Unless someone wants to put up the money, say goodbye to The Little Spot in North White Plains (the roadside burger joint). They are foreclosing on the property, they haven't paid property taxes since 2009 and owe over $400,000 in back taxes. Before the new owners, and several years ago, that place used to be awesome and always hopping. I remember when they were only open in the Summer too. http://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/westchester/north-castle/2016/03/24/little-spot-faces-foreclosure/82216342/

In 2004, we attempted a run survey of departments in Westchester for 2003. http://www.emtbravo.com/RunSurvey/index.html Should we try to do a run survey for 2015?

FDNY has leased several new ambulances to fill the voids left by Transcare. The order was to get new ambulances ASAP. They appear to be Ford F-350 Superdutys with a Wheeled Coach module, and not FDNY spec. It's unknown the exact total that will be delivered. They are intended to be used until Wheeled Coach can begin delivery of a large order for FDNY-spec ambulances. Photo credit: Unknown

Good job by Yonkers FF's. But why is Empress EMS ALWAYS a footnote in these stories? I'm sure their EMT's and Paramedics had a big part in his survival as well. It seems these stories come out a few times a year about Yonkers FF's saving someone, and Empress EMS is ALWAYS a footnote. Maybe writing a paragraph about how some of the best EMT's and Paramedics in Westchester were a crucial part of it? Or inviting Empress EMS to the photo op/press conference? http://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/westchester/yonkers/2016/03/25/yonkers-firefighters-save-man-thanked/82246058/

I like the building (except for the recent renovations and unfinished siding). Mostly the style it had in the late 80's to early 90's. It has character, which can't be replaced with a new structure. The building's held up for over 60 years, so it can't be that flimsy.

They certainly are. I missed that. However, they are just referred to by name and the generic "Empress personnel" label, while the Fire Lt. is referred to by the title he earned, just like the title of EMT and Paramedic is hard earned. And in press conferences in the past, they've been left out. Empress should have been given the chance to speak, however. Yonkers firefighters and Empress EMT's and Paramedics save lives all the time together. I wish the media on both the PIO and News sides would highlight how early access to good BLS CPR by Yonkers fire sustained this victim, and when the EMT's and Paramedics arrived they initiated advanced cardiac life support procedures. Because of the teamwork and system in place in Yonkers, this guy survived.

Empress has ordered several Ford Transit T-250/Medix Type II ambulances with the I-5 Diesel engines for delivery in April, from Medix Ambulance Company, through their dealer VCI I believe they have ordered additional demos of the above to place into immediate service. Here's all the info and specs: http://vciambulances.com/vehicle-sales/trucks-on-order/2015-empress-ambulance-2016-medix-15-trvd0197-0199

I've been told they are leasing 15 for 6 months, or until the new order of ambulances come in, with the option to purchase. I don't know much about where they will be deployed, but I would guess in the Bronx to cover all the new shifts. They are going to be in service fairly quickly, they are going straight to the radio shops then into service.

It's always been Field Com 1. Built in 2014, delivered in 2015, will go into service (if not already) in 2016.

On Friday, there was a large brush fire in Katonah. WCPD Aviation was requested for the Bambi bucket, which was unavailable due to weather conditions, and for aerial reconnaissance to determine the best access to the fire. If Westchester County had a drone, this brush fire could have been a perfect use. FLIR, the thermal imaging leader, and DJI, a leading drone company, are developing a thermal imaging drone. This new drone is capable of downlinking into the large screen monitors of the WCDES Fieldcom, and WCPD Mobile Command unit. It would make the aerial mast CCTV cameras they are equipped with obsolete. And for example of another incident, this drone could have been deployed at the tugboat incident to aid in the search for the missing victims. In the law enforcement sector of the county, this is also perfect in a perp search, or a missing person search. I personally feel that anything that gives an incident commander more situational awareness and real time size up data is a good thing. In deploying crews at brush fires and missing person searches, amongst others, a drone can be invaluable. http://www.dji.com/product/zenmuse-xt
