I look foward to this event, haven't been in a while though. Hopefully, this year the turnout is good and the weather holds out. New location should be interesting as well.

I find the bikes with the interval levels to be great for times where you can't mountain bike. It gives you a whole bunch a different levels of resistance. I find any sort of cardiovascular interval training to be the best for FF's, EMS, and PD due to the nature of our work. The stationary bike is a great way to accomplish this.

Rest in peace, Chris. Thoughts and prayers are with all involved in this terrible tragedy. God may have seemed to take you to soon, but there is a reason for everything.

FINALLY! Looks awesome! A release I actually want to buy!!! It's been a long time since something from Code 3 interested me.

Every time I drive by this K-Mart, I always note how unique it is. I took advantage of a recent Sunday morning, and the blue laws that make driving on Route 17 in Paramus a pleasure on Sundays, to photograph this building. I know it's truss construction from the sign, but I'm interested to know about the beams (circled in yellow) that are bolted into concrete piers. This isn't a normal bowstring truss roof, to my knowledge. What type of construction is this? And I imagine you'd vent the roof utilizing a Tower Ladder.

I actually took that photo a couple of weeks ago, on the way home from somewhere. I'm definetly taking you up on lunch, as soon as my stomach decides to invest in a meal instead of rejecting it, so to speak. If someone can confirm that a second station is being built, and where, I'll go over tommorow morning to shoot provided the weather is good and post here.

Looks like they're coming close to moving in!

I was just curious if on-scene refueling was still a concern nowadays at prolonged incidents then it was in yesteryears? I discovered this cool trailer that the Westchester County DOT has.....it's a mobile refueling station, for both gas AND diesel. It has very long hoses with retractable reels. With the red paint, I was hoping it was for DES, but apparently that's the OEM color scheme. Although it's probaly to refuel their mowing tractors, or other equipment that can't be brought to a pump easily, I think this would be a great asset to the Fire Service. But I don't know if I have heard any stories or problems with apparatus running out of fuel during a prolonged incident in recent memory. But, even so, in a disaster situation this may be an asset, too.

Toss up between "Shawshank Redemention" and "Into The Wild".

Looking for a contact from Northville Fire Department in New Milford, CT. From the outside, it looks like they have a large and impressive Peterbilt fleet, along with some other gems. I would love to shoot their fleet for a feature on EMTBravo.com, and if someone could provide me with a Chief's email address it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but I just noticed this the other day. Millbrook FD, in Dutchess County, seems to have a few E-One's in their fleet. Millbrook is HUGE thoroughbred horse country, and many of those horses (and Millbrook residents) go to Ocala, FL for the winter. E-One firetrucks are built in Ocala, FL. Stupid, I know, just an interesting connection I noticed I felt like sharing.

Today, with the tip of a friend, I manged to get a shot of Westchester County PD's New Car 4188, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Package. It looks SHARP! Does anyone know who outfitted this car? Does County PD still do it in-house, or was this farmed out to TCD in Mamaroneck, who I know for a while was doing several cars for them. Also, the numbering system has changed so much. What is the assignment for this truck, Patrol Supervisor? One more question, if you look closely at the photo, it appears the front lightbar is strobe AND LED in the SAME module. Is that possible?

AWESOME Photos Tim! Thanks for sharing! I LOVED the old Rescue 3. And I love Fairview FD and the apparatus of the past (and future) Does Greenburgh Civil Defense still have it? Last time I saw it out was at Hartsdale's 100th Anniversary Parade at Webb Field. It was assigned GPD #445 and had the "old" color scheme. It was being used as a generator truck. If it's still around, where do they keep it?

While in Round Rock, TX this weekend, I noticed their PD does some things differently then other agencies. They put the officer's name on the vehicle. What does everyone think of this idea? I think it's pretty cool, but I wonder if it could be dangerous as well?

I'm just curious if Westchester County (or any other municipality) "credentials" press officials, or how they decide what is a legitamate news orginization or not?

Now here's an impressive vehicle that I'm suprised hasn't made it's way onto the USAR circuit yet. This vehicle seems very versatile, and with some compartmentation (including modular units), this could make a great support vehicle for a USAR team. I wonder if the Manitex folks could partner with a fire apparatus firm to market this as a USAR unit? 2007 Sterling Acterra Mercedes Diesel/Manitex 38124 SHL Photo by me

Every now and then, to pass some time, I go out hunting photos, not expecting to find much. Today, I dedided to swing by NYS*DOT's Cortlandt-Bear Mountain Pkwy Depot, because I haven't shot any trucks there ever. Well, today I stumbled upon this suprise! Looks like this beast is ready to fight a major snowstorm! However, with winters becoming warmer and warmer, and "snowstorms" becoming nusiance ice storms, I hope this doesn't become obsolete in this part of NYS. Looks like they are very proud of this piece of equipment. I wonder how many of these NYS*DOT owns, and how many are in the Hudson Valley? (Photo by me, today)

It's people like those that shouldn't be allowed to take the tests to become a career firefighter, or if they already are, they should be fired. Obviously, they don't take this JOB seriously, and whoever posted the video likes to flaunt it. I hold the officer and Chief responsible for this as well, as I know many Chiefs are aware of this practice. I wonder if there was any discipline dished out.

Also found this "Anti Ice Unit" at the NYS*DOT Taconic/Route 301 Maintainence Facilty. Another neat vehicle I didn't know they had in their arsenal. Anyone know the chasis? I assume they use this instead of salt because of the State Park, and Watershed area.

Anyone catch the premiere episode of "Breaking Bad" on AMC the other night? Kristen and I did. It's a new drama series on AMC. Yes, AMC, AKA American Movie Classics. This show has nothing to do with American movie classics, so I don't know why it's on AMC, but I digress. The series centers around a character named Walter White (Bryan Cranston, the dad from ("Malcolm in the Middle"). He is a high school chemistry teacher who lives in Albequque, New Mexico. He has a handicapped son, a pregnat wife, and works on the side at a car wash. During the first episode, he is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Worried about supporting his family, he teams up with a former student and steals supplies from the High School chemistry lab to make "perfect" crystal meth. I don't want to spoil the episode, so I wont give away too much. I highly recommend checking this show out.....it's something fresh and new amongst the midst of the writers strike, and it will leave you wanting more.

Has Fairfield, CT FD taken delivery of their new Ferrara RM truck yet? It's disappeared from the "In Production" section and isn't in the New Deliveries section. If they have, anyone can hook me up with a member from there?

Town Of Mamaroneck is getting a KME Predator Engine, from what I understand. Anybody else have details?
