Proliner, a emergency vehicle upfitter, builder, and dealer, has announced they are now the new KME dealer for the "Greater New York" area. Does this include New York City, or Westchester? And most importantly, are they going to be responsible for pre-delivery and warranty work on the 90 KME Engines that FDNY has on order? http://www.prolinerrescue.com/

I'm sorry I'm a little late to this discussion, and apologize if I duplicate what someone else said. There's a lot of great posts here to read. EVERY Police Officer, Firefighter, and EMT should be trained and equipped with Nasal Narcan. Police Officers are often the fastest on scene in some communities, and I've seen it save lives. In fact, seems like every unconscious not breathing call that I get dispatched on and FD beats us there, the patient is awake and breathing when we arrive.

Now that I think about it and I'm not posting when I'm falling asleep, I think that I remember the Fairview's had this position for a while, and now they are making it official. The salary is in line with what that title is already making. This email blast was out of line. Fairview already has a tough enough time getting funding. Over 50% of their district is tax exempt. They are the busiest district in the Town of Greenburgh, and has the most low income residents in the three districts. And every time they have a referendum, like to renovate and expand their completely cramped, obsolete, and dangerous firehouses, it gets voted down. Now this is going to stick in the voters minds, and further hurt Fairview when they ask for funding in the future.

Basically, this article is about an issue that's been trending even before this incident and has been mentioned in several topics on this forum recently. EMS waiting for the scene to be secured and patient outcomes. http://news.yahoo.com/tsa-officer-bled-33-minutes-lax-shooting-082237704.html

In a few recent threads, members have questioned "why hasn't this been posted yet?". In most cases, the member had knowledge of the incident and didn't post it. Why the complaint If you're going to ask what took so long on something to get posted, and you knew about it, then why didn't YOU post it? Seth

Reminder that this event is TOMMOROW!

It seems like anytime anything needs work at WCDES facilities, a band aid solution has been put in place, that's often quickly outgrown. The smokehouse and tower have been rehabbed and repaired extensively multiple over the past few years, and usually to fix the exact same things over and over. When I took Essentials in 1997, the tower and smoke house were condemned due to extensive deterioration. Wouldn't it be more cost effective in the long term just to knock both down, and build modern training structures? Have they built the taxpayer (strip mall) simulator that has been sitting in the budget requests for years yet? I'm sorry, funding is good, but not using the funds wisely is wasteful and just takes away from true future improvements and enhancements.

Welcome to the forum. Usually between $20-$30 an hour. I don't believe the per-diem rates flex much, but that they may offer a better rate for experience or extra skills, like Critical Care Transport Paramedic or what MAC's you have.

Beverly Hills FD is a GREAT job. However, you have to be at the absolute top of your game. It says EMT required, but being a Paramedic gives you a better advantage. A majority of the requirements strongly benefit firefighters from the area who have been preparing for the test for years. Another factor to consider with the salary is the enormous cost of living in Southern California. If you apply, expect to work really, really hard for it.

My statement wasn't a defensive one. It was a curious one. You complained in a thread and in the shoutbox that it wasn't posted. And, again, I'm just asking. I just want to know, if you expected it to be posted and didn't see it, why didn't you post it yourself? I just wanted to point out that's how things are done on here, every member has to pitch in for us to have content.. That's in essence what the forum is all about.

Recently read that it's going to cost $24 each for admission to the 9/11 museum- the highest museum admission fee in NY. While I acknowledge it costs money to run a museum. there aren't corporate or other grants out there to make it free or at least a lower cost? Part of the reason it's so high is that there is no government funding....should there be, like the Smithsonian? On the contrary, proceeds from the admission go to maintaining the memorial and make that free. But $24 is still steep regardless. What do you think? http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/mandatory-24-admission-fee-set-sept-11-museum-article-1.1589891

I heard something today about that local ALS REMSCO's (excluding NYC) are consolidating ALS protocols? Can anyone elaborate?

Photo from official product press release and webpage: http://www.e-one.com/products/aerials/metro-100 New materials and engineering technologies are making 100' single axle aerials possible again. Time will tell, but then again there are a lot of single axle engines and quints out there nowadays that outweigh the E-One Metro. Has anyone had a chance to see this truck up close at any of the trade shows over the summer? What advantages could this give some departments around here?
-
For those departments affected, there are plenty of well equipped demos out there, especially with FDIC and trade show season approaching, It may not be the "custom truck", but often can be modified easily to fit a departments needs. So as long as they have their money back, and they have their minds open, they could be in a former demo in only a couple of months.
