  1. Anybody know where Quad 8 went???? It's a shame they let it go...what a classic and beautiful rig
  2. You owe me King Kone next time I work up there!!!
  3. It was in yesterdays (Sunday 10/3's) New York Times, Westchester Section, Page 3, Business Column. For some reason, it's not in their online edition. I'll try to get a copy to show you. It's a very interesting article.
  4. Just curious as to if anyone packages this equipment centrally and standard (such as on a sled/stokes or cart) for rapid deployment, and to ensure that the equipment is there??? So, like when you get to a scene, just pull a box/sled/whatever, and go to the staging area and your all set to go.
  5. Great find!!! I have the same issue with knots. Think I may make a little pocket guide based on this site.
  6. I'm assuming that the increase in ALS trucks represents an increase in the Paramedic staff. I know for a while that they were having trouble getting Medics, but with the FDNY EMS Academy (large) Paramedic class that just graduated, and another one in progress, the staffing issues probaly have been resolved. Hopefully, the next FDNY update will bring us news that FDNY*EMS EMT's/Medic's will be getting a pay raise, and better shifts.
  7. So, I missed the season premeire of Third Watch.....what happend to Bosco???
  8. I hear the new Career FF academy starts on Tuesday, did anyone hear who hired how many? This is the dirt I have compiled so far.... Fairview- 2 FF's Town Of Mamaroneck- 1 FF Who else? Good luck to all the new paid guys!
  9. As far as I've heard and seen at trade shows and just being around the WC, quality (no low bid crud) Rescue Pumpers usually run in the $400-$500 grand range. Regular engines usually cost around $300-$400. That's if equipment is not included. Also, for the most part, some commisioners are what's holding the fire service from going foward. If you bought the cheapest E-One out there, they probaly would still think it was "too much". How could buying a Seagrave, two of them, a high quality apparatus that's going to last you and protect the town for the next twenty years, be "spending too much".
  10. Nice pics......they have some pretty cool and diverse apparatus up there. Can't wait to see the California ones coming soon!
  11. How could I miss that fact???? Some FD Chiefs have to pick up a couple as well!! It WOULD make such a hot chiefs car! Also would make a great Paramedic flycar!!!
  12. I think they are exepcting delivery of an American Lafrance Engine, and that if they were happy with the one delivered, they had the option on the contract for another. As far as I'm aware, Valhalla hasn't gotten the 1st new ALF yet? Maybe one of the Vahalla guys on the board could update us.
  13. Nice! Thanks for the info! Should be interesting in yellow and all.
  14. How could you NOT be aware?
  15. Thanks for the info, now you have me even more curious, lol! Do you know if they went with the Inferno chasis, or the new heavy duty "Ultra" chasis? And I wonder if the Seagrave is going to be a RM tower, or an Aerialscope? Also wonder the chasis.
  16. http://www.lafirefighter.com Contains a ton of awesome action photos from the Los Angeles Metro area. GREAT photos!
  17. To elaborate, there are a fair amout of "grey market" cameras on ebay. These usually lack any warranty. You can find those in Brooklyn, lol. I was more referring to someone who may be upgrading their camera and selling their old one on Ebay. I'd never, ever take a risk buying a grey market camera. It's not worth it,IMO. Sure you may get lucky every now and then, but again not worth it.
  18. How'd he sustain those injuries???
  19. Or when you are by yourself responding.....
  20. I personally feel that Navigation systems/GPS Guidance should be standard in every emergency vehicle nowadays. It's a great auxillary tool.
  21. Why can't anybody in the WC get a tiller? They're great! Check out the photos of Ridgefield Park, NJ's new (as well as there old) Seagrave Tillers...both very sweet rigs! http://www.geocities.com/johno535/Truck.html
