The past few years has seen an increase in Magnesium Chloride in treating snow and ice covered roads over or mixed with the traditional salt. I've heard that Mag Chloride is much more brutal then salt, and goes viscously not only after just metal, but after rubber and plastic parts, such as brake lines and electrical connection covers, and other undercarriage parts that salt was more gentle with. And the MC holds on longer then salt after a bath due to an adhesive that's generally mixed in with it. Any truth to this? If so, then Mag Chloride is going to increase apparatus maintenance costs and decrease lifespans? Should the government be looking into what this chemical is doing to vehicles as well as road infastructure long term and maybe looking at another alternative? And what's the best wash solution to really get rid of the mag chloride, since water just reactivates the adhesive qualities?
