  1. do on a 10-60 do u still get 3 rescues one being rescue 3 with the collapse unit ? or do u just get the nearest 3 with their collapse units? do all 3 rescues dispatched bring their collapse rescues ? and res2s collapse rescue is kept at the 1/4's of 132 truck they roll as a rescue support unit correct?
  2. i though engines 9, 72 and 10 were 2,000 gpm engines and are all segraves are these considered high pressure engines? are the high pressure engine the ones with the satalites?
  3. We all don;t do it, all of you need to stop justifying your actions, the bottom line is that no one should be any where on a rig while its in motion unless they are seated in a seat and seatbelted... We all keep making excuses and FF's keep gettin killed in apparatus accidents while backing, riding and responding. lets cut the excuses and follow the rules and be safe. alot of you just can;t get it in your heads this topic is about preventing a accident or injury of a fellow FF.
  4. thats the problem here now all the members of that department whose rig is pictured are defending themselves or feeling as if they are being bashed... well mabe you should think twice about doing this before its done again. mabe FF402's picture will bring about change and mabe save some ones life because that attitude that members have that because it was done back in the day that it makes it ok is wrong. also most of us on here don't care about a stupid trophie, we rather not see a FF hurt or killed for a stupid piece or metal n plastic and no you cant say we have all done it. Because thats not a Fact and no we wont all do it if we parked our POV's away from the line up area. these are the stupid reasons that we as a fire service kill approx 100 FFs a year stupid things that we don;t learn from. Learn from the past and let it improve the future.
  5. great picture that was the sight i saw when driving my departments engine in the parade being that exact rig was infront of me going to line up and i was stayin back worried one of those idiots were going to fall off and i would have to stop or avoid them its just stupid haven't we lost enuff firefighters this way in the past and chiefs and officers need to step up and put a end to this and i am sure the chief or some officer from the dept pictured is on this site and i am sure u know you men so lets do something about it this laws are designed to protect people and lives follow them....
  6. interesting slogan, but i am sure that some one would have issues with it and ruin the pride and alittle enjoyment that the members get out of these slogans they are only to show pride and interest in their company and its rig....
  7. thats what i ment by training giving out a copy of that to the members and just reading through what its all about and tellin how the priverlage can be revoked by the chief or whom ever.... i know some depts just give out the light and the blue light card.... and "One blue light may be affixed to any motor vehicle owned by a volunteer member of a fire department" does that light bar count as only one light?
  8. LED light bars on personal vehicles? why whats the need? why stand out 24/7 i think there needs to be a crack down on this stuff... and what are your deptarments rules reguarding blue lights does every member get them as soon as they get in? any training done about blue lights? are they only for interior FF's? or does like the guy who just got voted in last nite now have one on his car?

  10. Congrats Seth and Kristen Best of Luck... Hey we all know 170 will be the limo and Chances are Seth may even drive it being that is probably his 2nd love, besides shrek has to be there,
  11. Your all getting ridiculous, as far as i am concerned you’re all acting like 5 year olds the man expressed an opinion.. while yes a lot of the younger members are really into this site that is great it is a learning tool and they have the rite to post... but pressure is correct your new your young and while you may read every book and website and manual and take FF1 or any other class you may want, that doesn't mean you know it all... you lack real world on scene experience and remember that yes things times and tactics change so we all must keep learning but the senior men have experience’s well beyond yours and there is much that can be learned from them and as with the younger members you may be taught in FF1 or the academy new ways of doing things the senior may not have been taught so live and learn from each other... lastly yes any member who wants to post on this board should stop hiding behind names with no profiles... its my opinion that you should have to all be verified members in order to have the rite to post this way there is more creditability to what you say.. And I am not hiding who i am, seth as well as many other members know me and my Credibility......
  12. Bad idea now you have mutiple cars responding, blowing lights its hard enough with rigs that have radios that during their responce will cross each others responce route at varrious intersections now you have blue lighted POVs blowing lights? we have seen rigs hit each other.. in my dept our units radio when they are approaching the intersections that they know the other responding apparatus will pass to prevent a accident, these law if changed will now have mutiple units responding from varrious dirrections..
  13. any pictures of the new system as a whole, have they made any changes to the hook that is used as the anchor when bailing out, i heard their were problems with the way the rope was looped through the hook and was attached back on the rope that was the main line?
  14. i have been using one for about 4 months, it is basicly the same as the old one as stated aside from the new lock on the main carabiner and the added d ring.. also the legs straps as stated are different and the main biner sits in the front of your gear rather then more to the side... i happen to like it but it did take alittle gettin used to after many years with the old gemtor i got mine form all hands fire, a great company that i like dealing with i got a good deal that made the new one almost the same price as the old one so i figured why not for a few extra bucks... also note i got mine at a show so they give better prices at the shows then on the websites... http://www.allhandsfire.com
  15. thanks for the info....wish you all luck with the new buildings and the new rig
  16. correct its hartsdales and its used to repair the alarm box wire's.. it is housed at station 2 on west hartsdale ave.
  17. it has the nothing to do with being police officers, no police officer is going to drive a fire engine at high speeds and be ok... Fire engines are big and very heavy they have a lot of water that often moves around and bottom line is they like to roll and most of all they take a lot of room to stop and the faster your going the more space it will be necessary to stop a rig.... also keep in mind most of us need better driver training how many departments actually let you go out and drive a rig and slam on the breaks to see how long it takes to stop.... how many of you know the breaking differences between ABS and Non ABS equipped apparatus? these are all important factors....
  18. 2 new engines built to almost exact FDNY specs if I am not mistaken... FDNY buys low bid... you get what you pay for.... same thing with the new tower ladder, no escape ladder saves money... crappy old school light bar and package saves money... everything down there is about money and the management wants to save money... they don;T care about the FF's of FDMV they Don;T pay them what they should nor do the provide the equipment or staffing necessary. Does this mean quit? NO, why because these guys do the job not for the money they do it for the love of the job and pride in working and protecting the city that they live in. (FDMV hires off a residents list only). that's the bottom line quitting lets the management win and that can;T happen. as for solutions I think all the bothers there and the union need to get the word out there to the people and I thing that the M/A departments Chiefs need to get together and put some pressure on the mayor and fire commissioner of the Vern. Don;t refuse to provide M/A but do something to help the FF;S Who work there... Think about it about 2 weeks back FDMV was using all hands at a supermarket fire and they had a 2nd working fire a block away that Pelham manor and New Ro FD's as well as Fairview and Greenville were dispatched to. think about those response times.. FFD and GFD were toned out to respond from their own quarters to the scene think about that response... the times for one, and the distance your now putting those FF's on the rigs responding at greater risk due to the distance necessary to respond, because we all know there is a risk every time you turn on those lights and sirens of a accident and the distance to travel increases it. lastly if its true FDMV only has 2 engines in service at a time or even 3 at a time think about when they send M/A a engine and truck to new ro or any where that could leave 1 engine in the city? is that rite? even if its 2 that's ridiculous!!!!
  19. Sounds to me your best course of action is get the citizens you protect behind you and force the mayor to make changes or back a new candidate for mayor and run them against the existing mayor and his staff... or get the fire commissioner to speak out or the Chief about the issues. But they are not willing to do so for fear of loosing their jobs but its going to take some one speaking out and attempting to make changes in order for anything to happen and sadly nothing may be done until some one get seriously injured or killed (God For bid) and these issues and NFPA standards are brought up in Court. But once again i don't work there so i don't wish to offer up much more then that but i would love to hear what any other creditable sources who may know more about the situation have to say.
  20. other then the obvious reslolution of more manpower and better equipment what is a solution? should these fire departments refuse to go m/a to FDMV? i don't know if thats safe for the brothers working there... granted i totally agree with your statement and know a bunch of guys on the job there and these are serious concerns but i just want to hear from some one who works there what they think needs to be done and how to go about it rather then have all the members begin making crazy suggestions and bashing the FDMV and its leadership... even though it may be warrented... feel free to reply or shoot me a PM if its something you may not want to voice due to any repercussions

  22. just wondering how many members does Tl-78 and E-77 have per company? and how many of these members are active,? how many are interior FF's? Thanks in advance for any info...
  23. LEts face it if they need to hire it means more paid jobs so hopefully some of those dedicated vollies can write the grades on the test and get hired, its only creating more jobs and thus more a opertunity for some vollies to get hired as career FF's
