I think sometime in the near future it can and will happen. C-PAP is a growing trend and I think it will be a standard at some point, at which time WREMSCO will pick it up.

There is portable CPAP, but it sucks down 02. As far as costs, just note what is spent for the startup (which is nothing compared to some of the BS that ALS services spend their money on) is really nothing, considering that CPAP, and this is proven by multiple studies, reduces hospital in-stay time significantly, which therefore reduces hospital expenses and costs to insurance companies, and also frees up beds. I think it is something like 5,500 for regular CHF admission, and $1,100 for a CPAP admission where the patient recieved CPAP and Nitrates.

Link was fine, CNN seems to have taken the story offline. Here's the orignal article, but from MSNBC.com: http://livevideo.msnbc.com/id/4499831

I found this interesting. Can they actually do this? If they legally can, than what about the ethical side?

I thought they were raiding Gall's because they were unhappy at the OUTRAGEOUS prices Galls charges. I wonder how they do any business at all, since there is a plethora of other places to purchase the same items from, and most often at a considerbly lower price. It seems like when they first started, they were charging a lower price to knock the "little guys" out of the business, and then when they got big, they raised their prices. There's a ton of great places to buy Public Safety/Emergency Service stuff on the internet. I was looking for Magnum Stealth boots the other day, which I have bought from Galls in the past. I did an internet search, and found BootBay.com. They were $10 cheaper, PLUS free shipping. Other Galls alternatives is your local uniform shops (although some around here are kinda skelly).

$14,000 for a door and a door window? Was that all that was damaged? I would think they would have to custom make the door because Simon-Duplex is now defunct.

FX to Depict Lives of a Group of New York City Firefighters in New TV Series Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) -- FX has placed a series order for comedian Denis Leary's ``Rescue Me,'' signing up for 13 episodes of the one-hour drama, the network announced. ``Rescue Me'' is about the lives of a group of New York City firefighters. Leary stars as a firefighter who's coping with the fear of his job in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. The announcement was made last week by Nick Grad, vice president of series development for FX. Production of ``Rescue Me'' is scheduled to begin in April and will be shot in New York. ``It's about time there is a show that looks at the lives and great work of New York City firefighters and what goes on beneath the surface of the job you see,'' Leary said in a statement. ``I am excited to portray a firefighter. I have many close friends and family members that are firefighters and many of the stories and characters will be drawn from them.'' Leary, 46, is a native of Worcester, Mass., and a cousin of one the six Worcester firefighters who died in a 1999 warehouse blaze. The actor founded The Leary Firefighters Foundation in response to the blaze.

I was kind of dissapointed with the premeire episode.Maybe I was just dead tired, but I thought It was OK, but nothing great, at least not yet. But it hasn't been the first time I watched something and didnt like it..sometimes things grow on me. On another note, did anyone pick up on the inside scenes at the Firehouse? As mentioned previously, it was Yonkers FD HQ's/Station 1. I noticed, several times, the signs on the wall "R1" and "L71", as well as photos of the Yonkers FD and other Yonkers FD stuff laying around the firehouse.

I must add: I think Baltimore is more than just the convention for a lot of people. It's sometimes the only time in a year where you get to take a road trip with your freinds, learn some new things, be a buff at the expo, enjoy the nightlife (and the plenty of women) that the Inner Harbor has to offer, the other activites that go on, maybe catch a ballgame at Camden Yards, and generally just kick back and have a good time and meet new people/other buffs from around the country. I know the last time I went, the best part was the time spent with the friends I went down there with. The second best part was the Firetrucks.....Third, the Inner Harbor Nightlife (and swim afterwards for a certain member of this board for those who were there to witness it...LMAO). I hope to get down there next year.

I am SO miserable for missing it this year. It sounds like one of the best in years.

Uh, no lol!!! and BTW, it's spelled "Wheeled Roach". I only like a few Wheeled Coach ambulances. I like LA City FD's, and Mohegan EMS's. But thats pretty much it. Wheeled Coach, IMO, is built very cheaply. Ever seen a photo of one involved in an MVA? I, like 801, prefer an ambulance that's "built like a tank" I personally work/have worked in the following brands of ambulance and think highly of all the following brands: Lifeline,AEV, PL Custom, Braun, Excellance, Road Rescue, Horton

That's a pretty interesting idea. Also to note, physical fitness, staying in shape , and not smoking also helps to make the bottle last longer.

I'm not sure as to the answers to your question. I'm sure someone on here knows. In the meantime, There's 2 very nice photos of the new Field Com at FDNYTrucks.com: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/speci...lunits/fcom.htm Did anyone see the new one at Baltimore??? Or get photos?

Pat was a Battalion Cheif in Baltimore County, Maryland. Sounds like you guys had a great time, HFD211, and you got to see a really good system in action. Thanks for the report!

I personally don't think the Webb Field location is a good one at all...Webb field is just that...a field, and is very barren....although the Central Ave. location is visible to the masses, there are plenty of more appropriate and IMO, much nicer places in the town for an item like that. But I wonder, how come these issues did not come up when the wall was being built or before???

I've been watching this show, "NYPD 24/7" which has been and will be airing on ABC Channel 7 Tuesday Nights at 10pm. ABC News spent 16 months riding with different units of the NYPD and made it into this awesome documentary type series. This past Tuesday, they rode with the sex-crimes unit and the ESU Supervisor.........caught some awesome footage of extrications, the NYPD-FDNY tensions, and jumper up rescues. The show cuts thru all the BS and drama and gets right to the point. Definetly worth the watch IMO. I hope ABC releases this on DVD, or re-airs it on cable or something. Here's an episode guide: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/ABCNEWSS...ain_040601.html

Congrats To Y-Town!!! I hear this new ladder will have a pump, though. I hope they will keep the current L-51 (1968 Seagrave Midmount) as a department antique, or given to someone to maintain like a museum.....IMO,It's a true classic and does not deserve to be sent to the scap heap, or to a department that will use it temporarily and dispose of it.

Ken Jennings Is A Robot. You know, that humandoid on "Jeporady". Just thought I'd share the above tidbit for those of you that do not know.

I personally like the following brands due to the sturdy construction and craftsmanship of the modules. These are IMO the best out there right now: Horton, Lifeline, Braun, PL Custom, Road Rescue, Excellance All brands mentioned above, the modules are extremly sturdy. As for vans, I feel AEV makes a great product as far as the van, the "Traumahawk", goes. I'm not sure about their modules yet, never worked in one. *Edited for clarification I'd stay FAR FAR away from the following: Wheeled Coach, McCoy Miller- very cheaply constructed. Don't forget, an ambulance is a lot in how you specify it. Also, be sure that the chasis can handle the weight and the suspension will give you a comfortable ride. Play around with the manufacturers demos a little, and don't forget to have them drive while you are both simulalating working in the back as well as laying in the stretcher. Make sure you like where everything is layed out as well.
