dept. that is using the rig puts in on there ins. policy for that time frame. At present Bergen has 3 ladder's they can loan out 2 t/l and 1 rearmount ladder. As of now they have recieved some as donations and have spent money on getting them up to shape. As for a place to keep them most if not all are at the training center but most county's have many garages in all area's or some dept's have extra rtoom to store them. It would be nice to have this as a plan this maybe something that the county fire chiefs get set in place and get it rolling with the help of WCDES as a backer for the program.
  6. This is a good way to start a spare pool if the rig is in working order maybe the county should start get the rig from the departments and loan them out as needed. Most time when rigs are traded in it is a very small amount of money for that piece. If departments started to give older rigs that work to the county to use for training and then as needed for a spare to any department in the county. Just my 2 cents
  7. Here is a shot of my engine E-3 in Bogota NJ Bergen Co. This is a 1985 Mack/LTI 1250gpm with 500 gals of H2O. Soon to be replaced with in a year.
  8. Great story and a Great post. You will never see my face on a paper as we do not let reporters in the fire room.
  9. This is just the start of this with hospitals. I work for a very big hospital in NYC and we have been looking at doing this as well. Most of the rules set are done by the JCHO (Joint Commission) they do surveys on all hospitals that receive any state or federal monies. So they have a lot to say what a hospital will do for the most part. By next year all major hospitals will have this in place at least with smoking on hospital grounds or with in 25 feet of the grounds.
  10. I think they are placing an order for an Engine but not sure when. I will check with someone over there and let you know.
  11. This will make things harder for the other VFD's in the city that are doing the right thing. Like JBE said this will hurt the Broad Channel and West Hamilton Beach plus all the others. If anyone would like to see what there web page looks like here it is. http://www.aviation3.com/
  12. It is nice to get a spare when you need it. Here in Bergen Co. NJ the county has started to pick up a few rigs over the past few years. At this time they 3 ladder's and 5 or 6 engine's at the training center with other SOC stuff as well. The county has been loaning out the rigs to any dept. within Bergen Co. who has a piece out of service for any amount of time. Maybe more counties should start to do this program. If a dept. is replacing a piece they should donate it to the county and let them paint it and use it for training and if a dept. needs a spare it is there for them. This would help with not having to put a whole company out of service for any time and would cut down on M/A to fill the void. Here is a link from Mike's web page of some of the unit's that Bergen Co. has they have engine just not shown. http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/other...e%20Academy.htm Just my 2 cents Chris
  13. Yes they are they use county # Engine 47.
  14. New Jersey Police Ticket Ambulance MEREDITH MANDELL The Herald News (Passaic County, NJ) PASSAIC - The director of a Jewish ambulance service said that city police need sensitivity training and a better understanding of what the organization does after a clash with police who attempted to tow an ambulance this week. David Kaplan, 25, of Passaic, who founded the local branch of Hatzolah, an international ambulance corps staffed by volunteers in many orthodox Jewish neighborhoods, confronted police Sunday who had ticketed an ambulance parked the wrong way on Reid Avenue, around the corner from Hatzolah headquarters at 243 Van Houten Ave. A group of people congregated in front of the ambulance at about 11 a.m. as five police cars and a tow truck arrived at the scene, Kaplan said. The tow truck operator was unable to tow the ambulance because of its size, he said. "It's unheard of to tow an ambulance in any city," Kaplan said Tuesday. "It sort of leads us to believe there's selective enforcement going on." Calls to police Chief Daniel Paton and Deputy Chief Matthew La Paz were not returned Tuesday. Spokesman Detective Andrew White said they had left the office and that he would not supply a copy of the police report. "There was a traffic violation and a summons was issued. That's all I can comment on," White said. Mayor Samuel Rivera said he was on the scene Sunday and thought the ambulance volunteers acted "belligerently" and that perhaps police responded too harshly. "They were to going to be towed because they were parked in a dangerous position," Rivera said. Rivera said he met Monday with Kaplan and Paton to try to resolve friction between police and the volunteers. "I'm trying to work with them. My goal is for them to work with our (the city's) EMS," Rivera said, adding that part of the frustration with Hatzolah goes back more than two years. In 2004, the city tried to shut down the ambulance service because it did not comply with a city ordinance requiring certification by the police director. The state, however, does not require certification of volunteer emergency medical service squads. A proposal to amend the city ordinance requiring certification was passed Tuesday night. In addition, the city has offered Hatzolah to use city EMS headquarters to park Hatzolah's ambulances but Hatzolah has rejected the city's offer, Rivera said. "They say they like to have ambulances parked closer to the Jewish Community," Rivera said. Kaplan said that since his Hatzolah Emergency Medical Services of North Jersey began operating in 2003, he has had no problem with the police and that generally, the 30 volunteers have had a good relationship with city officials. But then last fall, he said, police began ticketing Hatzolah's three ambulances, with roughly 14 tickets received for improper parking in the fall. Ticketing stopped, Kaplan said, but started again recently, with seven or eight tickets issued in the past two weeks, he said. The matters have yet to be resolved in court, and Hatzolah hopes the city might waive the penalties if a solution can be reached. The incident is the latest in the city's parking saga involving the 3rd Ward, where many Orthodox Jews live. An outcry has erupted among residents over the enforcement of alternate-side parking regulations in Third Ward Memorial Park, where traffic cops didn't previously ticket or tow vehicles. Hundreds of residents submitted a petition against towing to the City Council during a meeting earlier this month. Kaplan said that volunteers keep the ambulances close to their homes to save the time it takes to get to a call, rotating stewardship of the ambulances among them. Kaplan said the city should take into consideration the services Hatzolah provides to the community. Since the Passaic Beth Israel/St. Mary's Hospital merger in Passaic, the demand for Hatzolah's service has grown, he said. With overcrowding at the hospital, many patients request transportation to other hospitals further away. Hatzolah supplements the city's taxed EMT services and can provide transportation to places where the city's EMTs do not transport people, he said. Kaplan believes that police officers and city officials have misconceptions about Hatzolah, which led to the clash. He wants to dispel the notion that Hatzolah provides services only to the Jewish community. "We don't discriminate whatsoever, we take anyone," he said. 22. Ok I know code 3 did a few fire houses but are any other companies doing them as well. I would love to find a 4 or 5 bay house to display with rigs in them. At present I have Ladder 79's house 82/31's house and Emergency E-51 house's. I'm sure some one has built a fire house for them self by some pic's or some insight on how to do it and what to use. Post them if you have them.
  23. Here in NJ in Hudson Co. 5 towns/citys merged to make the North Hudson Fire / Rescue Department. From what I have heard it was not so good when it first started but now it has worked out very well for them. Rumor has it that some other departments may be joining them as well. You will not see The Jersey City FD join in. But this was talked about for some areas in Bergen Co. as well but has not been set in place yet. In some parts of Begen Co. you a Tri-Boro dispatch for some special buildings and on working fires. This could be a way to make this a easy way for all to play together in the same sand box.........But it will take years for all to get on the same page.
