I'll be in touch. Last time I went, I went with Ardsley, it was Joe C., Pat, Richie, Mark, Matt, and Chris and we had a great time, more after the expo then during, lol. We'll go out again. If Mark goes, make sure he brings a swimsuit and decon supplies this time. Hope to see all you guys here on this thread down there, we should definetly try to get together and do something.

LOL, I didn't know anybody noticed that section. I think I forgot to send Chris photos.

Same here. I was looking foward to going, but overtime came my way and I had to take it. Because I never get any prescheduled overtime like NYTruckie and WAS967 [-(

Just curious, besides the Macys display, who has the best (public) Fireworks display in the area? Where is it best viewed from? Why is it the best? Any associated activities? Also, is the Macys display visible from any part of the area?

I say my first move is to fire Art. :chainsaw:

I don't want, or need an office.

I had the oppurtunity to participate in the flashover simulator at the Rockland County FTC during my Intial Attack class. Definetly something every firefighter should witness and experience in person. Because experience is one of the best tools to train.

I've worked and talked with many of the people you have mentioned in your post today, and all of us shared one common view..... You Arenas, and your tremendous strength and positive atittude are truly an inspiration to us all. All the people you mentioned, like many involved in this service, it's just their natural instinct...to help, especially when it's one of our truest brothers.

Maybe I should go for it? :-k :help: :builder: :caffine: Hmmm, I think I'll write an email now.

Check out this video. Idiots, alcohol, and fireworks make a great combination! http://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/firecrac...kersuicide.html This one's also quite fascinating: http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=h...humantarget.wmv

Just curious, what are some protocols for checking a structure that has been, or suspected to have been, struck by lightening?? What are some things that you should check? Seems to be a call that's going out quite a bit lately.

I use the lens on my Canon Digital Rebel. It's a great walk around, all purpose lens, and takes very nice photos. There are some issues that I have, but I'm exhausted and will try to explain more tommmorow.

Are you kidding me with that comment? It has nothing to do with "resembling the city's", that type of comment is so off base it's not even humorous. Where did you come up with that? It's because it's a Seagrave/Aerialscope, one of my favorite brands around. It's because the truck always rolls with full staffing of well trained, quallified, experienced, and enthusiastic personel. It's because the truck is so well-utilized It's because so much pride is taken in the truck, and it is kept up so nicely. It's because the truck is spec'd and equipped awesome. Most importantly, it's because of all my great friends in BHFD who take such good care of me and have always been supportive of me, and this goes before the website even existed. I have many favorite trucks in this county, and that's some of the reasons TL-57 is towards the top of my list. I take a lot of heat for my love of TL-57, and I don't care. I don't see what the big deal is, it's my issue!!! To answer JML's comment, I'd love to at some point, lol!!!

According to a published report in this week's North County News, Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association (Not the district?) is looking to build a substation at Route 6 and Mill St. States it will be a prefab structure possibly done by next winter, and sounds to be a storage firehouse and ambulance substation. Anybody have further details on this?

I just want to reiterate that superstar Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57 won best TL, and Tanker 5 won best Tanker. Just confirming what we already know. Who judges Mamaroneck, BTW?

Well, Code 3 is finally releasing a 1/64th diecast replica of the Super Pumper, Super Tender, and the three original satellites. They look AWESOME!! Much anticipated, and a very unique piece of FDNY and fire service history! http://www.code3.net/fire/ Club only ordering until the 14th, and then open to the public. Also releasing a awesome resin 3-D Backdraft poster, and FDNY Engine 58, among other things this quarter.

They are getting a Rescue only? That is strange that you say that, I have heard from numerous sources that it will be a RESCUE PUMPER, meaning an engine. Also, it cost over $500,000 and that is way more than any reasonable single role rescue would cost. I'm pretty positive we will be seeing a Pierce Dash Rescue Pumper.

The "Rescue Squad" is awesome. I've had the chance to go over R-20 quite extensively over the past two days, and I really like the layout. Very nicely thought out. Tons of great and innovative new equipment for it. This piece is long overdue for Somers, and will work very well for them and their mutual aid communities. As soon as the weather clears up and the truck is equiped, I will be posting photos. Spy shots will hopefully be up soon though.

Man, I'm ticked! I couldn't make it on Wednesday, because of work. I could have made it, since it got bumped, but I took OT. #-o Ah, I'm getting bored of parades/shooting parades but I still love to go and watch. Hopefully I will be able to make it to Mahopac.

Wait, wait wait. So Thornwood is getting an Engine AND a Rescue truck? What is the rescue truck going to be, and what brand, and will it replace anything? Where will they put it?
-
Absolutely disgusting. How could this happen? I mean, really? This does not make sense at all to me, why would somebody even think of this?
-
Looks good! Also, they are doing an Ahrens Fox from Tarrytown I believe.

Clipping from the Enterprise above Well, the Enterprise (Rivertowns local newspaper) is reporting that the new Ardsley Firehouse is again on the "front burner". The village is currenty doubling funding, since construction costs have doubled since 2002 bond issue, and trying to find a temporary location for the firehouse. The current one will have to be completly demolished (building circa 1896) and extensive sitework will have to be done. So supposedly, bids will be awarded in the fall, and groundbreaking should start next winter provided all goes well. Construction is estimated to take up to two years to complete. Delays in this project have included the Village dragging their feet, the original Architect going out of business, the village wanting the project as bare bones as possible, finding a temporary location for the new firehouse, and indecicevness over financing. The only thing about the article that scared me is that the new firehouse is being made to match "Villiage (sic) Hall". And "Villiage Hall" is butt ugly. But I like the way the firehouse looks in the photo above, however I can't see the colors. I'll believe this when I see it done. I've been hearing since 1997 that it will be "next spring"...I'm hoping this time it's true. Maybe if Capt. firemn23 or another Ardsley member will help me out, I can get some photos to show you exactly why Ardsley needs a new house.

Anyone else here this rumor that NY State Police is going to a black-and-white color scheme? I sure hope this is truly only a rumor, I really like thier current scheme. Black and white for NYSP would be extremly wierd.
