  1. Montgomery County has most recently been using Pierce, with several deliveries of Engines, Tower Laders, and Tillers.
  2. OK, I have some more: Elmsford Quad 2, 19?? International/Oren (post-refurb-not sure of the original chasis) comes down Heatherdell Rd. at the Ardsley FD Centential/WCVFA Parade in 1996. After Quad 2 was replaced by Ladder 55, it briefly served Westchester County Fire Training Center, and after that Elmsford Water Department. I assume it has been disposed of since. The inscription on the hood reads "Work Horse". [attachmentid=2878]
  3. I'm curious....what ever happened to the old (PRE 1996 ERGER) NYC*EMS headquarters in Maspeth, Queens? Have never even been to Maspeth, so have no idea about what this facilty was.
  4. As tbendick mentioned, it's the small vehicles shops. My investigation has revealed the building has seen better days. It's in a very industrial part of Maspeth. Not only does it contain the light veshops, but two secured storage yards. One across the street holds new deliveries, mostly ambulances. The other yard, which is ajacent to the facilty and has a for sale sign for the property, contains all types of FDNY vehicles. For example, ambulances and fire apparatus they are disposing of, FDNY excavation equipment, special services units, and various other trucks and vehicles that make up the "hidden" fleet. FDNY definetly needs and deserves a new, modern, and central fleet compound, like the LA City shops. I'm sure the city could find the property.
  5. What the status of this? Has it been restored? It's an awesome piece to have, not many EMS agencies embrace the past. http://www.putnamvalleyambulance.org/caddy62.htm
  6. A very cool idea, especially for districts with tight roads and driveways..... http://battalion14.blogspot.com/2007/06/ho...-its-worth.html
  7. Looks like Poughkeepsie's new Public Safety facility is almost ready to go: [attachmentid=2857] http://x635photos.com/displayimage.php?pos=-953 What will be housed here? FD, PD, and 911? And what FD apparatus wise? And what will happen to Station 2 across the street?: [attachmentid=2858] http://x635photos.com/displayimage.php?pos=-952
  8. So it's come to this with the prices........ Although it is weird that the woman didn't report it right away, even if she was "shaken up"
  9. Absolutely disgusting! Hope they find these thugs.
  10. I absolutely agree this happens, and it's not right. BUT....the whole low bid sytem needs to be overhauled, because you do get what you pay for. But, the specs being written by dealers needs to end, and utilization of objective "apparatus architects" who can design the best apparatus for the department and make it so a few different manufacturers can bid needs to be a standard practice. Also, fleet standardization is also a consideration.
  11. I'm also looking foward to this new movie. I have loved his previous films, I watched them with an open mind, and they are really pretty enlightening. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I feel he's given a bad rap for no good reason.
  12. Verplank's lives on! I would guess it's a new paint job, since Verplank's is a little more subdued. Los Angeles County FD had snorkles. In fact, if you watch Season Three, Epsidode 2 "The Old Engine", you will see it being used in a 70's style F.A.S.T. operation. Memphis FD (I think) just got a Pierce rescue truck with a brand new Snorklel on it.
  13. Looks like Gowans Knight finished the twin to Engine 1 http://www.gowansknight.com/Poughkeepsiepage2.htm Where is Engine 3 located?
  14. I NEVER listen to FM radio anymore ,mostly since K-Rock 92.3 went to the "Free FM" format and I went to Sirius Octane channel 20. As I predicted, "Free FM" was a massive failure, and I found this exciting news on Wikipedia: New York needs a rock station, and now it's back!
  15. Thanks Reliance1. Here's the text from that Ford CANANADA announcment: Wonder if this is applicable to the US vehicles, with different emissions standards?
  16. Ah. I should have known from the giant blue bird graphic on the roof above the drivers window! Thanks!
  17. June Release. Boston E-One, same as last two just a different company. http://www.fireengines.net/articles/boston30/index.html
  18. The FDNY Ladder 30 photo that appeared on that site was one taken by Joe Pinto. I can't seem to find it. As for the Boston release, another dud repaint. Where's that ALF Tiller that we were promised? The company seems to be doing as little as they can these days.

  20. 2007 Seagrave Rescue for Bellmawr Fire Co. in Camden County, NJ. New delivery, and it's enormous! I like it. http://www.phillyfirenews.com/photogallery...ge.php?pos=-395 Click on the image at the above page for the full size version.
  21. Thanks for posting that photo, nice engine. But I thought Mutual was getting the new Engine??? To replace the Mack?
  22. Does anyone have photos of Mount Kisco's new Engine? Didn't even know it was delivered.
  23. From my point of view, especially when you have no help in throwing the ladder, I always overestimate what I need, so I mostly try and use the extension ladder except in very obvious circumstances where the roof ladder will more then suffice in a non-roof application.
  24. Does anyone know where NYPD recieves and outfits their cars and vehicles??? Also, where is fleet maintainence done? I know they have a facility in Queens, and I've passed by it, but it doesn't seem that big. Must be a massive recieving lot.
