It maybe the reality, but that's the whole point of this thread. We have more apparatus in Westchester than FDNY, but more than half never goes out the door and the rigs that do are almost always understaffed. Maybe instead of maintaining 100's of unnecessary equipment, we need to worry about staffing.
the point of the testing was to show that they did much worst. In fact the chances of survival for a victim was much better with a four man crew that arrived latter than two 2 man crews that arrived sooner.

I have read on a number of sites the backlash, almost all based on the board being unpatriotic or trying to be PC.
Beyond, what the board reported as being a safety issue, no one knows what the motivation is.
But, I have witnessed, flags getting larger and larger on the back of rigs, to the point that we are disrespectful of the flag.
On engines, I have witnessed hose being laid over a flag that's so large that without wind or driving it hung below the level of the bed.
On ladders, I have witnessed grease and tattered ends on the flag where it whips against the turntable gear. I have also seen where it rubs on ground ladders as they are moved in and out of the ladder tunnel.
On all rigs, I have seen filthy flags, because the dirt that swirls around the rear of the rigs.
On the safety side, I have seen them hiding flashing safety lights, turn signals and break lights. Saw one get burned by high intensity flood lights and have seen firefighters grabbing the flag to help them climb the rig.
This is not patriotic, nor is it how the flag should be respected! I am not saying they should be removed, but consider how we are displaying them.

As one of my partners said, "Any good EMS reality show needs to have an entire episode showing EMS crews in the day room watching and TV criticizing other EMS reality shows."

Thank you very much "Bnechis" for that information. I certainly appreciate that.
Thank you also to the IAFF for their donations to each of these firefighters. I am very happy to see that the Brotherhood is still alive and well.
As many here do, I also hope for a positive resolution to end this nightmare that these guys have been put through, as well as bring those firefighters back for the safety of all involved.

When those soldiers who are standing fast are called to service they will be capable of shooting the enemy because they're all fully trained and qualified. When these so called "fully trained exterior firefighters are called to push into a dwelling fire, he or she cannot.

Trespassing? Unauthorized use of the emergency equipment / vehicles. Just guessing of course.

Sadly there is nothing in the NYS general municipal law that requires Emergency Medical Services. to persons in NYS for EMS to come out from behind the shroud of being the bastard 3rd service this is one of the first items that needs to be changed.

The simple truth is, if someone, anyone, had taken command, it is likely everyone else would have followed. I did not hear this incident, but from what I am reading, it sounds like no one was in charge.
Some solutions, such as a Marine Battalion, while sounding good, only add another layer to bureaucracy to it. A complicated incident does not need additional layers.
Just my opinion, but a good rule of thumb for establishing command would be the boss of the first agency that gets the original call is in charge, and remains in charge unless and until a reason comes up that justifies a change.
If the location or jurisdiction, is in question, the command stays with the original responding agency until the jurisdiction is positively determined. It makes no sense to change unless there is a valid reason.
This would eliminate the some of the guesswork and would, at the minimum, have everyone answering to the same authority, even if it changed later on, at least the ballgame starts with everyone on the same page.
These are just my thoughts, I have seen similar things before, and they will likely occur again.

Your reputation is what is salty not your gear. that being said, ( I know ur lid is ur badge of honor) how many guys wash their earflaps? IF they are down during a job, they will get dirty agree? How do you wear your flaps most of the time, tucked up inside your lid. So now that dirt is directly transferred to your head. Wash your earflaps !!!

With the size of the building this would be housing more then just am-surg and administrative offices. I would bet they would be moving dr offices from 19 bradhurst to this new building

Really? You need a bill now for the obvious I can recall at least four specific incidents over the years where we rescued and/or treated dogs at the scene. At the time there wasn't any hesitation to do so or concern that it wasn't 'legal' to do so.

Dinosaur liked a post in a topic by vtach39680 in When is someone a patient?
It would be very hard to write that policy. To many variables.
Just some thoughts
If you walk into a hospital are you automatically a patient?
If the FD responds to an alarm is there automatically a fire?
If the police respond to an accident is there automatically a summons?
All documentation should clear and accurate but as with my first reply to this thread. Not every call we respond on yields a "Patient" rather just an individual or individuals

I have to ask, why this discussion about a term? is it for dispatch, or what? a pin job is a pin job, some are harder, some take more time, some pop a door go home. I cant see having this discussion except after about 10 beers lol
