Yep, hoax. There's now a big "Parco PI" advertisment overlaying this billboard in NY and LA, an ad for a show on court TV. Would have been so cool if this was actually real. Created quite a stir though. Now that's unique marketing!

Haven't had a chance to read this book after getting in from BN.com, but thumbed through it and it seemed really good and honest about the job. Looking foward to reading it.

Are Constructioon Workers Trying To Kill Us? http://www.fireemsalpha.com/node/50 It pisses me off, I see more and more dangerous construction sites and wonder if the local FD's know aboutt hem or even care. Sure, construction sites are dangerous, but they don't have to be, and we can take simple steps to keep ourselves safe if we ever have to respond just by knowing whats going on. Hey, and if you like this article, can you pass along the link to anyone who may be interested? We're trying to get the word out to the local area that FireEMSAlpha.com is up and running. We're also looking for writers if you're interested in sharing whatever knowledge you may have. . (Full Disclosure: The artice on FireEMSAlpha.com was written by me x635)

Thanks for the nice words. I enjoy sharing my photos with all of you. I found the "Dew Road" sign at the Connecticut DOT Sign Shop in Rocky Hill, CT- off I91 Exit 23. They make all the road and highway signage for CT State roads. I would guess it's a test or prototype sign thing? Don't forget, you can now follow along with my daily adventures and photos as I get them on my blog, www.x635.blogspot.com

Wow, it's been way over a year since I intially posted that a Pierce Arrow XT was coming to FDNY after hearing it from a very reliable source. http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=45...pierce+arrow+xt It's nice to see some photographic evidence amongst the other evidence I had seen. Can't wait to see it and get photos of it for the site!!

Did anybody see this video of a reporter attacked yesterday in San Diego? http://www.myfoxny.com/myfox/pages/News/De...TY&pageId=3.3.1 Even though the "investigative" reporters can be obnoxious and proviking, this attack was extremly viscous and crazy that they were so angry they did it on camera.

Found this on another forum.Schoolys Mountain NJ FD that runs 12" hose with a special wagon for it. I've heard of really large diameter hose in industrial applications, but never a regular FD. Talk about a portable water main. I wonder what they hook into to flow this. Check out the photos: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e127/koo...lysMountain.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e127/koo...ysMountain1.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e127/koo...1/Manifold1.jpg Anyone have any further info on this?

Congrats Elia on your appointment, you deserve it! Elia is a longtime and very supportive member of this site. If you need any advice at all about probie school, just send me a PM, I went through it myself last year. Good luck and best wishes!

I wasn't aiming for anything in particular, this was a trip for vacation, I shot what I came across, was very lucky and happy with the photos I was able to get. As for "Battalion 6, USAR 134", I have shot USAR 134, and with the exception of Engine 33, am much more interested in central and southern ops for my October trip. And BTW, I'm not an LA novice either. I know what I want to shoot, and have things lined up already

Photos from the L.A. Bliss trip, as described in previous blog entries, have been posted http://www.emtbravo.lunarpages.com/x635Photos/LABliss.html -OR- www.emtbravo.com Although it wasn't an official "buff trip", I sure got lucky with the shots I got. And I'm all ready and have a list for my next trip during the first week of October. My favorite shot it of the one of me swimming in the pool with the LA skyline in the background. Kris actually took that one, she actually took several of them.

Art, Your new car is awesome! I really like the new hardtop Mustangs, and the color is great. Best of luck with it! Just to note though, I'm a hardbred Dodgeman myself howver am thinking of a new car.

I love my Hartsdale guys way too much to leave them. So, my LAFD aspirations will be followed either: When I'm 46, and if LAFD has no age limit at that time -OR- If I win Mega-Millions, and buy a house in Beverly Hills. Then I can take all the guys in Hartsdale Fire with me!!!!! It is a great job, I do have to admit, though. But the job, it wouldn't be the same without all my brothers now.

Another blog enrtry made about our AWESOME day yesterday. We're having a GREAT time out here, and we had quite a full first day. The blog entry is short, and the writing barely sketches over how great the day was. We got a lot of good photos (and some crappy videos), so expect more photos to be posted when we arrive home (typing and web layout from a laptop is annoying). I'm LOVING LA as usual. BTW, when I get home, my new computer will be waiting for me. Here, read the blog entry: http://x635.blogspot.com LOL. The Jeep is OK, it definetly serves its purpose out here quite well, and the color suits me perfectly. It makes a great platform to shoot from as well. However, the top is a gi-normous pain in the butt to put down, and I'm dreading haccing to put it back up, and the turning radius on it sucks. Plus, nothing beats a Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with the 4.7 High Output engine. If I get anything new, it will be something more conservative and practical, such as a Honda Element or another VW Jetta.

AWESOME! Finally a month that satisfies me! Tarrytown's Ladder AND an LA County piece. THis month, I actually bought both releases, something I haven't done in awhile. These were Orlando's doings, so I'm riding the wave while it last. Can't wait to see some of the other projects he developed. Code 3's not the same, so I worry after that........... Anyway, 9AM just waking up here in LA and gotta to got, check blog for details

According to a recent article in the Journal News, the $500,000 cost of this new engine was supposed to be paid for with funds from the Hyatt Corp. redeveloping the Kings College property. Since that deal recently fell through, so did the funding for the engine. However, since the engine has already been ordered, the village will draw from its general fund to pay for the new E-94.

Just a reminder, the CLOSING DATE-DEADLINE for filing is next Tuesday, September 5th. That's ONE WEEK from TODAY! If you claim to be serious about wanting this job, your application should be in by now. By the way, the higher you score, the better chances you have of landing the job sooner. As for the CT thing, I'm not sure, but it can't be bad to get the practic.e

Firefighter Rielly just graduated from Probie School on July 6th. He was a brand new firefighter, and imagine very excited to be responding to this job, probaly one of his first, and the one that would ultimately take his life. From his past afffiliation with Stratford FD and his current with Ramsey FD, I would assume that he was quite into the job and this was a dream for him being appointed to the FDNY. What a tragedy that took him from us. He managed to survive Iraq, and this happens. This serves as another reminder of fate and how precious life is. This job isn't just a game, and here's yet another sad reminder. Although this may not happen often, here's a real LODD that should have us all thinking, thanking, and valuing our brothers just a little bit more. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and brothers. Rest in peace, Michael, and I hope your loved ones take peace in knowing you were doing what you loved.
