  1. Now that Saulsbury has shut down basically by the E-One aqquisition, is Saulsbury still manufacturing the ESU Trucks (the Macks, not the REP's) from their Florida plant?? Also, who currently builds the ESU REP bodies for NYPD? Odyssey still have the contract???? And my final question...what is the typical lifespan/replacment cycle of these rigs??
  2. I find it suprising that LA doesn't like towers at all, not even as a special call kinda unit. They do have their advantages. But after seeing how awesome an LA truck company is in action, I see how beneficial standization of (progessive) operations and straight sticks really work well.
  3. What is the current Engine 125? I'm placing my bet with ALF or Seagrave!
  4. Been waiting for these pictures to start...and I will be tracking the progress. The frame rails are looking good!
  5. Good luck in your quest to rebuild your firehouse and thanks for passing along the information...are you guys planning any events/fundraisers to help the cause???
  6. Don't forget to add this to the event calendar!!
  7. What a sad tragedy to hit such a tight knit community. My thoughts and prayers are with Charlie, his family and friends. May Charlie RIP. :-(
  8. I'm very jealous as I anxiously await August 23rd!!! Thanks for the review....I was actually considering purchasing that set, but doubtful the deal was legit, and skeptical about the quality.. I wish I had the $$$ to buy.....but instead, I've got the Universal DVD coming, and gonna spend the money I could buy this set with on a another trip to LA!
  9. Huge order! Can't wait to see these delivered. Thanks for the news. That Predator chasis sure is becoming popular. I wonder how it will be adapted for LA County use. Also, are all the KME's built in PA, and shipped out there??? They've got some operation out that way, especially now..
  10. Wow! Awesome new deliveries coming out of both LA City and LA County. Can't wait to see (and photograph) the final products of these orders. Thanks for the news! My only hope though is that the ambulances ARE NOT Wheeled Coachs!!! Also, will the ambulances, uh Rescues excuse me be on the Ford E-450 (van) chasis or are they going to go heavier duty, like a Frightliner(sic)?? I doubt that though, since it probaly wouldn't fit into many stations.
  11. Looking for a good, recent photo of a Danbury EMS (Danbury Health Systems) ambulance . If you have one, please contact me at x635@emtbravo.com
  12. I got this idea from another forum. How does your department fuel it's apparatus? Do you use your own pumps, the municpal pumps, or go to a public fuel station? My concern with the departments that use public fuel stations, like Texaco or Mobil, etc is in times of disaster, such as a blackout or major storm. Will these public fuel pumps have enough for us on a consistent basis, and if so, be able to run even if power is down? Also, does your department carry a list of 24/7 fuel stations, and ones that are capable of running during a blackout? Does your department provide 60 Control an updated list with the locations of these facilities in your community?
  13. If anybody has a good photo or photos of me, could you email to me please as soon as you can at x635@EMTBravo.com Thanks!
  14. Sad and sudden loss for the news world. I wasn't even aware he was that sick. A true journalist, a rare breed nowadays.
  15. I heard a rumor at Firehouse Expo Ossining is getting a new Fireboat, and it's supposed to be big and a real fireboat. Anybody have any further info and a delivery ETA?
  16. OK, I seem to be having a mental block here. I know there are fire battalions, but are there EMS Battalions here in Westchester??? I know at one time there was supposed to be a cool "Task Force"concept, but did that ever come off paper into play?
  17. I like the insight on this thread. I especially like the insight on how LA operates, West Coast is so much different from East Coast and it's nice to see how other places operate....theres always something to learn. Thanks for the post and insight Code3RND. My feelings are...do you want an engine, or a truck. It's my experience that often a truck with a pump, when's it's used as a truck the pump rarely gets used, and when its used as an engine, the stick rarely gets used. And the pump also takes away a lot of space that should be used for truck company equipment, and adds signifcantly to the maitnence costs and complexity of the unit. It's nice in some situations and systems to have a Quint, especially when you can't justify both an Engine and Truck. It's also nice to have a backup engine there when you need it.
  18. P-H-O-T-O-S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. It's not just happening in Boston, it's happening in systems all over this country.
  20. Thanks guys! And thanks to those who made a grueling 16 into a nice day. :-)
  21. Any of our members from Hartsdale know what the new eatery "The Hungry Cowboy", across from Engine 170's house is about? Any good? Seems like that place changes hands/names/themes every couple of days. I miss when it was Sunnydale/Cumberland Farms.
  22. Do you also have a Firewall program? If not, get one, a good one (like Mcafee brand or Norton) ASAP. Anybody with a broadband connection shouldn't be without one.
  23. Another interesting thing about this rig is that Jim the apparatus architect from EWFAC, said that this rig is "bare bones", but designed so MVFD could add the "extra" as they can afford them.
