OK, so as most of you know, my camera comes EVERYWHERE with me, and therefore documents everything I see that interests me. So, of that comes this: http://x635.blogspot.com/2006/12/urinal-butterflies.html

Thanks for the updates, Steve. 2007 is shaping up already to be an exciting apparatus year, with the year kicking off with Yonkers new Recue being delivered, and hopefully ending with a new Engine 170!! I'm just sad that members from these departments can't share this info with it, as it's already public info. I'm just curious, why don't people share exciting news like this with the forum?

Another thing I picked up off this month's First Responder Newspaper is New Hackensack's new Mack Tanker (well, actually Frankie told me about that) and Wassaic's Ford C Tanker. Is there anyone on this forum who can assist me with getting photos of these two pieces of apparatus?? Hopefully, I will be coming up to Dutchess soon to get Poughkeepsies new Engines (I hope!) and would like to photograph these two pieces for this site and my x635Photos.com- maybe even this week. If anyone who could help me get these photos, contact me either via email at x635@EMTBravo.com or PM me.

I have both the Uniden and ARC/Butel software. I'm still figuring out how to put a frequency in......it's very intimidating. If you could send me the profiles Izzy, I'm sure I can figure out how to input them.

Nobody in North White Plains has a digital camera, or can invite an x635 over? :-(

Proud Member of Class 03-05, 37 of us, whom I miss a great deal working with! I can't believe we graduated almost 1 year ago! Boy, how time flies! Soon I'll be as old but maybe not as wise as Homer J. [attachmentid=1714]

Many people ask me why I love Chiptole so much? NO, not the spice or pepper, the BURRITO JOINT chain! Here's a primer: http://x635.blogspot.com/2006/12/first-time-to-chipotle.html

Rye's new Utility 49, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, shot yesterday at Westchester Medical Center. Members of the Rye FD Local were there to show their support for the new Childrens Hospital "Mini Firehouse". Rye Firefighters have raised thousands of dollars for the childrens hospital since becoming involved in 2000, and their 16 man local has also spent numerous hours there with the children. Were you the videographer for the news, lol!?! BTW, thanks to all for the input!

The butterflie was in the exact same spot on every urinal, and I even double checked another bathroom. Since I have a severe bladder disease, I spend a lot of time at urinals in all different kinds of places, so this is something that interests me. I will be installing one in my next home as well. AND, by the way, I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it

Check this hydrant out, on the Westchester Medical Center propery. Could be kind of hard to find, especialy in the winter as low as it sits, behind parked cars. Although I'm sure Hawthorne, Valhalla, and the GFB know where it is, if this was an actual fire, it would probaly require a massive amount of manpower that maybe didn't know clearly where it was. Happy Birthday to Journal News and Westchester/Putnam photography legend Frank Becerra Jr, also an active EMTBravo member! 1 year to the big 5-0 Frank! I know many of us, who still occasionally browse through the Journal News, enjoy seeing your photos of Westchester and Putnam Fire,EMS, and PD in action. And the occasional deer or duck, lol! It's too bad the Journal News doesn't publish as many as they used to. It seems they are more interested in "human interest" photos nowadays. Again, Happy B-day A shout out also goes to antiquefirelt, who shares Franks birthday, and is also approaching a b-day with a 0 in it

There is a lot of urinal technolgy going on at JFK! The jetBlue terminals have TV's at the Urinals!!

My curiousity is if that you are operating the apparatus in an appropriate matter, and the citizens follows the law by going through the next intersection and gets hit, then how can we be held responsible if that is what the law says you are supposed to do. Granted, I know there will be people after money no matter what, but if you are operating the vehicle in a proper manner, and the citizen tries to do the right thing, yet gets struck, I would imagine the only truley liable person would be the person who hit the person who went through the light. I think many of us, especially those who have worked in urban areas, have experienced the "pushing" people through an intersection situation many times. Of course though, most use it as an excuse to blow the red light. At a busy intersection, that it would be unsafe to push traffic through, I sometimes just turn off my siren and wait a few second till traffic clears.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the official unveiling for the WMC Childrens Hospitals "Mini Firehouse", located in the Heroes wing. This room is mostly known for the firetruck cab, made possible by the Tegtmeir Foundation and Ray Nichols. This actual E-One engine cab is fully wheelchair accesible, and has working lights. The children of the hospital love it. A while ago, two forces, Jim and Gina Arena, and the Greenburgh Uniformed Firefighters Assocaciation Local 1586 (The Firefighters of Hartsdale, Fairview, and Greenville) decided to kick up the room a notch. Jim and Gina Arena, who are parents that had a sick child that spent many hours in that fire engine, among other things, collected helmet shields from each department in the county and got them hung up in the room. The Greenburgh Uniformed Firefighters Association IAFF Local 1586, of which I'm a proud member of, led by Vice President and Hartsdale FD Group 3 Firefighter Chip Nanko, raised the funds (with some help from the brothers in Rye), coordinated the effort, and worked with a muralist to make the room look like a realistic firehouse. The muralist, Lisa Samalin ( http://www.deerstooth.com/ ) did EXCELLENT work!!! The room looks colorful, cheery, and like an actual firehouse. I liked many of the details, since they're generically replicated from my department's Station 1. I also loved the mural of the turnout gear for Jimmy Boy, which signified a lot about this room for me. Hartsdale Group 1 firefighter and GUFA Trustee John O'Reilly scratch-built a wooden childrens table with a maltese cross inlay. It's a beautiful addition to the room, as we all know every firehouse needs a kitchen table. Jim and Gina Arena signify what this room is all about, and their spirit brings a lot of life and hope into this hospital and room. The Farreris made this hospital happen. The Tegtmeirs started this room off. It's times like this where I'm proud to be a member of IAFF Local 1586....the men who lead this union truly look out for the best for both their men and their community. Thanks Chip and all GUFA members. In closing, the photos do not do this room justice. It is BEAUTIFUL, amazingly detailed, and something that will bring some relief to suffering children. You have to see it for yourself. I'm sorry if I'm forgetting anyone, but this is just what came to mind. I hope I did an OK job with the photos....it was hard to get everything as one with all the people floating around. Here are the photos: http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails.php?album=75 Addendum: .

I believe a firefighter should have to get certified in his skills, and every couple of years have to receritfy in that procdure or get remedial training. Just like EMS has to.

I agree with you Kingsixx, I have worked with opposite you when you were a PO and I was an EMT, so I know you and your frusterations, and I know how much you love being a cop and want just what is best for the system and the people we serve. Many of those show disrespect, and ignorance. I wonder how those guys would feel if a cop told them that they didn't need that particular firetruck? They'd be pretty pissed off to- "What does that cop know about firetrucks" My point was to take this oppurtunity to educate to those members WHY you need those cars, or why you don't. I still don't feel they are "dictating", more offering their opinions, as wrong or off base as they may be- but they are there opinions and you have the chance here to sway them. Many of our younger members don't realize when to open their mouths and when to close it and listen. This is a forum to LEARN and share information. Whether their opinion is posted here, they're also probaly saying it on the street. Set the record straight here....educate.....thats why this forum exists. I absolutely agree some poeple speak without having a clue, or the experience to speak about this issue their on. I hope you understand what I'm getting at, I'm tired and incoherent right now, just got back from picking my sister up at JFK after her flight was delayed two hours.

To add, I recieved some additional information this evening informing me of the following: . So a great thanks also goes out to Rye FD in making this room possible as well!!!

As I mentioned in my thread about the new Childrens Hospital ( http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=15094 See this thread for more information and photos ), there were some awesome and highly detailed murals on these walls inspired by Hartsdale FD Station 1, which the artist visited for inspiration. Here's our Engine 170 [attachmentid=1703] And here's the Engine 170 mural? This view is looking out the back of Hartsdale Fire Station 1, through the kitchen window. See 2173 sitting there? [attachmentid=1704] Notice any differences? One is lime, and one is SOLID RED....no white over red or any other cruddy paint scheme. See how good it looks solid red with a blue stripe? Hint, hint, cough, cough if anybody on here is thinking that a change from lime would also be good.

Well, I'm out of time to share the rest of my favorite photos from today, which would basically be all of them- so check them out at x635Photos.com http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails.php?album=75 Each and every photo has a story behind it.

Here's a childrens table, with a Maltese Cross inlay, made by Hartsdale Group 1 Firefighter John O'Reilly, a very skilled carpenter. [attachmentid=1709] Please note that no real firehouse kitchen uses Ragu (with the exception of some liberal roofer), as pictured on the kitchen counter.

Of course, as mentioned in the other thread, a red Engine 170 [attachmentid=1708]
