Then why would they have Boston PD, Mass SP, and BEMS vehicles in NYC??? Boston could use the benefit too. NYC and Yonkers just offer better financial incentives.

Briarcliff people....photos for us??????

I'm going to do an x635 blog.

The LAFD feed is syndicated off a BlogSpot blog.

I want photos! I swear they will be posted, it's just a matter of when, lol

What is this, Attack The Seth Week????? I don't do this often, but you are now the recipient of an official x635 brand NO!!! What you are saying just sounds absurd to me! Just because I have Darth Tater as my avatar does not make me crazy!! First off, I have EVERY right to state my opinion, when it's done positvely and constructively, thats part of the purpose of this forum. And who DO YOU think you are to try and censor me? Why are you so seemingly afraid of change? Why can't I make a topic for d-i-s-c-u-s-s-i-o-n ?????? What is wrong with that? What is this "reason" you speak of? Since I'm going to be viewing and photographing the parade, I will be standing to the side watching with the rest of the crowd. We are going to create several modern and fun categories while doing this and award points via a worksheet, nothing that involves touching or approaching the rigs by any means, and post the results on this site. I'm HIGHLY doubtful that you can have me removed from viewing a public parade just for doing that. In case you weren't listening before, I AM NOT TRYING TO COMPETE WITH WCPJA!!!! I am just trying to do something fun for the site, and a select couple of people are taking this way, way out of context and way too seriously. I do not understand what the problem is???? I also find it highly agitating that you would imply that I would be removed from a parade for watching the parade, picking our favorites, and posting it here??? There is something seriously wrong there.... ALS and PVFD, great posts and excellent insight, I agree completly with both.

Photos are up. Why wouldn't you just film a film that takes place in Boston IN Boston??????

I, like many of my EMS professional collegues, like to give our patients a smooth, comfortable ride. Due to the road conditions in Westchester, this is many times a difficult task. For approximetly two months now, the main access road the WMC trauma center has contained a large depressionthat spans the width of the road. This is a result of installation of a new gas main that was installed months ago. I do understand that they are awaiting a final topcoat pave, this issue needs attention before then. Although this may seem minor and petty to some, this creates quite a large, jarring and uncomfortable bump for patients riding in the back of an ambulance, even when traveling below 5MPH. Although as I mentioned, roads are bumpy. However, this is a regional medical center, and such a problem that causes discomfort to patients, especially those suffering from fractures and other trauma that frequently come in via EMS to WMC. There is a another access, but this access takes additional 1-2 minutes of time. I just cannot understand why this situation has not been noticed or corrected, and temporary patch asphalt is still in place. And while I'm at it, who do I see to get the EMS report room/after call lounge back?????????? Here are some photos:

The "Bump In The Road" was finally fixed!! I heard it was done last Friday, and felt it for myself yesterday. Now if only we could get the curb cut in, lol!

I'm sorry. I absolutely disagree with the statements that parades are for, or good for, department spirit. If that is what builds spirit, then that department is in serious trouble. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but it really builds my spirit by being able to use my training and equipment to help somebody. It builds my spirit to be able to learn and grow as a professional. Although I do agree Parades are great for "community relations", It really doesn't build my spirit at all to march down the street with shiny firetrucks with half the people marching there for one liquid reason. Parades are fun for me, because I am an apparatus enthusiast. But professionally, are we here to "have fun" or do a job? I guess what I'm trying to say is that we could be better focusing our time on enhancing fire and ems things, rather then marching in a parade. Maybe we should be having firematic competions, instead of parades. Such as who can get water on the fire the fastest, extrication competion, etc in addition to the more traditional aspects. It seems people take who wins what award at a parade more seriously then firematic things sometimes, and spend time on parades that could be spent doing other things. All I am saying is maybe "ehnanced" parade judging could be a tool or incentive to improve or encourage improvment on some issues.

OK, excuse me here, I'm a total boating novice. I assume that this boat would be BIG "traditional" fireboat. I don't know if anybody is familiar with the new LA Fireboat 2, but I have heard that FDNY is very interested in that

Awesome news!

cheekmedic, Captain Morgan is your commanding officer!!! I don't drink...at all, ever and I've never been drunk. Just never been interested. I have NOTHING against it, just never have been myself and again have no interest in it. However, I'm at the point now where sipping a nice Pina Colada while floating down the lazy river at my hotel is sounding mighty nice right about now. I've managed to get a "tour guide" for my trip...a freind from another board as JBE mention. Ex-FDNY, lol. I'm going to spend half day buffing, but the main purpose of this trip is to chill out and relax. Also, I don't really feel like driving too much, I HATE driving. Since most of my trips are "active" trips, this one is going to be lazy and nice. Thanks to all for the advice.

Great topic! I feel this is a tremendous grey area. DNR does NOT mean "Do Not Rescuscite". Unfortuntely, it is not that simple? What level of care are you supposed to provide to the patient, and where are you supposed to cut it off? If they patient has a DNR and is going into resp arrest, are you not supposed to bag them? This has me confused and bewildered, as there are so many different storys swirling around. I'd love to see REMSCO come out with a meeting or clear policy update so we all stand on the same page.

From where Sleepy Hollow was just a few years ago, to where it is today is amazing. Congrats on a well deserved award!

I'm just curious, when are you supposed to wax a new car or truck for the first time?? How long are you supposed to wait from delivery to putting a coat of wax on?
-
It's funny you should mention Malco. I love their products. I use there car wash/wax and the flash wax. Both products produce an excellent and shiny result. Also to note, D&S Auto Supply next to Citibank in the KMART Plaza on 119 in Fairview also carrys these products.

Just curious what FDNY*EMS does for it's field staff for EMS week???

Check out the photo at the link below. It's of Baltimore City's new Truck 15, a 2005 Seagrave Concorde. First I'm seeing of the new chasis on a production unit, and it doesn't look that bad at all. (Photo by "SlipperySam21" of the TheWatchDesk.com) http://www.thewatchdesk.com/forum/attachme...tid=18666&stc=1 Looks good. But not as good as the brand new traditional chasis though like on Truck 1.

I've kind of lost track. I've heard different things, so maybe someone here can clear it up. Where are FDNY*EMS call received and proccesed, and where are they dispatched nowadays??? I've heard they are still in Maspeth, I've heard they are at Metrotech, I've heard rumors that NYPD dispatchers will be trained to take EMS calls and then route them via computers to one of the 5 FDNY Borough dispatch centers? So how is it done currently?

I grow very tired of the whole "Pizza, Fast Food, Chinese, Deli, Diner, Freindlys", AKA very limited and the same choices in the area where I work now. They are also very overpriced. I miss Panchito's on S. Broadway in Yonkers. That was good and cheap food. Golden Crust bakeries are really nice, you can get a Beef patty, coco bread, and a soda for like 2 bucks. And it's very filling. Kenny Rogers Roasters was nice when it was in Yonkers, and they gave you a discount in uniform. Fresh, good food. Walters, the famous hot dog stand in Mamaroneck is always good if you can swing by there. Basically, while working, I like any place that serves up their food rapidly, at a good price, and it is tasty! There's way too much BLAND AND PRICEY in this county!! And any place that is freindly and works to earn your repeat business is A++ in my book!

I'd love to go to this....I wonder where/when is a good place to get photos....

Well, my current dissatisfaction with the Westchester County Parade Judges Association over TL-57 ranking 3rd last week during BHFD's inspection has spawned me an idea. I'm going to form my own Parade Judges association!!! Yep, thats right!! As for right now, we will only be judging apparatus. The first parade we will be tentatively scheduled to (unofficially and in no way sanctioned by PFD, lol) judge will be the Pleasantville Parade on Friday, June 3rd. 901 has agreed to be my co-judge. (Anyone who wants to join me in this endeavor, I'm not exactly sure how this is going to work yet, and too many people may be a PIA, but email me and I will consider it...email, NOT PM) I am also going to try and make a "Members Choice" award from the posted photos and via voting on this forum. And the main difference between my "association" and the WCPJA's will be this. Our apparatus judging will not be based so much on cleanliness and shininess, but on other factors such as layout, lighting package, striping/graphics/lettering, function, progressiveness, workload, pride taken in the rig, uniqueness, etc etc. We will be developing categories other stuff in the next couple of weeks. More to follow..... **EDIT TO ADD**: PLEASE DO NOT HIJACK THIS THREAD WITH UNRELATED OR UNECCASARY COMMENTS. THANKS!!!

What ever happened to hospitals being a charity to help the sick and injured, regardless of their financial conditions?? Seems to me like Heatlhcare now is more concerned with profit then patient care. Westchester is also in a tricky sitution because they are located so close to NYC, where many hospitals offer the name turciary care services but with the city hospital reputations. Maybe the Fire Unions and Volunteer associations need to start speaking up about this. If not, people may start going to Cornell.
