Many of you are familiar with my "Walker 170" that I posteed last week. http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails.php?album=136 My quad cane, which I use to get around my house, I had a friend paint to match. I did some of the striping. Check it out here: http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails.php?album=136 [attachmentid=2376] [attachmentid=2377]

Well, since I'm trying to make the swtich to a quad cane, which isn't as easy as I thought it would be, I'll have the walker for a bit longer. So, I decided after I while joking about it, that I would pimp it out. Ladies and gentleman, I present you with the new "Walker 170". In glorious lime with blue striping, and two functioning EMTBravo.com Garrity LifeLite Headlights. The best part, it's still a functional walker, but now with extra light at nightime. It's quite hystrical. Special thanks to the friends that helped me out with this, especially since I could tolerate only a little of this before retreating to my heating pad. [attachmentid=2349] [attachmentid=2350] Also, special thanks to Rust-oleum for making Painters Touch Key Lime spraypaint color. Matches my work apparatus exactly.

Here's a shot I got in December. What's with this depot, on Route 22 in Putnam just north of I-684? Only two trucks? And that really, really old looking structure? Cool photo though with the a new Mack and new International in the photo. [attachmentid=2300]

Actually, I'm completly serious and I don't think it's a ridiculous idea. Sure, a plane could crash anywhere. I was just giving me OPINION that the Westchester County Airport should AT LEAST have DEDICATED staffing for the crash rigs, and not have to rely on cross trained gate control agents/airport managers for the staffing. You're right in saying that it could happen anywhere. But are the mutual aid companies in the plan all trained or required to be trained in aircraft emergencies? And what capabilities to they have to extinguish a fire? During a weekday, how are they going to help evacuate a 150 person aircraft? I think that crosstraining the County Police officers is the way to go, like the Port Authority. It can be done, if the County PD has all these other specialized division they certainly could have an airport decision.,

Budgeting can be quite a complicated task. I've always wondered, even as a volunteer in the past, how do volunteer Chiefs and officers learn how to prepare a budget to present to their muncipality? Is it just knowledge that's passed down? Do ex-cheifs familiar with the process help the current chief? Are their budgeting classes offered? Is an accountant brought it? Budgeting is important, and an efficient, well written one can do wonders for your department. Is it more than just "we'll buy this and do this"?

WOW! Awesome pics, thanks Tim for sharing! What was that huge yellow truck in the background?

I haven't read all the posts.....but the Town Of Mount Pleasant can have a single ALS provider, a single Police Department, and a single DPW. Why can't Fire and EMS be consolidated, and add paid staff during the daytime? Eastchester FD and EMS cover three muncipalites, with paid staff. The problems are quite apparent on 46.26. It's not fair to the public.

Anyone willing to escort x635 to this?

From Firehouse.com: [attachmentid=2348] William Carey, Photo Truck 9 (Bladensburg) had to negotiate the landscaping for apparatus positioning. Link to story: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...nId=45&id=54004 I'm just curious to see what the members here think. Is this aerial aggresively AND safely positioned, and doing what it needs to do, or is the placement a little to aggresive. If you think that this is right (I'm still undecided and don't have all the facts or photos), how come you do not see this in this area?

Another topic got me thinking. I read in this month's Fire Apparatus Journal that FDNY is preparing spec's for a bid of Haz-Tac EMS ambulances. I wonder what is going to be different about these buses? Obviously, there's going to be more room to carry gear, but I wonder if the chasis will be any different.....it can be done on the F-Super Duty, of course- but I wonder if a Freightliner, GMC, or International Medium Duty chasis will be spec'd?

AWESOME Work Steve! Another great piece!

I remember those! Not like I'd EVER shop Galls with their ridiculous markups, but these items would work really well on a walker, despite the fact they are meant for police bicycles. Has anyone seen the COPS episodes featuring this guy? They are my favorite episodes because of him. I wish they would ride with him again. He is to Police what Frankie or T-Mac is to firefighting. From WikiPedia.org Some of my other favorite COPS episodes is where they pursue the suspect into a lake (this season) in Brevard County, FL, the America's Most Wanted crossover episode where John Walsh rode along and actually capture a AMW person, and the on featuring Jersey City PD Offcier Rick "JCPDESU" Garrison when he was a patrol officer and investigated a guy locked in a container. Oh, and who could not loveTased and Confused - All perpetrators were apprehended with the use of a TASER (electronic stunning device) at the time of arrest. Just last week, I saw COPS had some new footage from Boston. That's awesome, because it seems a majority of their footage was coming from Florida and Palm Springs, CA lately. I like the episodes in diverse, interesting cities such as when they filmed in Maui.

Except for the trashy striping, it's too bad I don't need a limo for my wedding!
-
New episodes are usually shown Saturday nights at 20:00hrs on Channel 5, Fox, with a repeat from the previous season showing after at 2030 Of course, Cops repeats are shown on Channel 5, Channel 9, Court TV, G4, etc etc. Court TV has been showing a nice mix of episodes recently. I'm waiting to Tivo-to-DVD "Jersey Cop" And Rick's (JCPDESU) been on twice lately.

I must add, these are the apparatus that the color scheme is based on: [attachmentid=2351] [attachmentid=2352]

Maybe it's just me, but this is really not something 2nd Graders should be learning. I wonder what else goes on in Vahalla Schools. LoHud.com, Thanks for the laugh. It sure don't look like a horn to me!

Anyone know/hear what type of car he was driving?

In today's Journal News, they are reporting a new local new station, "The Hudson Valleys NewsCenter NOW", LIVE from 5PM to 7PM, startting TOMMOROW. It will be a team up between RNN-TV and LoHud.com (The Journal News). They will broadcast from their new studios in Rye Brook, in the old Phillip Morris building. News12's now got some competition in the mix. The new NewsCenter Now hybrid combination promises a fast pace and a synergy with the Journal News newspaper. Doesn't say if Cablevision will have it, but I'd imaging they would have to- since they already carry RNN and it is a broadcast station. It will be simulcasted on the web. Also, I heard that Verizon FiOs was also a force behind this, even though it was just a rumor. Their news team seems to be a mixture of seasoned new people from the area, including NYC. Christina Lauri from News 12, and Stacy Ann Gooden from Chanel 5's Good Day NY make up part of the anchor team. Seems like some people from behind the scenes at News 12 have also made the switch. The new set is supposed to be real sharp, a mixture of blues and greys with photos from the Hudson Valley. Veiwership is estimated at 5 million. I wonder now if News 12 will get rid of that ugly, boring, played out set and graphics. NewsCenter NOW: Westchester: Channel 19 (North) Westchester: Channel 6 (South) Putnam: Channel 20 Rockland: Channel 19

Red? Why does everybody have to go red nowadays? What's wrong with being different? Norwalk's current scheme could use some updating, but I found the white to be unique and a change.

My fiance, x635Kris on this forum, mentioned in the Journal News yesterday:
-
Well, I could only tolerate a few minutes of this newscast. I'll give it another chance tonight for a little bit longer. I guess we'll see what happens and how they'll grow. The only thing I'm hoping for out of this is for News 12 to get a new set and graphics.

Has anyone noticed how slow Cablevision's internet has been lately? It seems like it's even slower during peak times. As I've heard, their network capacity is maxed out, and they don't have enough nodes. Tommorow, they are installing Verizon FiOs in my home. Maybe I will try their internet as discussed in the other thread.
-
This week, Verizon is installing FiOs in my building. I have two concerns with this. First, will FiOs be compatible with my Series II Tivo box? And I want to try FiOs, but feel like I should wait until the kinks are worked out and find out if it really is better. Do you get more channels? Is the internet really that much faster? Does anyone have FiOs yet, and is it better/worse the Cablevision?
