Chief Brannigan definetly took the fire service up to the next level during his time. The knowledge he passed on should be required reading for any entry level firefighter. RIP Chief Brannigan

Wow, a complete redesign of the Tahoe for '07. http://www.chevrolet.com/tahoe/2007/?c=yahoo Looks pretty different.....and nice. Will be interesting to see it in a package fit for emergency services.

Looks like everybody is jumping on the muscle car bandwagon that has been revived recently by Dodge. These other companies can try and compete against Dodge, but they'll never win.

HOT! HOT! HOT! HOT! HOT! What a beautiful car! I love it! I, being the Dodge fan and proud Dodge owner I am, would love to have one. Once again, Dodge blazes the trail and all the other automakers will again just try to keep up.

Spectacular fire, and some really nice photos. Thanks for the links. It's neat to see how Chicago FD operates at such a large incident. They also have some really unique apparatus and techniques as well.

Congrats to Cutty630 of BHFD on both his wedding this New Years Eve, and his appointment to Assistant Chief, Car 2033!! Best wishes in both new endeavors! Have a great time at Turks And Caicos!!!

From the Arena Email List...what great news to kickoff the weekend!!!!!!! They deserve this more and I am very excited for them!

I'm waiting 'til I see it in person before I figure out whether I like it or not. Often enough I see a car in a pre-production photo and hate it, and then see it up close and personal and love it. It's not a Dodge, so obviously it won't be my favorite, but I can still like it. It appears the 2007 Tahoe will be released in just a few weeks!

I, too, was upset after the Journal News neglected our graduation. In addition to my comments above in this thread, I wrote this with the intent to post it then, but for some reason I overlooked it. Here it is.

The Journal News (and News 12) were BOTH notified of this event. The Journal News made a concious choice to completly ignore the Probie Class graduation, to assign reporters and photographers to cover other events, such as the Christmas shopping season. This is typical of the Journal News as of late. I'm sure if it had happened in Putnam or Rockland, it would have been covered. I love opening my LOCAL Westchester paper, and reading all about what's happening in Rockland or Putnam, and also seeing more photos from that area as well. The Journal News has been on a very steady decline since the new format came out. I barely read the paper anymore. The layout is cluttered, extremly heavy on advertisments, and not very organized, and has very little Westchester incident coverage, or photos, as compared to past years. Instead, they seem to be focusing more on human-interest pieces. I have written letters to the Journal News about my feelings on the new format, with no reply.

This weekend, I spent New Years weekend in Boston and went to some of the cool First Night Activities, including the midnight fireworks on the harbor. Got to fly up via jetBlue, on their AWESOME new Embraer E-190 aircraft. Only 1/2 hour flight from JFK, and $40 each way. Really can't beat it. Although I didn't get very many photos, I did get some which I liked. Here they are. One of many ice sculptures throughout the city. Penguins at the New England Aqarium Massport (Logan) Engine 5, 2005 Pierce Dash A jetBlue A320 "Blue Looks Maahvelous" bound for Fort Lauderdale from Logan jetBlue's BRAND NEW! Embraer E-190 "Yes, I'm a Natural Blue" pulling into the gate for our flight back to JFK Here's a link to a photo of the interior of the cabin of the E-190. The 2x2 layout is real nice! And very roomy! http://images.airliners.net/photos/middle/5/8/1/960185.jpg jetBlue's new bigger screen in flight TV's, now with 36 channels of LIVE DirectTV including WNYW-Fox 5 and 100 channels of LIVE XM Satellite Radio. Unfortunetly, this aircraft had just been delivered the week before, and the in-flight entertainment system had not yet been hooked up...however, my favorite-the flight tracker, was working. Looking out the window somewhere over Rhode Island. Construction begins on jetBlue's newest terminal at the old TWA Terminal 5. jetBlue's current terminal

In my continuing love for the new Metro North M7's which has been professed on this board before, I highly disagree with this article!! I think the new M-7's are not only beautiful, but ride very smoothly and are very comfortable. Although I don't ride them everyday.

Another cool new show- "San Diego Beach Patrol". Monday Nights at 8, on Court TV.

"Dallas SWAT". This show looks to have some potential. A&E usually does a pretty good job with their series as well. Looking foward to seeing it. Series Premiere Thursday, January 5th A&E 10:00 PM Official Site: http://www.aetv.com/dallas_swat/index.jsp

Here are some of my recent additions to my favorite apparatus list. I like the way both of these vehicles are built and laid out, and I also like the looks: #1: City Of Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County NY) Ladder 2, 2002 E-One Cyclone II 110' I should note I haven't been a huge fan of E-One until lately, now that I have been seeing a lot of E-One apparatus up close and personal, I am impressed-especially with this E-One truck shown here! #2. City Of Newburgh (The REAL Orange County, Orange County NY!) Engine 4, 2004 Spartan Gladiator Xtreme/Gowans-Knight #3. LaGrange Engine 47-12, 200? E-One Cyclone II

Just may have to take you up on that! Got to get up there to visit the 03-05 brothers as well.

I use PhotoBucket. It's very basic and easy to use, simple, and generous. Mainly for hosting photos to display in emails or on message boards. If your looking for an online album, pBase is great for that.

Today, while out excerising our cameras on this beautiful fall afternoon and hunting for the elusive Tower Ladder 78 which we are dying to photograph, myself and 901 came upon this antique Seagrave engine in the parking lot of Riverside Hose. Just wondering if anyone knows the story behind it's past, present, and future??? When did it get (back) to Tarrytown? Would love to see it restored, and hopefully that's whats being done! Also, I never knew the first firetruck to succesfully use two-way radio was here in the WC!

I'm suprised that I don't see more departments around the area use shipping containers for training. I would think that these would be fairly cheap, easy to locate and obtain, and easy to convert to a small training building. These boxes seem like they can be easily modified in house to include several props for training, using membership and materials found in the community. Some uses I can think of, and some can be most-in-one: -Search and Rescue maze -Mask Confidence -Roof simulator -Confined Space simulator -Ladder prop -Small Class-A burns (maybe not) -Truck or large vessel fire simulator via class A materials -Forcible entry simulator -FAST/Survival training So, am I missing something? Do some departments in the area have these, or has anybody considered them? And are there any disadvantages?

Is this a joke? "First sold truck in the US to have Real Wheel Spinners" Why would you have wheel spinners on a firetruck? http://www.piercemfg.com/new_deliveries/ne...181&Type=pumper
