The lens would be PERFECT. I don't really use any other lens. It's a great "walkaround" lens. You have the wide angle, and an impressive zoom all in one lens that's built specifically for digital camera. I'll have my 18-200 for sale in a few weeks, after I upgrade to the new Tamron Di=II 18-250 lens. I'm assuming she's using the Canon 18-55 which came with the camera? Also, getting back onto topic the camera armor will be ordered next week and I'll be posting a review as soon as I can, even though I can't use my camera right now.

Thanks guys. I currently use a Dell Inspiron 4150 Laptop and a Dell XPS, both run Windows XP. I love them and I need a PC for what I do. I'm considering the Macbook just for fun, to try a new computer and OS, and take advantage of some of the software Apple has to offer. If I don't like it, I''ll switch back. I can't spend much time on the computer lately, but I figured since I have a credit, I could use it to experiment with a new computer. Has anybody bought from MacMall.com?

Just wonder what happened to Stat-Flight Ground after their takeover by Air Methods/Lifenet??? I know they used to use two Wheeled Coache Type III's operate by Metro/Transcare and staffed by Statflight staff for ground critical care and neonatal transports, but I haven't them recently. Also, do they still wear the red Stat Flight jumpsuits?

It's my understanding, never having been and always wanting to go, that the FDNY Shops in Long Island City are old and cramped. Does anyone know if plans are in the works to build a more modern shops? And does FDNY have a "junkyard" or storage yard? Also, where are the ambulances maintained? At the old NYC*EMS facility in Queens? Anyone who has any photos of the shops, I'd love to see them. Still though, being a regular at the LAFD and LACoFD shops, those are still the most impressive to me. I'd have to imagine the FDNY shops are just as much.

Wow. That failure is quite dramatic, judging by the photo in the Herald Online. It'll be interesting to see what the investigation reveals, E-One's response, and if it will affect Boston's apparatus purchasing or replacement plan. I know those aerials, especially 15's, get a lot of use.

I have been working with Circuit City Corp to promote this program. I strongly encourage EVERY person to submit entries in this contest. I have spoken Circuit City Corp., and they feel very strongly about this situation, and although it's also being used as a promotion for their FireDog service, they truly want to help the fire service community. We know this, but a lot of America does not.

Need photos of this new International! Do we know the manufacturer of the module? Also, what markings will it carry?
-
Thanks for all the info, guys. I knew I was forgetting a few. Still hunting NYS DOT new Mack and Internation photos, now I have a few more yards on my list to stalk.

America forgets quickly. jetBlue will come out even stronger from this current situation. The airline's customer service and in-flight comfort is superior to any other airline out there now. Although jetBlue is in the same Low Cost Carrier class as AirTran, it's like comparing apples and oranges. jetBlue is getting a lot of bad press from this, but I know that they will recover and there's thousands of loyal jetBlue fans just like me who will as well. As for the being stuck on the plane for hours part, that's just unacceptable. And I'm proud that jetBlue is taking responsibilty for what happened.

I like this idea. I voted for the Yonkers Poplar Street job, just because I want to see how the department looked 12 years ago as compared to now. I hope OTJNY will do a "Best Of" retrospective as well, hint hint

Thanks for the information and giving us the real deal, Doug. Now with reports of Ford dropping the Diesel, and many other agencies facing similar problems with the E-series chasis that led you to a medium duty chasis, I think we will start seeing a lot more converts to this type of chasis. The one complaint I've heard about these ambulance is the ride. But I've heard if you put the proper suspension in, the ride is fine. Plus, in every ambulance I've ever worked in, someone's complain about the ride, whether it's a Type II van etc. I did howeber ride several times in one agencies Freightliners/Hortons, and the ride was horrible....but those ambulances were several years behind in suspension and Horton technolgy. The other complaint I hear about these ambulances is that for more urban use, they are too big and not as manuverable. They don't fit down small driveways or alleyways. But, as Doug said, they aren't much bigger then some of the E-Series ambulances coming out. And, the turning radius, electrical, heating/AC, and braking power is much better then E-series. However, the Frazer built ambulance on a Ford F-Super duty chasis will always be my favorite.

Now that makes sense. But, it's a stupid move, IMO. I bet GM lost a lost of Suburban sales when they dropped the diesel from it. And a lot of Police Car sales when they dropped the Caprice. Now that Ford is reportedly dropping the Diesel from the Econoline, I wonder how this will change the ambulance industry? Will Chevrolet continue to have a diesel van chasis? And what will happen to the van ambulance? I can't imagine some companies with all diesel fleets switching to gas engines.

Thanks grumpyff and all!! I can't wait to get back to my camera and photo hunts, I've had plenty of time to plan and think!

I hope someone will send in some shots of the rescue posed to EMTBravo. What will be the disposition of the current E-134?
-
EMTBravo Member houlidsa advises that it is Greenville, Greene County NY. North west of Catskill NY just below the Albany Co. border.
-
It would be quite the nice suprise if it was Greenville. GFD358 can you confirm? By the way, Greenville is a fire district within the unincorpoated Edgemont section of the Town Of Greenburgh. The area has a mailing address of Scarsdale only. And Mount Kisco's Mack, sad to see another beautiful CF leave the county.

Congrats to EMTBravo member #4, DES630, on his recent promotion to Lieutenant at 60 Control. Ricky will be at the helm of Group 3 starting tommorow. Congrats and best of luck in your new position!

Recently, Ardsley PD recieved a brand new 2007 Dodge Charger, equipped by Stiloskis new Emergency Vehicle dvivison. It features a brand new paint scheme, with hand painted details (such as the famous Ardsley patch- which my father helped design in the '70s) . I've only seen photos of this car in the process of being painted, but I imagine the completed product is awesome! It's my understanding that this car will replace APD 98, and the current 98 will be transferred over to Ardsley FD and assigned to Car 2013. If anyone has a good shot of this car completed, please post! I'm adding the new Ardsley Car 98 to my "incentive to recover as fast as possible" list. It seems as of late there's tons of things I've added to my photo want (to shoot myself) list.

Ask and you shall recieve. Still can't wait to shoot it myself though. [attachmentid=1963] (Photo by Stiltow) Thanks to Stiloski's for sharing what is one of this year's hottest new police car deliveries. Special thanks to Stiloski's for sharing what is one of this year's hottest new police car deliveries. This vehicle was equipped by Stiloski's new Emergency Vehicle Division, and features a Sound-Off lights and siren package. Also other custom details by Stiloskis, such as a console instal, custom paint job, l and a hand painted Ardsley PD patch on the door (When my father was an officer with APD, he helped to design the now famous patch) Check out MORE PHOTOS of Ardsley PD's new Car 98: http://www.emtbravophotos.com/SpyShots/ArdsleyPDCar98.html Very impressive!l I have to post some photos of my father with the old Car 98 when he was assigned to it, whatever it was, in the late 70's.

Just recieved my copy. Even though it's a bit pricey, it's got some nice and unique, up close photos. It also adds nicely to my book collection.

On Febuary 5th, the members of LA City Battalion 14 responded to a Major Emergency Trench Rescue. The incident is detailed here, with photos http://battalion14.blogspot.com/2007/02/ma...nch-rescue.html As they always do, they sit down and critique their incidents afterwards, and come up with "Lessons Learned". That information is then published so that all can learn from the incident. They do this with fires, auto accidents, etc and this is what make the LAFD Battalion 14 Blog one of my favorites.

These photo op's I'm missing are torturing me! Hopefully when I'm better I can come up and shoot it. I'm also curious as to what company it will be assigned to? I rememeber this piece being in beautiful condition when it was replaced in 2005 before going over the BDPW. It's a 1979 International, refurbished (with a new tank added) by WildFire in the late 1990's.

Wow, I can't see that being true. Maybe it's just AEV that's ending production on Ford chasis? The Econoline is one of Ford's "rocks", a mainstay of their brand and the chasis has many loyal users. Like the Ford Crown Victoria and Ford Expedition, numerous agencies and companies depend on those vehicles. I remember hearing a while ago Ford wanted to replace the Econoline with a "European" type van, meaning something like a Dodge Sprinter. The concept name was "Ford Transit" The last "freshesning" of the Econoline was when they went with the new grill design and engine (2004?) which I still think looks pretty good. It's still listed with Ford in their 2007 lineup, but I wonder how long the current Econoline willl last https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/2007fle...-eseriescut.asp

Peapod! Yesterday, Kris and I decided to try the online grocery delivery service, Peapod. Peaapod, along with Stop and Shop, allows you to shop for groceries online, including deli and bakery items. . Anything they have in the store, they have online. Prices are the same as in store, and you can use coupons and the many Peapod special offers. We got 15% off our first order The site is very easy to navigate and use. The products are very high quality-same as in the store, and delivered in trucks designed to keep the products at the proper tempature. They are the same products you'd find in your local Stop & Shop, but they come from a special Peapod delivery depot Among it's many features is it allows you to keep a grocery list during the week, and then automatically place an order. It allows you to organize the store in a variety of ways, such as based on your diet. Other features allow you to view nutritional information, and compare products. There is also a "Reorder" section so you can quickly reorder the products you commonly use. You can schedule a delivery for anytime you want, and they bring the bags right into your kitchen. The delivery fee is very reasonable, $9.95 for purchases under $100, and $6.95 for purchases over $100. Our order was delivered within the timeframe promised, all items that we ordered were there, the produce waas very fresh and looked good, and most importantly, the driver was courteous and freindly. I highly reccomend trying Peapod for your grocery shopping. Especially with me being immobile right now, it's a great way to shop for groceries without having to go to the grocery store, go up and down the aisles and play BattleCarts, wait on lines, and schlep the groceries to your car and then into your house. Peapod- Easy, Convienent, Competitevly priced, very low delivery fee...it rocks! Definetly try it out once. http://www.peapod.com
