A very stupid movie, but I still really got some laughs out of it. Can't wait for the sequel.

I think in the south they'll deep fry anything. It seems most of these concotions get invented at the State Fairs. First the deep fried twinkie, and now this. Gross.

Check this out: http://www.topangafire.com/lacofd4896/ It's a site with a proposal for LA County FD to go to a 48/96 work schedule, and it's pretty comprehensive, and lists the pros and cons. I do think that is a LONG time to be at the station though, especially a busy house!

Yesterday, CBS announced that Bob Barker, host of 'The Price Is Right', will retire in June of 2007 after 50 years on TV, 35 of which as host of the show. He will be 83 years old when he retires. This is definetly an old school show that I'm so suprised is still on the air today. He, and his show, is a TV icon. I remember watching him as a kid, and when I was home sick from school. All the classic games and prizes and the vibe of the show really take you back to TV's yesteryears. According to CBS, they are looking for Bob's replacment.....the new host will have to know the details of over 80 different games. I wonder if they plan a renovation/update of the set? And I wonder if anyone will watch without Bob?

I too have the book Westchester County: Protect and Serve by Michael J. Lavin, Frank J. Donovan http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...738509518&itm=1 And it is AWESOME! A great and extensive look inside WCPD's history. A lot of fascinating stories and facts, not to mention the great photos, I highly reccomend this book.

LMAO! For those who aren't aware, this comment was referencing E-One, a fire apparatus manufacturer that constructs their products using aluminum, and was one of the first in the industry to do so.

Westchester Collectibles does a majority of it's business online. And that's how most people obtain their collectibles now.....the "brick and mortar" diecast and railroad shop is becoming a thing of the past. So there's no need for a large showroom with large overhead, when there's not a huge demand for it. BTW, If you notice lately, Westchester Collectibles has been focusing on releasing and selling die cast from the area.

Westchester County DOT just announced that you will be able to use your Metro-Card on the Bee-Line system effective April 1st, 2007. This certainly will be conveinent for many people, and may entice me more to use the Bee-Line system. [attachmentid=1472]

I saw this logo on the Dodge Durango I rented in Oregon a couple of weeks ago, and then again yesterday on Eastchester FD's new Yukons (http://www.emtbravo.com) [attachmentid=1470] My question is, are the even gas stations that are dispensing this ethanol blend now around here?

Today, I had the oppurtunity to go to the officials & press unveiling of the new "Air 2". Photos are posted, http://www.emtbravo.com Air 2 is awesome. It's a 2006 Bell 407. I'm sure Chris192 can elaborate more, but here are some of the features worth noting: -Has a "Bambi Bucket" for brush fires. -Has a winch/lift with harness and stokes -Camera able to transmit live video to off site locations, such as County PD headquarters and EOC. -Infared Tracking Camera -A very large spotlight -Ability to transport a patient in stokes, if needed -Up to 4 members can repel off repellling bar at once (two on each side) -Pilots have nightvision goggles -Cargo hook -Extensive inter-agency communications capability -Detailed interactive mapping and navigation system And a whole bunch of other state of the art technology. This is a really great asset for Westchester County in this day and age, and I'm sure it's going to make an impact on emergency operations. Thanks to members of the WCPD for helping me to get some great shots and explaining the different features.

Apparently, Syosset FD has disbanded their technical rescue team, and is selling their 2001 Spartan/Saulsbury Technical Rescue fully loaded with technical rescue equipment, 1 owner, only 2500 miles. Also comes with a 1999 Freightliner tandem axle moving van fully loaded with lumber and support equipment, only one owner on that with 1400 miles. All this can be yours for only $475,000 http://www.adirondackfire.com/2001spartan.htm This seems like an incredible deal. You can basically buy everything you need to start a technical rescue team. BTW, does anyone have the dirt on why Syosset disbanded their team? I looked it up on Nassau FD rant, and apparently according to that source it was due to a lack of manpower and a key member of the team moving away, and the department needing cash. But that seems to simple for a department to unload such valuable and new tech rescue equipment. Thanks to FP310 for the heads up on this.

Yesterday, HFD23 gave me a heads up about this interesting photo op behind California Pizza Kitchen on Central Ave. in Greenburgh (Greenville Fire District, Archway Shopping Center) [attachmentid=1460] [attachmentid=1461] A constrcution company has been trying to shore up that rock wall that's only a few feet behind the resturant.....it's been ongoing since the spring. Anyways, just figured someone might like to see some shoring photos. If you have an idea for an article that you want to write for FireEMSAlpha.com based on these photos, please email me.

One of the questions I'm asked the most about my photos is "what are you shooting with?" I wrote and posted photos of my cameras this morning on my blog, inlcuding my brand new Canon Powershot Digital Elph SD600. http://x635.blogspot.com/2006/10/x635s-cam...w-addition.html

Is anyone watching "Heroes" on Monday nights on NBC? Such a great show! I don't watch a lot of television (most of my time is spent working on the internet when at home) but Kristen got me hooked on this show. It's my new favorite show actually. Each episode it keeps getting better and better, and I love the suspense and the way the charecters are intertwined. There's not many shows I look foward too, but even with Tivo, this has me tuned into my TV every Monday night. It's a hard show to get into if you haven't been watching from the begining though.

Have you ever seen the commercial for the Infinti with the keyless, push-button ignition? They comment how you don't need a key for the car. I was wondering, if you don't need a key, and the car starts with a push of a button, then what prevents it from being easily stolen? I was going to ask how this is accomplished, but then I found this article: http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/audio/art...51/article.html Basically, the driver has a key fob in their pocket or purse, and the car senses that and allows the engine to start. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I saw the show the other night, and it was very interesting. They encountered a lot of hazmat during excavation due to old asbestos covered jet fuel pipes buried and unused since the '50s. It only gave a look at the beggining of the project through the steelwork, and kind of glanced over everything breifly, but still very interesting. jetBlue seems to have some great and innovative concepts for this terminal....coupled with the fact they're incorporating the old TWA terminal, this is one construction project I can't wait to be finsihed and be using !

A reminder- November 3rd is NEXT FRIDAY! If you want a job as a firefighter, this is a good place to start working on that goal!
