From an anonomyous friend who is a high-ranking source in Yonkers Fire. The following information is confirmed: Yonkers is due to recieve 3 American LaFrance Eagle Pumpers and 1 ALF Eagle Rescue pumper due for delivery January 06. Also, a new ALF Eagle tandem axle rescue and 2 Smeal rear mount ladders are due late '06 From what it sounds like to me, the new Rescue will be like nothing seen around here before!!! I am looking foward to it, and all the deliveries! Yonkers will have quite a nice, modern fleet by the end of '06!!

Airtran used to be called "Valujet" I too am skeptical of their safety record. I believe Airtran is taking the gate spaces vacated by Independence Air/flyI when they ceased operations. It's also interesting to note that all routes from HPN will be served by the newly reintroduced, fuel efficient Boeing 717, "one of the quietest, technically-advanced twinjets in the sky", with 12 Business Class and 105 coach seats. The airliners are brand-new to Airtran, and feature XM Satellite Radio at every seat. It's important to note that AirTran is a LCC (Low Cost Carrier), otherwise known as a discount airline. I would have loved to see some jetBlue flights out of HPN. It would have been a goldmine for them, and quite a treat for me! They could have flown HPN-BOS, HPN-IAD, HPN-FLL, HPN-BUR, and HPN-FLL. I know at one time B6 (jetBlue) wanted in, but WC politics turned them away from what I hear. I can still hope for Stewart, at least.

I like http://www.legotwpfire.com Very cool! Very imaginative and creative.

Wow, I can't believe it's been one year already! I remember talking to you when I was in San Diego last January, and you were up in Loma Linda. I thought at the time how awesome parents you were, to search every corner of this country for something that would work. I remember the turnout that morning you returned, and how I was stuck in Somers Communications detailed off of 45-M-2 and anticipating the snowstorm that would snow us in there for the next 16 hours. I remember the excitment in the air that morning, filled with optimism and hope that the revolutionary therapy he had been so privledged to recieve would do the trick. You came and visited me at Lincolndale, knowing how upset I was that I was forced out of the event I had looked so foward to. Just more proof of your spirit. Unfortunetly, as hard as we try, some demons cannot be fought. If this proton machine did one thing, it gave JimmyBoy more time on this earth to spend with us. And there are children that this machine will do the same for. I hope to see it here in Westchester one day.

Huge news for anyone looking to get on in LA City.

Sounds like a good seminar. I hope I can make it.

Another reason why I always will have a job, lol.

I thought the show was AWESOME, very well done. All the focus was on firefighting, and no drama or artificial filling like in "Firehouse USA" I've got to give the Smokejumpers credit, that's quite a demanding and difficult job....it takes a certain breed to do that. As far as Southern California wildfires, I think those are just a myth. I was out there during "fire season" and didnt even see a small patch lol. You owe me a good one LAFirePhotos next time I'm out. After this winter, there should be plenty of fuel.

I like soup. However, it's hard to find, or at least I rarely hear, of places that have good "homemade" soup in the area. One place I have found is Mount Parnese Diner on Central Park Ave. in Greenville. They have huge chunks of chicken, and very hearty and generous ingredients from scratch soups. But that's the only place I know of. Who in the area has good from-scratch soups???? Also, does anybody have any good or unique soup recipes??? I think one really cold Sunday I have off I'm going to experiment with making my own. *Maybe it will get cold enough for soup again at some point this winter! Although I'm not complaining about the current weather!

As JReed stated, it will be going into service as soon as possible. They're currently doing extensive testing to the system, including range/coverage, to make sure it works perfectly all over New Ro before putting it online. Put the frequency into your scanner, and you'll hear when it goes online after they are satisfied and comfortable with everything. PL/DPL is coming soon.

Thanks for the reccomendation on "Ladle Of Love" in Mount Kisco. Tried it the other day, both the service and soup were awesome! I had the Chicken Dumpling. Definetly worth the price, IMO every once and awhile. Funny, they've been in business for 2 years there. Of all the times I worked 45-M-1, I never knew they were in that alley. Think of all the great lunches/snacks I could have had there!!!

This will be a new UHF operations frequency to replace 46.06. This channel will have a repeater to ensure citywide coverage, as well as radio coverage in mutual aid areas.

Congrats Steve! Now ya got to model an ambulance, lol. Good luck!

From and thanks to an anonomyous good friend who is a high-ranking source in Yonkers Fire. The following information is confirmed: The City Coucncil voted this week to approve more apparatus purchases. Yonkers fire will be ordering: 3 new ALF Eagle Engines to replace 307, 310, and 312. This is in addition to the 3 Engines and 1 Rescue-Engine already on order. Bids to replace TL-71 will go out soon. Also, within the next few weeks ,a 3rd rearmount will be added to current order for 2 HME/Smeal 100's So, the new apparatus inbound for YFD in '06 stands at: 7 new Engines. 3 new rearmount trucks 1 new midmount tower ladder 1 new heavy rescue This is quite exciting news, and '06 will definetly be a busy year for new deliveries in Yonkers. All of YFD's fleet will be basically standardized and up-to-date/new. Stay tuned to EMTBravo.com for photos as these pieces are delivered.

What's the best ice cream place in the EMTBravo area? It doesn't seem like there are too many "mom and pop" or roadside stand type Ice Cream places left in the area. My favorite at this point has to be Ben and Jerry's in Mount Kisco. I really am having a hard time coming up with great ice cream places in the area...so help me out and tell me where and why. Cold Stones good too. Baskin and Robbins stinks, they ahve been ruined by Dunkin Donuts. I want beyond the chain.

As many of you are well aware, I LOVE to travel. Although my 2006 travel plans will be less then normal, due to a new job and limited funds due to an anticipated home purchase, I still have some 2006 travel goals. Some are repeat destinations (marked by a * ) and some are brand new to me. My 2006 Travel Goals (in no particular order): Los Angeles, CA* San Francisco,Ca Austin, TX (jetBlue starts flying there soon, and got some points I can use!) Colorado Chicago Europe Boston* And maybe some suprises thrown in along the way. Where are some places you want to go in 2006?????

For some reason, I don't remember this DVD. Has anyone seen it? I remember a video called "Brotherhood" a while back, I wonder if this is the same, just on DVD? http://www.fire-police-ems.com/misc/db8799.shtml

I'm sure there are members of this forum that know much, much more on this issue. The fact is that Yonkers TL-71 is a 1998 American LaFrance Eagle. It has seen quite a bit of heavy work in it's time, including many rescues and master stream ops. In addition, I would think the reserve TL in the pool (77) is hurting after all these years serving in Yonkers. Replacing 71, and making the current 71 a spare or reassignment, would be quite a wise move in keeping the fleet healthy and dependable, which is critical when you have fires such as the one last night. Not to mention the fleet standardization factor, or the fact that the current ALF incarnation was young when YFD bought TL-71, and many new technological and safety enhancments have been made to the product since that purchase. It's good to see a city that cares about and subsequently funds their apparatus fleet approprietely. As far as the new Engines are concerned, I can't believe the HME Engines are almost 8 years old! I remember when they were delivered when I was working at Empress!

That's great news, thanks for posting! I really like Enterprise's service, so I try to use them exclusively when I rent cars. The GPS addition will be a HUGE assett when exploring new cities and buffing LA City! Can't wait to try it out!

Although this is not something we like to rehash, as many of us have quite sore wounds about this incident, Hollywood is Hollywood and America is America. Let's not forget about all the other national tragedies that have been exploited and/or romanticized by the film or television industry Pearl Harbor, WWII, Vietnam, etc. I like the notion that this film may inspire or make the public realize that there are times where ordinary citizens need to realize and step up and fight for this country. If our forefathers just sat back and watched things happen, or didn't fight for what they believed in, where would we be now? And although the industry loves and is driven by money and is very greedy, sometimes I like to think at the most basic level filmaking is an art and filmmakers have a story they want to tell.

Good luck to all involved in this round of hirings. Just remember, just because you passed the entry tests, have a interview, or even get hired, doesn't mean you have the job. It's just the beginning....it's up to you to earn-and keep- your spot. Get in shape-and that includes your mind. I MAY be writing "x635's Guide To Probie School" with 17 coauthors, which may be released in late February. Look for it on EMTBravo.com

Tragedy strikes a local PD yet again. Thoughts and prayers are with P.O. Frank Hennesey and family.
