Just a heads up, deadline for this exam is this week! If you want and you feel you have what it takes to become a State Trooper, FILE NOW!!!! Or else, wait another 4 years, minimum.

Interesting call. I've been in my fair share of these house, but never involving children. It's sad when it's the elderly alone.

Now that Santa has arrived in Herald Sqaure... I'm curious about who really has the Holiday spirit reflected on their firehouses, EMS quarters, etc in the area??? Please include the name of the department and physical address of the holiday display. I'd like to take a ride one or two nights for a possible special feature on EMTBravo.com

Because I could get my Associates Degree in one year, while getting my Medic at Northeastern University. Also, I really like Boston, Worcester, and the surrounding areas, and wanted a change of scenery. I loved it up there, and if it wasn't so tough to become a firefighter up there, I probaly would have stayed up there. I love Massachussets.

Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes for a happy, healthy, safe, and fun holiday season! Let's keep in our minds those who have recently passed, and be thankful for whom we have with us not only here phyiscally, but in spirit.

Ardsley-Secor Volunteer Ambulance operates with one bus, a 2001 Ford E-350 Super Duty/Lifeline 167" Superliner. They run BLS only out of a recently constructed one-bay headquarters on American Legion Drive C/S Centre St in Ardsley. ALS is provided by Greenburgh Police EMS, via Car 75 which is staffed by civilians and operates in the incorporated Villages of the Town of Greenburgh. They operate primarily with a 2005 Chevrolet Police Package Tahoe.

If I'm not mistaken (with the exception of Cold Spring, which I believe is an older, older piece), all the truck companies in Putnam County are Tower Ladders. I'm curious as to why there aren't any departments in Putnam that don't have a straight stick? With the way Putnam is developing, I'm sure there's a need for one is some communities, even communities that already have a TL. Are any departments in Putnam planning to get a straight stick, or quint, in the future? And, where is your closest straight stick coming from?

I'm for this. There's no reason why there needs to be so many small, fragmented departments in one town. It used to be that the Police Officers in these Villages were from the Communties, and knew the residents and village inside and out. Today, not so much. There's no reason, in my opinion, why there needs to be a highly paid command structure for each department, each department needs their own fleet, etc. It's duplication. Money can be saved, and applied to putting more officers on the street. The current Police stations can act as a precinct. This would also benefit officers, as it would allow them more advancment oppurtunity and being able to change once in a while from patrolling the same small village.

They are looking to replace Engine 176, a 1992 Pierce Arrow. Among the demo's they've looked at are an HME/Ahrens Fox "Alleycat" and a KME Severe Service Predator that is part of the LA County add-on order program. I think the KME Predator Severe Service would fit their needs well. I've had numerous chances to go over the LA Engines in the LACoFD shops as well as ride along on calls with LACoFD on these Engines, and they are really, really nice. They are built to serve in one of the busiest FD's in the world, and they are also built to be easy to maintain and use. Can't wait to see who wins, and for the apparatus to be delievered!

Now, although I can't understand why they can't just leave her to rest in peace, this article highlights "the golden hour" using an interesting subject and event.

Found this interesting feature online: "How To Photograph Fire Apparatus" http://www.firenews.net/contents/app_photo_01.htm Pretty snooty, but some select good advice.

Yesterday, I traveled to Worcester and the Boston Metro area to shoot some apparatus I've been after for a while. I'm excited with what I had the oppurtuinity to shoot and who I got to meet along the way. A great day overall and helped to take my mind off other things and lift my spirit a little. MA FF's are great, very kind and hospitable, very different atmosphere then the NY Metro area. Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way. I'd like to thank paul612 for his help and driving me around the Worcester area to get these shots. Much appreciated Paul. (The only things I missed was some Boston FD and EMS units, since they seemed to be running like crazy and not in quarters when I came around, and Newton's new Pierce Arrow XT Tower Ladder, which had a warranty issue, it blew a solenoid moments before I arrived and wouldn't start. Also, because of time and daylight issues, couldn't get some more on my list, but that just gives me the excuse to come up again!) The results of this "photo hunt" can be seen on http://www.emtbravo.com Seth Here's some preview shots. This is Worcester Engine 22 (Spare/Reserve), a 19?? Maxim. A really unique piece, if I had the money and space I would love to aquire and restore it if they ever dispose of it.

Oh yes, this Wrecker at Winn St Sales in Burlington looks like it belongs in Stiloski's fleet with the paint job it has.

And finally for right now, is Brookline T-1, a 2007 E-One Cyclone II/110' Bronto Skylift
-
And two of my personal favorites, Wilmington MA Squad 1 and Ambulance 1 S-1 2001 Pierce Quantum A-1 2007 Ford F-450 4x4/AEV (Finally able to paint their ambulances red after the OEMS lifted their ridiculous striping rules for EMS vehicles)

One of Worcester's new Seagrave Engines, assigned to E-13 at the South Division. The other Seagrave is at the dealer, delivery has not been accepted due to a flaw that is still being troubleshooted at the dealer.

Next up is this very unique unit that's primarily found in New England, a Boston PD "Paddy Wagon" 2007 Ford F-250. Does anyone know who manufactured the body?
