  1. That's a great point. It definetly should be. The Town Of Greenburgh's Technical Rescue Team is under the PD's umbrella, and consists of Greenburgh PD officers, and as far as I still know, Fairview and Greenville FD FF's. Being this is a PD unit, I would wonder if it would be elegible for a DES listing. Greenburgh Civil Defense Cascade unit carries a DES listing, so I don't see why this wouldn't. The only complication would that Greenburgh has a variety of vehicles that assemble based on the situation, so a unit number wouldn't matter much in the grand scheme of things.
  2. Pierce has a great product. I think what hurt them the most was Tyler's after-the-sale service, which was lacking the area. Mobile Service vans don't always cut it. Also, Tyler really didn't market the Contender line.
  3. Yonker's USAR is an incredible asset to our region.....we are lucky they worked hard to obtain not only this rig, but all the equipment that goes along with it. I look foward to posting some more detail shots and info over the next few days....
  4. This is the old paint scheme, for comparison: http://x635photos.com/displayimage-567.html
  5. Hood LED's. I love this-LED's really have revolutionized where warning lights can be placed...
  6. Inside console. Both driver and passenger still have PLENTY of room.

  8. I guess Brookfield Auto Wreckers won the bid, since it's now at their facility. I didn't realize that Engine 51 was in that bad of shape...

  10. Considering the amount of officers that get hurt during foot pursuits, not to metion the potential, I think this is a good idea. Especially with all the technology that's coming on the market today.

  12. I know a lot of my friends, including me, have switched from Nextel to other carriers due to the horrible service and customer service Sprint provides. However, I miss the "Direct Connect" feature. It really made communications easy and quick. I wish all phones had direct connect that were compatible with different networks.

  14. I believe the Dodge Magnum has been discontinued effective with the 2008 models. Hoepfully, Dodge will start focusing on making more fuel efficient vehicles (SUV's) that also have style and comfort.
  15. There was a small fire in the Citgo sign (one of Bnechis's favorite landmarks and viewing spots) yesterday in Boston. This sign is the huge one near Fenway Park. Here are the photos: http://www.northeastfirephotos.smugmug.com...395339708_VGbqm
  16. As some of you may know, jetBlue will be moving into a brand new Terminal (5) @ JFK on October 22nd. New JetBlue Terminal 5 Designed for Unprecedented Efficiency and Customer Ease JetBlue Terminal 5 At JFK to Offer Customers Unique Dining and Shopping Experience JetBlue Celebrates New Terminal 5 At JFK My question is, and I've tried to find the answer.....does anyone here know the fate of the current jetBlue terminal, JFK T6?
  17. Thanks for the info....had heard a rumor that Southwest was looking to break into that terminal. It makes sense to knock it down, jetBlue does need the space for aircraft movement however I'd be suprised that the Port Authority would let that occur, considering some of the airlines that would love in at JFK.
  18. With the talk of Bedford Hills FD aiming for a new firehouse, I remembered a while ago that Bedford wanted to build a substation by Route 22 and Route 172 (by the Shell station) Bedford's current firehouse, while beautiful, is obsolete. They have many trucks buried deep back into a two bay wide apparatus floor. They can't accomodate a tanker for a district that has hardly any hydrants. For each response, apparatus must be shuffled around. There's hardly any room to walk, yet alone work in the bay. Is a plan for a new firehouse or substation in the future for Bedford FD?
  19. In this month's edition of "Popular Mechanics" magazine, there's an interesting article about how Hybrid Diesel Electric buses can be tapped during emergencies to provide electrical power. It's quite interesting. With both NYC MTA and Bee Line running these Hybrid buses, I wonder if this will ever be consider or implemented? 20. Same here.... I've actually encountered this situation. The patient was advised that they could be sedated for flight, and they agreed. However, if the patient refuses, have the patient sign a refusal (for that mode of transport), transport via ground, and document.
  21. Has New Rochelle ordered a new R-4 yet? If so, who won the bid?
  22. I just don't understand why it's such a big secret??
  23. To the members using photos as their avatar (that little photo to the left): If you're going to use someone else's photo, make sure you ask them first if it's OK to use it. And if you do, give them the proper credit- the easiest way to do this is a small line and link in your signature. Although I have no problem with people using my photos, I have an issue when they use my photos without asking me, and without giving me any credit for the photo. For those of use who take photos, we spend a lot of time and money to share them with you all, and to take the photo is really a sign of disrespect for that person's work. This will be added to the forum rules soon. Thanks! -Seth
