The new tower is beautiful, from what I can tell. It's color is very unique. I can't wait to get a better shot of it.

Thanks to ja3KFD and his high-level WMC connections, the situation of decon gear as described above seems to have been resolved with the arrival of a shiny new decon trailer and decluttering of the shower room. From what I hear, training and a plan for the deployment of the equipment is next Thanks ja3KFD!! Now, can you get us our EMS report room/after-call lounge back please, lol!!! Those "ANSC" nurses stole it!! And the old emty cabinets, with some of the trash that was formely covering the gear still in them

So is Not-News 12 Westchester going to be lumped into the "Hudson Valley" broadcast, or are they going to stay independent? Hope they have the Journal News in O & R, lol!! Also, It's going to be quite a trek for the cameramen, er, camerapeople to buff jobs up there! If News 12 isn't covering Putnam under this new tune, then I assume Putnam is not covered by Cablevision cable service??

Does anyone know if this was approved on Monday night? Anyone also heard of this Helocopter brand?

Metro-North conducts this drill every year in a different municipality. In recent memory, it's been held in New Rochelle and Chappaqua. If you are strongly interested in learning more about rail line emergencies, I suggest you contact the MTA to request some basic training. Also, try suggesting to the county that they provide a course on this, and talk to the MTA about holding a drill in your community next year. Long Island and Connecticut lines also have these yearly drills.

This problem is being resolved, courtesy of the Arena family!! Thanks Jim!

Well, I was sitting on post at work by the Train Tracks in the Hills Of Bedford stalking Tower Ladder 57 as usual, and I noticed on the Metro North tracks what appeared to be a brand new train. It looked HOT, and very modern. Did Metro North get new trains, and has anybody ridden on one yet? Are they nice inside? Are these the "M3's" that they were talking about getting a while back? I didnt know they were coming so soon if they were. Not really a train buff, although I do like them. My main vehicle related buffing knowlege is related to Fire apparatus and commercial aircraft. So please excuse my train ignorance, lol!

I finally got to ride on one of the new trains via Grand Central -> Hartsdale on my way home from Philadelphia. Overall, nothing special. On the outside, these trains look way nicer, but the older trains feel a lot more comfortable and roomy. These trains feel too cramped. The ride didn't feel any different, either and the interior cabin is way too bright.

A few recent incidents sparked a though I've always wondered about.... How come urbans areas don't have tankers or water tenders? I would think they would be useful for low-volume situations, water main breaks, truck and brush fires in remote areas and on interstates, and other similar type situations. These departments have plenty of "special circumstance" apparatus, so why aren't tankers or water tenders in the mix??
-
The 'view has absolutely no room whatsover, and the floors are failing in both stations. Station 1 and 2 can barely fit what they have now, and some apparatus is even stored outside. Fairview is long overdue for new stations. Hartsdale may be able to fit it, maybe in 2 years !! I'd love to see a Greenburgh FD Tanker, lol!!
-
It mentions that that there used to be a seperate Village of North Pelham. Was this a seperate PD and FD too? I wonder if the FD's will be next?
-
Congrats to all!!

But look at foam units, Hazmat-Decon units, and all the other "special circumstance" type apparatus that rarely gets used for a real job, but is essential to have.....I would think a tanker would be an addiiton to this reserve arsenal.

Anybody have any idea whether the expo at the Rockland FTC is happening this year, and when? I haven't heard or seen anything about it yet, and Truck4's Regional Event lisiting has it as "TBA" ? Usually it's kinda of low key with publicity, but still.
-
But it's not always about a water supply in good condition, it's those "other" times....
-
Oh, c'mon YFD!!!!! LOL!

Firefighters should be role-models for fitness, as should cops and EMT/EMT-P's. This job demands a lot from your body. You keep your apparatus in tip-top shape, why not yourself??? It's hard, and time consuming, but isn't this job in general? WHY IS THERE NOT A STANDARD???

So, the jist is they are taking Fire suppresion units OOS and replacing them with EMS units????
