  1. Does seems odd, but PFD has a very long replacement cycle with their engines, lol. PFD Website says 1984, and the other Pierce as '94. Can someone from Pleasantville confirm?
  2. Thoughts and prayers. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/new_york&id=9493863
  3. Introduced today at FDIC...... http://www.piercemfg.com/en/trucks/p-s.aspx
  4. (Photo from public release) Full press release and details: http://oshkoshdefense.com/news/u-s-marine-corps-advanced-new-firefighting-vehicle-oshkosh-defense-featured-marine-south/
  5. Don't get me wrong, I love Pierce, it seems Pierce is trying to be everything to everybody with their chasis. How the heck are you supposed to choose a chasis with all their choices? And most are just cosmetic differences. That's one of the reasons I love Seagrave ......basically one cab with different sizes fits all. Kinda the same with Spartan (a lot of chasis based off one), and KME. But it's smart for them to aim towards the "value" end of the market....their Saber/Contender line has been one of their strongest. I think you will see a LOT of these in Texas.
  6. Thanks everyone for the info. I just don't understand why their are several of these "water supply" units around, and never have seemingly to dump their hosebed. Still seems like it would be a better way to supply water long term, and keep more tankers in service. Maybe I do understand, as stated above, repacking!
  7. Very sad update on one of the officers, and angering cause of the fire: http://nypost.com/2014/04/08/cop-declared-brain-dead-after-being-trapped-in-fire-set-by-bored-teen/

  9. The only reason they are doing this is because they got a grant. Let's see how they screw this one up. Maybe MVFD will benefit and actually get working heat! FULL ARTICLE: http://www.mvinquirer.com/emergency-operations-center.html
  10. Looks awesome! I hope this becomes a reality and the Bronco is revived, but part of me has a feeling this was an April Fool's joke, and a cruel one to Ford fans especially.
  11. Fireman's Memorial in Albany. 'Nuff said....
  12. Never seen something like this before. Used to call volunteer backup for a paid department in an urban downtown area.
  13. Are we talking about this "selfie" in inappropriate situations craze as well? Boston should have had a separate area for themselves, and out of towners. Ship the out of towners to Gillete Stadium and let them tailgate or go home. The people who live and work in that city each and every day should have had their city back. So they could go about their normal activities, go to their normal bars, visits with their friends. Showing support during a funeral is one thing, invading a mourning community is another. Boston is a town that likes to have fun...but also is serious when they need to be serious. There is no black and white there. The funeral is the end of the public respects, and now it turns towards personal mooring and figuring out how to go on. Another thing that drives me nuts is group shots with everyone smiling with the burnt out house and crying victims in the background. Put down the camera, don't even touch that FB app to brag about being there, and GO HELP THE PEOPLE WHO'S LIVES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED! Salvage has been replaced with a cell phone. Tarp anyone? Give me a hand with those family photos. One minute Chief, just gotta check my Facebook.
  14. Judging by the reaction of people to this, maybe this would be something Ford would consider, I hope. I would prostitute myself for that Bronco Excuse me, I'm am going to cry now. I have no dream truck to steal.
  15. Westchester County PD has this new truck being assembled at Proliner Rescue in Long Island. Anyone know what it will be used for? (Photo from: Proliner Facebook Page)
  16. It's not finished yet in the spy shots above. There will be a retractable "pool type" ladder to access the roof,
  17. From a January News 12 quote from Mayor Ernie Davis WHAT MIDDLE CLASS?!?! Good luck with all the "technology" in the new "state of the art" EOC, but let's see how you get your broken down trucks and lack of proper gear and equipment there with a fancy computer before your 2nd floor EOC is located in the basement. At least the guys will eventually get underground parking, which will be nice on snowy days not having to clear your car after shift. I'd also like to add in the I fully support the guys in MVFD but I hate the conditions they are forced to work in. The funny part is, they are some of the best and most experienced in Westchester (most of them).
  18. You'd think the city would find another place for a firehouse. I'm sure they could get federal grant money since I'm betting it can be classified as a superfund site....I can only imagine what's underneath that building. I can't find the words......I can't believe they are putting the EOC there. But in 10 minutes, they'll forget about it, it will fall apart, and the Mayor will have no clue what to do in an emergency except to make sure his secret stash is safe.
  19. Just some light refurbishment and maintenance work, such as repairing some blemishes in the paint caused by years of wear and tear, installing a new generator and replacing the DOT lights with LED, amongst other things like thorough preventative maintenance. E-271 is the workhorse of YHFD. You'd never know it's 18 years old!
  20. Boston FD is also posting updates to their Twitter account, including some very intense photos https://twitter.com/BostonFire?original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.boston.com%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Fmassachusetts%2F2014%2F03%2F26%2Ffirefighters-battling-alarm-fire-back-bay%2FHxw6tT2c9OJWNd0HRV6UrI%2Fstory.html&tw_i=448900587334021120&tw_p=tweetembed (Public Photo)
  21. Full article: http://blog.ctnews.com/offbeat/2014/04/03/danbury-to-open-dispatch-proposals-today/ Besides Somers being dispatched by WEMS, I've never heard of a dispatch center outsourcing. I wonder who the four companies are?
  22. I don't smoke, and never have. Are eCigarettes the same as regular cigarettes, law-wise? Meaning, can you use them in areas where smoking is prohibited?
