They should let people in to use that very cool video tiller simulator during the off times and charge. They'd make a lot of money off me lol! It would also be cool if they made a home version.

This was on the "Today Show" on NBC this morning. To those who watched the UL Lab demonstration, and put aside the sensationalism in the video, I don't think they were exaggerating the old school room? What do you think? Sensationalism may be warranted when it comes to fire prevention activities when presented to civilians like this. Thoughts? VIDEO: http://on.today.com/1Ok28eS

I just saw on the WNBC 4 News a story about the newest illness linked to 9/11. Neuropathy, and it's not covered by the Zadroga Act. A large group of 9/11 responders, many middle aged males, are getting weakness, numbness, and pain from nerve damage, all symptoms of neuropathy. A study by Winthrop Medical Center shows that 9/11 responders are at a 15x higher risk of severe neuropathy then the general population. It's tied to some of the toxins in the air at Ground Zero. A CDC Spokesperson is saying that the illness is now being considered for inclusion in the Zadroga Act, but it's far from a given. I can't find the link to anything online just yet to link to a Channel 4, some things in the past couple years about the beginning of the study but not much more.

Excellent article on what's been a hot topic on this forum recently. It's written by Lawrence Shultz, Retired Assistant Fire Chief Of Operations from the Washington DC Fire Department. It should be a must read for everyone. Article: http://community.fireengineering.com/m/blogpost?id=1219672%3ABlogPost%3A625148

After a dispute with the State Of Connecticut over taxes, General Electric announced the move of their worldwide corporate headquarters from Fairfield, CT, where it's 68 acre campus has been for 42 years, to Boston, MA later this year. today. The company, which is in a diverse variety of industries, reported earnings of $149 billion last year, and employs 800 people at it's Fairfield Headquarters. Fairfield is very close to Westchester. I-95, the Merritt Parkway, and several Metro North stations transverse the town. Fairfield sits adjacent to Bridgeport, and just east of Norwalk, where it borders Westport. It's bordered on the south by the Long Island Sound. The property alone is worth $76.5 million. Along with the jobs it takes and people moving out of town to stay with GE, the local economy is going to take a giant hit all around. I wonder how Fairfield Fire Department will fair, I would assume GE is a major tax base for them. http://www.ctpost.com/business/article/Boston-lands-GE-headquarters-6755956.php http://www.courant.com/business/hc-boston-ge-moving-20160113-story.html

The ambulance of the future is here. Not "conceptual", an actual in service ambulance(s). I got to see this rig first hand last September when it was still a prototype. It is awesome, and the numerous and extensive redesigned features are hard to sum up and are going to make lives for the crew much easier, safer, and more efficient. Some industry changing standards on these rigs. One of the first ambulances in the US to be designed with DHS and CAAS reccomendations in mind. I hope to see some ambulances in Westchester going to these trends. Read the article and see the photos at the link below for full details. http://www.austintexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/EMS/New_Ambulance_Design.pdf

As far as carrying two patients goes,I can't remember which Code it may be in (City Of Austin, Travis County, State Of Texas), but I think the capacity to transport two patients may be required, or was a requirement for an MCI grant. It's mainly there should a mass evacuation be necessary.
