According to fx, It's going to be a 1 hour drama, not a comedy. I heard they filmed the pilot in Yonkers, but were filming at a soundstage in Astoria, Queens and locations shoots throughout the NYC boros. If it's true they are filming in Yonkers, I'd rather see them reflect the urban neighborhoods. After all, thats where more of the action takes place in real life and provides a much grittier background.

What a tragedy  There are some evil trees out there.

How about refurbing it into a Tanker, like Noroton Heights FD did? They took their Mack CF snorkel, removed the snorkel, completly refurbed and overhauled the chasis, and made it into a Tanker. http://www.ci.darien.ct.us/nhfd/snorkel_conversion.htm They also took their oldd Mack CF tanker and made it into a Quint. I'm sure time wont allow that, though for Croton.

At least say thanks to your dispatcher, or more importantly, bring em' food or other treats! I'd ask what the Westchester area is doing to note this week, but that would mean the communications field around here would be progressive, lol. Anyways, Happy NPSTW to all the Dispatchers who constantly toil "behind the scenes" in the WC!

Peekskill (Career) FF/NREMT-P Tom Macpherson has been appointed as the first EMS Coordinator of the Peekskill Fire Dept. Tom is an active member of the Westchester EMS community, and also is an accreddited Fire and EMS instructor, as well as a writer about issues pertaining to the Fire and EMS community. Congrats to Tommy, he's a friend of mine and I know he'll do a great job to improve EMS/ALS delivery in PFD and community.

Thats definetly some good points.......however when faced by some lesser dedicated people, I sure wouldn't want to be the chief or training officer assigned to coordinate this activitie, lol! I do agree with you though, I'd rather have take the time in a controlled situation (and maybe be a little uncomfortable) to see what works and what doesnt. This may also work so see what we need to do to make ourselves more comforatble/warm in our gear without comprimising our safety or movement. I think the primary cold-weather planning for most people is hope....hoping it doesnt happen.

While reading through an EMS magazine today, I learned Smith and Wesson, the well known gun, police bike, and handcuff manufacturer, will be producing a line of AED's under the Smith and Wesson Heartbeat AED name. Leaves you to wonder what will bystanders think when somebody arrives at a cardiac arrest patients side and a case that says "Smith and Wesson"....

My personal feelings on this: I'm very glad everbody was alright, physically at least, and wearing their seatbelts. I know many members from CFD E119/T10, and I know the pride they take in their company and its apparatus. It was just a sad fate that could have been bestowed on any of us. If any light can be made of this unfortunate accident, maybe we will see a pair of brand new Seagraves in Washington Engine. Just a side note, I personally don't like seeing the pictures posted. But, the photos are out there in other ways already, and if anything, hopefully will remind people to always wear their seatbelt whenever they are in the apparatus. This also adds fuel to my arguments against commercial chasis. I don't feel they handle as well as a custom chasis would carrying a large amount of water responding Code 3. It seems many of the tanker accident photos I see are commercial chasis vehicles. I know they represent the majority, but still those chasis are not really designed with the firefighter, or his/her emergency response manuvers in mind.

Anybody notice how on NotNews12 this AM, they stated "Engine Companies Worked Hard To Ventilate The Roof".....I though that was strange, lol.

You're not getting it back this time, either.

And it says "Paramedic".....I know one (two including me) member here who will like, lol.

Does anbody know anything about North Salem VAC getting a new building, and where it might be? I saw a poster for a dedication ceremony today, but until then I thought the plans for the new building were still just plans.
