I could see this being a thing that would work well in SOME situations/agencies, like utilities. It's really no different then having a fire extinguisher on board. Very well written article for a civilian and a very good perspective by the agency(s) involved. Quick note from behind the camera. A reason why I don't have a lot of "action" shots is because the firefighters of Hartsdale FD stopped this fire dead in it's tracks...literally. I was told, and you can see, the fire was blowing out when they got there, and there was a visible clear line where the fire was stopped. They saved this home from much more extensive damage by their excellent teamwork and coordination of resources. I got there a couple minutes after knockdown, so not much action to shoot.. With that said, thoughts and prayers are with the family who called this home home. All photos by me, Seth. Click here to read the Incident Alert

FROM BILLY G. AT THE SECRET LIST:

I agree. I've seen cases where EMT's have been fired for treating but mostly transporting injured animals. I think a law is needed to give a crew permission, when necessary and available, to transport the animal to definitive care if no other resource/method is available.

Well, Belltown must be getting an extensive refurbishment, including a new body on their Mack CF chasis, as these carcasses lay in the back of ITE as of this past Friday. But they were also there when I visited a few months back. ITE looks like they are wrapping up operations as quickly as possible. I have heard that Belltown's tower is almost done, can anyone confirm that?

For anyone who is interested, this is their fire district map. As you can see, their coverage area is quite large: http://www.jeffersoncountywv.org/home/showdocument?id=43

Jefferson County designates a number for each department. For Shepherdstown, it is "3". So, Car 3 is the Chief, Engine 3 is the Engine. Now, let's say there are two Engines. One would be designated Engine 3, and the other Engine 3-1.

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and hope this will usher in a wonderful holiday season for you all. Enjoy your Turkey, and have a great holiday! Regards, Seth Granville AKA x635/EMTBravo *Please support small businesses in your community when shopping during this holiday season* Thanksgiving is America's national chow-down feast, the one occasion each year when gluttony becomes a patriotic duty. ~Michael Dresser Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. ~ Cynthia Ozick

Yes. It's a standard feature on the nozzle and joystick, I just don't know if the FDNY truck is equipped with it. Not sure what applications Dry chem would be used for in this particular application.
