  1. Except for Code 3 Day, which you need to make! No "Bachelor Partys" this year, I hope! Anyways all, I am back in the WC! Quite the shock, considering I spent yesterday afternoon chilling on Mission Beach in San Diego! Sunny and 60 degrees, and tons of people around. I'm done with NY and the snow, lol! I will post the rest of the details of my trip tommorow. Photos will be submitted, and hopefully posted.
  2. What does everyone else think of that Stiloski's Heavy Rescue posted on the front page? www.emtbravo.com It used to be FDNY Rescue 1, serving Manhattan during the late 80's and early 90's, and most recently was a spare. I think it is a pretty hot concept and a pretty good idea. The color scheme looks awesome on that rig. Hopefully, Stiloski's will provide a listing of the auxillary equipment carried on that rig to 60 control and FD's, so we know what is available if we need it. Stiloski's has a lot of cool trucks in his fleet. I'm suprised though that no FD around here snapped it up. Some bodywork and some TLC, it would make an awesome rescue!
  3. So, I saw in the other thread White Plains has switched back to County numbering, as well as heard it for myself? Anybody know the reason behind this change? Also noticed another new thing while monitoring the fire. Their seems to be an IC that identifies as "Public Safety #", sperate from the duty chief. Who is this person, and what is their role?
  4. Well, if you scrap Rescue 47 as well, then I will be highly PO'ed,lol!! That truck is in pretty great shape given its age and wear, and would makle a great fit for a needy department. Hopefully, others will see it that way too.....I hope the governors of P'ville don't treat their elders this way, lol!!
  5. And another thing, is it in that bad of shape? Can't it be donated to another country that desperetly needs a piece like that, despite what kind of condition it would be in?
  6. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! That is absolutely disgusting! The FD would rather send it to be cut up for scrap, rather than give it to a collector or keeping it as a department antique??? Oh, very very sad news!! But I guess you can't keep everything. It's just sad, once history is gone it is gone. What is the deal with it's twin????
  7. Thanks Guys. It's funny, when I was on a regular, set schedule at school, I never got sick once the whole year. I go a schedule that is all over the place (not really my choice), and it seems like every couple of weeks now I'm getting sick. Ugh. I am absolutely pissed that I had to get sick while I was out here....I had so much I wanted to do and see. Also....I let myself get too run down by keeping busy when I am actually off and dont take enough time to rest....maybe I should take advantage of Jetblue's cheap fares to the Bahamas, lol! Anyways, I'm trying to work my way though some of my emails.....and what do I discover sitting in my inbox? A $25.00 travel voucher from JetBlue to apologize for the 2 hour delay and stop at the gas station! I LOVE JETBLUE! They rule, and that is just another example of why.
  8. Have you checked it out yet? www.emtbravo.com Custom 1/64th "Kitbash" of Yonkers Rescue 1, the only one in the world, done by EMTBravo Network member Stepjam. I hear the creator is also working on kitbash of Yonkers Engine 313 and Ladder 73's current pieces for release in '05. More of his work can be viewed here, as well as in progress photos: http://public.fotki.com/Stepjam/ AWESOME Work!!
  9. Just so everybody is aware when people are looking for me, lol. Providing I do not chicken out and not get on the plane (I LOVE to fly and love airplanes, but my other personality is terrified of flying), I will be flying JetBlue to San Diego tommorow morning, where I will be staying until Thursday evening. This trip also has do with my pursuit/dream of a Firefighter/Paramedic career in Los Angeles County. Although 1 night and 1 day will be spent in LA (LA is quickly becoming my second home, lol , this trip will primarily focus on San Diego....I've never been to San Diego before. So if anybody's looking for me, or wondering why there is a delay in my reply to them via PM or email, that's why. And I hope nobody will be emailing me to complain about slow updates to the site while I'm away, lol! And although I will be checking in here a couple of times a day, I'm not going to spend several hours as I do each day updating the site and answering emails when I'm in California....I'm going to try and devote as much time as possible to enjoying the area and seeing the sites, and taking care of business. Don't fret though, updates will resume next weekend. Special thanks to Truck4 and CODE3RND for their tremendous help in planning my trip. Although it's rainy season out there, I hope to get some good photos to share with you guys upon my return.
  10. Ladys and Gentleman, I present to you Exhibit A of what simple reasons are holding this county back.....LOL!!! I like the KEF227 too, but you have to know when to let things go! :builder:
  11. Well, except for the Cops re-runs, and Married with Children, I hate the FX cable channel. Same goes for Fox TV (with the exception of Fox News). I feel they are very unethical and will show anything/degrate/exploit anything in the name of ratings. Like how they are basically trashing firefighters in the show "Rescue Me" So, they are advertising for a "FX Original Movie" tonight. It's called "Smallpox" and it's regarding a smallpox outbreak in a urban area. At the end of the commercial, they show words on the screen and the announcer says (in regards to a smallpox outbreak and the movie)"It's all true.....it just hasn't happened.....yet". Now, I don't think it's very nice, the premise of the movie. But it is a movie. I take issue with that last line in the commercial. You're really going to freak some people out with the movie already, is it neccasary to put that line in? Thats just messed up IMO.
  12. Thanks DOC. I just spoke with one of my friends out there (he's from NY out there visiting) who said it's raining, and absolutely miserable. January is rainy season out there. I'm mainly going out on business, so hopefully my next time out will be nice and sunny again. Grrrrr. Well, I will try and get as many Fire apparatus and other photos as I can. I hope for at least one sunny day.
  13. This photo certainly says alot. Photo AP/Digital Globe
  14. Why is the City Of White Plains so stingy? They seem to be a thriving city with a nice tax base, and they seem to be frugal with a lot of their expenditures, so they must have a decent amount of money to at least renovate the station. As for ESU being in the station, doesn't ESU patrol?
  15. I've donated money online to a couple different charities, but not the Red Cross. Besides them, I'm sure there are tons of others out there looking to make a quick dollar from this tragedy. It's quite the sad situation. A lot of these people had nothing to begin with. The continuing to rise toll is unbelievable. And the disease and problems to come is unimaginable.
  16. Just looking through the photos of the New Ro fire today on NYCFire.net, and noticed there was a seemingly newer Transcare bus in one of the photos, with the standard Transcare markings. Do the New Ro EMS buses (30-A-1 and 2) no longer striped/marked for New Rochelle EMS and Sound Shore Hospital? Maybe I'm just out of the loop down that way, but I know it was like that. I thought it was part of the contract for the buses to be marked as such?
  17. That would be my guess. Actually, I see the FD's/VAC's fighting the centralazation plans so they don't lose their hometown dispatch. There's already talk of it.....unfortunetly, there are some really anti-progressive/local control advocates in the area. I don't see it being feasible for GPD to do it, so I personally think if your going to do all those equipment changes, then just go to 60 control anyways.
  18. William J. Matthews, father of Fairview FD Deputy Chief Barry Matthews has passed away. Retired from Fairview FD, past member of Rye and Ossining FD's.....and very active in the Westchester Fire service during his time. Mr. Matthews got to see Barry bring back Fairview's Ahrens Fox Engine 1,which he was the last to drive before it left FFD, return to Fairview this summer, and rode on it with Chief Matthews during Hartsdale's 100th Anniversary Parade. RIP.
  19. These are the kinds of threads that I like seeing. =D> =D> =D> =D> Excellent points and advice that can be used by everyone! What is all boils down to....mutual respect and proffesionalism.......on both sides. It's all to easy to just play "Blame The Dispatcher" . There's a lot that goes on there that field people don't see or understand, and vice versa.
  20. Happy New Years Everyone!! I'll be celebrating it KEC625 style, lol!!
  21. The site is free to those who subscribe to Cablevision Cable or Broadband. If you live outside of Westchester and do not subscribe to the above, and want to stay current on what goes on in the WC, than you must pay. Like when I travel and acess it via a different ISP, I have to enter in my OptOnline name and password or my account number to access the news. I would have thought I would just have to put in 25 cents and turn the knob, and the news would come out.
