Thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fellow Troopers. RIP. It's sad that these Troopers face this danger every time they perform such a routine event like a traffic stop. From: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/state-trooper-dies-crash-ny-thruway-21248997

From a very reliable source, Somers FD has begun the initial steps for switching to 60 control for dispatching as approved by the Board of Fire Commissioners to seek an alternative means.

Although the billing company should have caught this, because this obviously can apply to a large number of people, I don't see how it's racial. The person was unknown, and Asian. I fail to see what the big deal is. It's amazing how the news media sensationalized this. Including the wording "demanding payment". Uh, it's a bill. Like everyone else gets. If this person didn't get themselves intoxicated enough to need an ambulance, this wouldn't be an issue. Maybe the school should also put some of the blame on themselves. There was no one around that even knew this girls name? Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/fdny-hot-water-new-school-bill-addressed-unknown-asian-article-1.1545027#ixzz2naTmdy7h

This is the problem with 5 year terms. If the public doesn't like what this guy has done after a year, then there's still 4 years left on his term.

So, McCabe is providing the ambulance service, will JCMC still provide the ALS? And will this result in JCMC's ambulance service shutting down? Once again, the dollar sign wins out again over quality EMS....JCMC EMS is an proven, excellent agency, very well equipped with experienced medics that already has the infrastructure in place to serve the city. McCabe may be to do the job, but not to the level that JCMC has the advantage to provide.

What front line apparatus in Westchester is 15 years of age or older. And of these apparatus, are any replacements on order or pending? Here's the two I know offhand. I know that there's been talk of them being replaced, but I don't know if they actually are in the process. Ardsley Engine 164, 1992 Spartan Gladiator/Beck Elmsford FD Quint 2/TL 21, 1993 Pierce Arrow 100' RM TL Feel free to add in!

Taken this week at the KME factory. This is actually the second cab, the first has already been shipped out to crash testing. This will be the cab for initial FDNY acceptance. Special thanks to my anonymous source for the scoop!

If Elmsford has a mid-mount tower ladder out to bid, where are they going to fit it? Elmsford House is pretty tight as it is, and I don't see them wanting to store it at Live Oak? But then, with the bucket overhang on a rear mount TL, is the length of a mid mount about the same as a rear mount?

He is a former Hartsdale Deputy Chief and fire service instructor, and is very respected for his knowledge in the Westchester fire community. We are glad and appreciative that he brings it here to EMTBravo for all of us to learn from. wraftery is just one our many, many excellent and dedicated members who are deserving of this recognition, and we will continue to recognize these members every month.

The all-new 2014 Dodge Ram ProMaster vans are beginning to arrive at dealerships. I kinda like it, the front end is sort of a modern update to the old Ram van. Full info: http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/ram_promaster/

An incident that, tragically, that brought focus to firefighter accountability, FAST, and complacency with tradition. RIP.

Some excellent photos from the 8th alarm in Boston today: http://www.bostonglobe.com/2013/12/03/south-boston-building-fire-leads-eight-alarm-response-boston-firefighters-injuries-reported/8knsOm3urlLEmr1SZE6PyH/picture.html Went to an 8th alarm but was put under control within an hour. Photos linked to above really portray the story, and as always, Boston's strong truck work.
