WEMS first call in North White Plains as 37-M-1 (Photo submitted by EMTBravo member)
-
*SPY SHOT* North White Plains will be taking delivery of a 1998 Freightliner/Saulsbury medium duty rescue that previously saw service in Centereach NY in the next week to replace the former Rescue 33, which has been disposed of. Stay tuned to EMTBravo for photos of the new Rescue 33. Only has 14,000 miles. Some features (shown in the video below) include a 10KW Hydraulic Generator, hydraulic and electric cord reels, pull out equipment trays, (4) 500 Watt Mounted Lights, a 12,000 pound winch, and a heavy duty trailer hitch to tow the Air/Cascade trailer. A walk around video showing the features is below the photo. (Photo credit: Red Truck Sales)

Yeah, I have the facts, as members that actually contribute to this thread in a positive fashion have posted. Try reading the thread before you reply to it. I know you SAY you're not coming back, but I felt "obligated" to reply to this. You could have just added the information you had. Many people, including myself, have no idea that Transcare in Putnam is a different company then in Westchester until @nyemtgirl's post. Additionally, Transcare ITSELF has issued a letter that they are shutting down operations, yet have formed a different company to operate some divisions. Which I have no idea how that works in business lingo. And I also clearly stated some information could be incorrect as all this is currently breaking.

I hope FDNY*EMS uses it's resources to develop an EMS Prevention program one day. Shouldn't supervisors be able to operate as flycars anyways, or is this just a change in policy allowing supervisors to act as a flycar? Are these the "Conditions" cars?

Anybody using Windows 10 yet? How do you like it? I was offered one, but I hate that the screen is so small (my current laptop, a Lenovo G series which I love, has a 17" screen.) Do they make the Surface with a larger screen?

And I think they should have went that route. The Spartan Furion, if it was still around, would have been perfect. Maybe even one of these new Kenworth or Ford cab forward trucks.

Local municipalities need to decide what equipment is right for them. For Con Ed to take on a project of obtaining meters, distributing them, training people, and providing ongoing maintenance and support would be a huge undertaking. It does have it's benefits, one being everyone is on the same level with the same device (which can be a double edged sword). I do believe the best way for this is for Con Ed to issue grants to departments to fund natural gas metering devices, and the research into better devices more suited for the fire services needs. Everybody's call volume has literally, and excuse the pun, exploded with gas investigations. A lot of this has to do with Con Ed, and whatever you want to label as the reason for these calls.....aging infrastructure, extreme precaution, constant construction, poor code enforcement, whatever. But it is their system we are responding to, and assisting, on a daily basis, something they are paid to maintain.

@27east Yup, that's it. They only had one Mack Dump/Plow, a crew truck, and a Payloader for loading salt, with a very beaten up looking garage, and a small construction trailer which I assume is used to house guys waiting for a storm. I don't know about contractors, but I can only assume they use that one truck for a stretch of 27.

Something that strikes me is very few EMS agencies in the area have turnout gear issued to each member, including a helmet and googles. These aren't only good for pin jobs, but fire scenes, WMD and HazMat jobs, people in the woods, abandoned buildings, tech rescues, etc. We all get by on that old, non fitting, non compliant gear thrown in a compartment. But there is gear made for EMS, without the bulky structural firefighting stuff since it isn't need, making it much more lightweight. Is there some sort of mandate that could be made countywide that all EMS Agencies must have EMS style turnout gear? But I figure if it was a county or state mandate, it would be unfunded. I know a lot of EMS Agencies are revolving doors, and that would cause an issue. My next question on this issue...if an EMT or Paramedic need to get into a heavily damaged vehicle to treat a patient, do we let them without any sort of PPE? My opinion...we don't have an option in that situation.
