Sounds a little biased to me. Not really. Although I agree from most points in Westchester, including Vista, you can get patients to a trauma center (Norwalk, Danbury, Stamford, Jacobi or even Westchester), the situation is not the same in Boston. All of Boston's trauma centers are centrally located within the city. Due to the large volumes of traffic and road conditions in the city of Boston, and in the outlying suburbs, it is often faster to fly the patient in then try to drive. Sometimes, if your at Route 1 in Saugus which is pretty much a straight shot into the city, you can get in in 10 minutes by ground, that same trip could take you 25 minutes during rush hour. Plus, Boston Medflight is a top notch program, and has some excellent (and fast) staff. It's a world of difference between them and Stat Flight. http://www.bostonmedflight.org/ Also, having worked/interned for a helicopter program recieving facilty, I have seen patients come in by helicopter that made it barely that probaly would have died during a ground tranport. Another problem with Air Med helo's is the fact that people abuse them. They think just because it's a big job, even if the patient has minor injuries, that Stat Flight is always needed no matter what, and don't take any other factors, such as ground vs air time, into consideration. Suburbs, maybe not so much a neccesity, with exception of special circumstances. Rural areas, a helicopter is a neccesity.

With all the talk in the other thread regarding what you carry in your gear pockets got me thinking. If you are struck, fall, or recieve some sort of blunt force, what are the chances of something you carry in your back pocket puncturing your gear and you, or hurting you in some other fashion?? Does this affect the way or what you carry in your pockets? For example, Channel Lock Linesman Cutters, which are being carried more and more because there's a great tool to cut yourself loose from an entanglement in a mattress or wires,etc......but can injure you if you fall, or absorb and retain heat, becoming superheated. Is any of the above an issue?

Interesting article out of today's USA Today. But when will USA Today start realizing Medic's aren't just for cardiac arrrests!!

Nice articles. I actually wonder what the guys actually preferred after using both. I would have to guess the straight stick. I'm highly doubtful any of these tillers are still around anywhere?

The photos are now posted. The truck looks really nice....having a Sutphen TL on a Spartan chasis is really unique. I'm not sure I've seen a Sutphen TL on anything but a Sutphen. Norwalk loves the Spartan chasis, I think almost every first line in their fleet is now on a Spartan. I like the colors of the truck too, Norwalk's scheme is really nice even if it isn't red. However, they also really love those aerodynic lightbars...suprised they don't wan't an LED bar. But those Aerodynics are pretty bright. The truck also looks to have both a traditional and an electronic Q, that should be interesting.

WOW! They are starting to look hot! It's good to see new Macks coming to NYC!!!

Awhile ago, I had heard Port Chester FD was going to 60 Control for dispatch....anyone know the status of this? If it's true, I hope Fire Control adds staff and expands facilities to keep up with their ever-increasing call volume.

I sincerly hope this thing is stopped when he is doing his procedures, lol. Pretty cool gimmick.

I recieved Code 3 FDNY Squad 61 yesterday. Absolutely beautiful! It's a 1/32 diecast of the real FDNY Squad 61. It is AWESOME! The detail is amazing, just stunning!! It's kinda like they shrunk the whole truck down to 1/32 scale. Unbelievable the amount of detail packed into this piece. I highly reccomend this piece! Photos have been submitted, and are now up on www.emtbravo.com More information on this piece at Code 3's website, www.code3.net/fire Did anybody else here recieve this piece?

An editorial that was found in today's Journal News. Pretty nicely done IMO. They must like Putnam, lol! I like how they make a subtle point that a centralized facility is better to coordinate resources countywide.

I was informed today that Pound Ridge VAC will be taking delivery this week of a 2005 Ford E-450/Lifeline Superliner. http://www.lifelineambulance.com/ Another Lifeline for the WC, it's great to see a VAC that didn't drink the PL Custom Kool Aid. Lifeline is an awesome manufacturer, and far superior to PL IMO. Their buses are built like tanks, and ride like Cadillacs. Also the interior is layed out very nicely. Excellent ambulance brand, and glad to see another one in the WC! (To my knowledge, Ardsley Dobbs Ferry and Hastings are the only other EMS agencies in the WC to operate Lifelines) Norwalk and Greenwich EMS are two other agencies in the area to operate this awesome brand. Lifeline and Excellance are the two best brands in the industry!! PL's are OK, but I prefer the two afformentioned. BTW, PRVAC will be keeping the current 78-B-1, a 1998 Ford E-350(Gas)/Braun. Word is they want to expand their building to house both.

Wow, that display-diorama is HOT! I actually have the GI Joe Firefighter, and must admit that it's one of my favorite pieces in my collection. Very authentic and nicely done. It was extremly hard to find at the time. I got mine from Westchester Collectibles.

That really is not a lot of money for a large police department at all, especially for a department like GPD. Why do you question their need for two new animal control vans? They have an animal control department, which not only provides AC for the unincorparted town, but some the surrounding towns as well. The AC officers are needed, I think, and they should be entitled to new vans and reliable equipment, the current vans are 4 years old, and are on the road 24/7. Also, note the current vans will be redeployed in the PD or other town department that needs them. The Fire Departments budgets are seperate from the towns, as the FD's are independent taxing districts. The only thing I wish I saw in this year's budget was $$ for LifePak 12's and increased EMS staffing.

So, Sanitation workers get the benefit, but EMS doesn't??? Is this some kind of joke? Absolutely disgusting, and the politicians should be ashamed of themselves!!DISGUSTING!!!

Information passed along to me from FAC911. Dante was a former MOS of Empress EMS, as well as OLM*EMS and St. Vincents Midtown EMS. Dante moved to Florida a few years back for a career in Law Enforcment, and his life was tragically cut short a few days ago. RIP Dante. How embarrasing for the profession!!! Sadly, this turnout gear incident extends beyond just commercial alarms. I have seen speficic departments that don't wear full PPE to car fires and several other incident types as well either. These departments have been captured at incidents, such as operating at a multi-vehicle MVA on an interstate, in blue jeans and a T-shirt. It's not only an image thing, it's safety as well. This also shows complacency that some departments exhibit due to the large number of false commercial alarms. This is a dangerouss trap to fall into. It can't hurt to put on an SCBA every time either. In fact, it is a benefit......practice makes perfect....well, almost. Do the job correctly and completly, no excuses, or don't do it at all. L31TruckiePCFD, I strongly hope you consider writing a letter to the chiefs of this department...unfortunelty, I think it will go into the "we know what we are doing thanks" bin.

Is Peekskill's Cortlandt VAC's old one? Also, off the top of my head the only other 4WD bus in the county is Vista....I think.

So, I'm sure many of you have heard about "Jamster", right? It's the utterly retarded ringtone and cellphone wallpaper company thats been swamping the media with multiple, repeating, and annoying ads. 24/7, it seems like every commerical break on TV has one or more Jamster ads, some back to back. The radio too. Now, I am seeing their ads in Magazines, and Internet banners and pop ups! These ads are SO annoying, I can't stand it! Why are they saturating the market so much! I swear, theres something up. There has to be a subliminal message or something in the ads. There has to be an evil subplot to this, besides annoying the crud out of me. Can't we divert an Air Force Bomber from Iraq to their HQ's for a day?? Has anybody heard the stupid ringtones? WHO BUYS THESE?

I just wanted to clarify my above statement, I not only like the website.....I like the apparatus as well!! A great team you have there......former LA City and FDNY Apparatus designers...my two favorites!

You can park them at my house in Beverly Hills.

Ditto!!! Just a suggestion though, I'd like to see photos of the rigs you've designed posted on the site. They're all awesome, and you guys should really show them off more.

In addition to the Gallery, a decent photo format is JPEG. A compressed web formatted(around 5%) JPEG photo will load quicker. Also, make sure your photo size is reasonable, and the file size as well. Invest in some decent photo editing software to do the above.. PM me for further... Site keeps getting better. Got to see some E119/T10 together shots when they both are back.
